SHIRLEY ANN KIRKLAND
Shirley Ann Kirkland, 78, of Floydada passed away March 28, 2008 in the Floydada Rehab and Care Center of Floydada.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008 at the Floydada Cemetery in Floydada. Reverend Henry Russell, Pastor of the Trinity Assembly Church officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Moore Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.
Mrs. Kirkland was born December 17, 1929 in Floydada. She was preceded in death by her mother, Johnnie M. Terrell in 1995 and a brother, Lester Lee Mallow in 1961.
She is survived by three sons, Ricky Bryant and wife, Debbie of Portales, New Mexico, Randy Bryant of Clovis, New Mexico and Alfred R. Bayless and wife, Brenda of Coweta, Oklahoma; three daughters, Patricia Jackson of Pryor, Oklahoma, Donna Goins of Spavinaw, Oklahoma and Edna Gruver of Pryor, Oklahoma; three brothers, Harold Mallow and wife, Ila of Amarillo, George Mallow and wife, Linda of Plainview and Dorsey Mallow and wife, Janet of Valdosta, Georgia; and a numerous amount of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
MARGIE HERRING LANGLEY
Margie Herring Langley, 74, of San Diego California, died Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Sharp Memorial Hospital.
Margie was born on February 4, 1934 in Foss, Oklahoma to the late Thomas C. Herring and Gladys (Stanley) Herring. Margie moved to St. Petersburg in 1936 at two years of age. She moved again in 1946 to Floydada at the age of 12. She married James W. Langley on December 20, 1950 in Lockney. She was a homemaker for over 57 years. Her favorite past time was to travel around the country in the motor home with her husband James, gardening her flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband James W. Langley, three daughters, Rebecca Lawton and her husband Tom of Escondido, CA, Roberta Moore and her husband Tim of Julian, CA, Ramona Oliver of Austin, TX and one son Jim Langley and his wife Jennifer of Poway, CA and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services and the burial were held at El Camino Memorial Park at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26.
WELDON GRAVES
Weldon Graves, 78, of Lockney, departed this life on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
Weldon was born on January 21, 1930 in Antelope Flat, Texas to Iry Graves and Dessie (O‚Rand) Graves. Weldon moved to Lone Star Community in 1941 from Antelope Flat, Texas. He attended Lockney Schools and lived in Lockney most of his life. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Lockney. Weldon owned and operated Graves Welding Shop and Used Cars for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Winfred Graves.
Weldon is survived by two sons, Frankie Graves and his wife Linda and Glen Graves and his wife Tina all of Lockney; two daughters, Kathy Burley and her husband Keith and Sherry Langford all of Lubbock; three sisters, Leona Willis and her husband Arlie of Lubbock; Cleona Taylor and her husband Verne Taylor Jr. of Lockney; and Betty Smith of Brownwood; mother of children, Frances Graves of Lockney; cousins, Peggy Steward and daughter Rhonda of Lockney were loving and wonderful caregivers, eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three grandchildren-in-laws.
Family greeted friends on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 25, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Rev. Harold Abney officiated. Burial was held at the Lockney Cemetