Beatrice Lillian Cowan
FORT WORTH -- Beatrice Lillian Cowan, 95, a homemaker, died Monday, April 9, 2001, at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Huff/ Slay Funeral Home Chapel in Pilot Point, Texas with the Rev. Clyde Allen Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Tioga Cemetery in Tioga, Texas.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Beatrice Cowan was born July 28, 1905, in Gunter, Texas. She married Frank William Cowan on February 19, 1934. She had been a resident of Fort Worth since 1946, and was a Methodist. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include: Wanda Harrison and husband of Grand Prairie and Sandra Sanders and husband of Fort Worth; sons, Billy Cowan and wife, of Tallahassee, Ala. and Jimmy Cowan and wife of Cottage Grove, Minn.; grandchildren, Joe Bob Hiser, Steven Hiser, Sandy Lewis, Michael Sanders, Sharon Davis, Dani Ottman and Amanda Cowan; numerous great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Benjamin Wicklit Skipper
SAVOY -- Benjamin Wicklit Skipper, 64-year-old Savoy resident, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14 in Mullican-Little Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Jim Goodwin of Virginia Point United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Spring Hill Cemetery in Daingerfield, Texas.
Mr. Skipper was born on April 30, 1936, in Texas, the son of Roy D. Skipper and Pearl Willmon Stanley. On July 29, 1960, he married Betty Bryant in Morris County, Texas.
He was a teacher at the Choice Moore Prison Unit.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Skipper of Savoy; sons, Bryan Skipper of Maud, Texas and Roger Skipper of Windom; brothers, Joe Skipper and John Skipper, both of Daingerfield, Texas; sister, Mary Smith of Mount Pleasant; and five grandchildren.
The family will be at Mullican-Little Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday.
James R. Womack Jr.
GUNTER -- Graveside services for James R. Womack Jr., 58-year-old Gunter resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina. He died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at North Central Medical Center in McKinney.
The Rev. Ron Hathcoat will officiate.
Surviving are his wife, Judy Womack; daughters, Becky Johnson of Celina and Dee Dee Meares of Gunter; and three grandchildren.
Cantrell Funeral Home of Celina has charge of arrangements.
Buck Rose
DURANT, Okla. -- Graveside services for Buck Rose, 83-year-old Durant resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Mead Cemetery in Mead, Okla. He died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at his home.
Gary Jorgenson will officiate.
Surviving are his sons, Bobby Carl Rose of Hankamer, Texas, Gary Rose of Drumright, Okla. and Chris Rose of Durant; daughters, Brenda Elliott of Crosby and Dianne Gobert of Durant; sister, Alice Talley of Oklahoma City; brothers, Dan Rose of Del City, Okla., Bobby Brownlee of Moore, Okla. and Glen Brownlee of Wynnewood, Okla.; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the home of Chris Rose.
Bonnie B. Derebery
DENISON -- Graveside services for Bonnie B. Derebery, 81-year-old Denison resident, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12, in Fairview Cemetery, near Ravenna, Texas. She died Tuesday, April 12, 2001, at her home.
Everett Hodges will officiate.
Mrs. Derebery was born on July 5, 1919, in Honey Grove, Texas, the daughter of Walter Atwell and Sallie Jane Darossett. She was a graduate of Honey Grove High School.
She married William Robert Derebery on Dec. 25, 1938, in Durant, Okla. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2000.
She was a member of Central Church of Christ. She was a bookkeeper for Steakley Chevrolet in Denison.
Surviving are her nephews, Bob Derebery and his wife, Margaret and Roy Willis Palmor, all of Denison; and nieces, Helen Ruth Verehelle of Hendrix, Okla., Marie Smith and Margie Lowing, both of Denison, and Mary Galyon of Savoy.
Vernon L. Grant
DENISON -- Services for Vernon L. Grant, 37-year-old Denison resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Quinn Chapel AME Church. He died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
Officiating will be the Rev. Eric Furtch and the Rev. Jerry DeHorney. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Surviving are his mother, Charlene Wright of Denison; brothers, Kevin Grant and Maurice Grant, both of Denison; and sister, Carla Morrison of Denison.
Smith Memorial Chapel in Denison has charge of arrangements.
The family will be at the Wright residence.
Leroy Crook
SHERMAN -- Services for Leroy Crook of Sherman, 76-year-old retired truck driver, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. He died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center.
Dr. Thomas O. Brumett of the First United Methodist Church in Bonham will officiate. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Crook was born on March 8, 1925, in Grayson County, Texas, the son of Dillard and Myrtle Judkins Crook and attended Howe schools. On Sept. 13, 1944, he married Wanda Ruffin in Sherman.
He was employed as a truck driver for Burlington Industries for 32 years until his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy's Pacific campaign. He was a Methodist.
Pallbearers will be Steve Case, Robert Judkins, Eddie Judkins, Darrell Crook, Bobby Clay and Harold Spencer.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda Crook of Sherman; daughters, Karen Martin and husband, Jimmy of Sherman and Jan Jackson and husband, Jimmy of Bells; grandchildren, Suzanne Martin of Bonham, Randy Martin of Sherman, Jennifer Jackson and husband, Kenneth Tabor of Coppell and Jessica Jackson of Sherman; and brother, Grady Gray of Whitesboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bill Crook.
Visitation was at Waldo Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the home of Jimmy and Karen Martin after the service.

Mary Lois Nash Barr
SHERMAN -- Services for Mary Lois Nash Barr, 76, of Sherman will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2002, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The Reverend James Sproat of the church and the Rev. Marti Mattner of Home Hospice will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Barr died Wednesday, February 13, 2002, at her residence.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barr was born in Madisonville, Texas on January 4, 1926, the daughter of John William Nash and Alma Lawless Nash. Ms. Nash married Clarence Leroy Barr, who preceded her in death in January, 1982.
She was employed in the food service department of the Sherman Independent School District and was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and the Wilson N. Jones Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, John F. Barr and wife, Marty of Sherman; brothers, James Nash of Houston and Herman Nash of Grass Valley, Calif.; and two grandchildren, LeAnn Barr of Denton and Rachel Barr of San Marcos.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2002.

Chris Norman Basham
SHERMAN -- Chris Norman Basham, 50-year-old Sherman resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at RHD Memorial Center in Farmers Branch.
Services will held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 in Waldo Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Glynn Tyson officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Basham was born on Oct. 6, 1951, in Paris, Texas, the son of Ralph Allen and Fay Frith Basham. He received his MBA from East Texas State University.
On Aug. 18, 1972, he married Janet Littlefield in Commerce, Texas.
Norman was a member of Sigma Chi. He had a love for writing poetry.
Pallbearers will be William Craven, Jason Basham, Adam Basham, Kevin Basham, Scott Stone, Larry McCave and Jim Irvin. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Thompson, Joseph Sims and Jimmy Sims.
Surviving are his wife, Janet Basham of Sherman; mother, Fay Basham of Lake Creek, Texas; daughters, Rebecca Basham of Sherman and Christina Plumlee and husband, Michael of Hawaii; grandsons, Christina and Jonathan Plumlee of Hawaii; brothers, Lloyd Basham and wife, Donna of Garland, Texas and Allen Basham and wife, Gail of Edgewood, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Allen Basham on Dec. 19, 2001.
Visitation will be at Waldo Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14.
Hallie Pearce
DURANT, Okla. -- Hallie Winningham Pearce, 91-year-old former Durant resident, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Paris, Texas.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Dalton-Holmes Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Surviving is her sister, Thalia Lou Nimmo of Paris.

Thelma Louise Nichols
VAN ALSTYNE -- Services for Thelma Louise Nichols, 82, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Flesher Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne. She died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at her home in Dallas.
Jerry Venable will officiate, followed by burial in Stoney Point Cemetery.
Surviving are her daughters, Lou Wayne Nichols and Sheila Medina, both of Dallas; sons, Mike Nichols of Allen and Eddie Nichols of Dallas; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Noble Phillips
BONHAM -- Services for Mrs. Noble Phillips, 88, of Bonham will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bonham. She died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at IHS of Bonham.
The Rev. E.R. Spencer, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Gates Hill Cemetery in Bonham.
Surviving are three grandchildren.
The family will be at Smith Memorial Chapel in Denison from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday.
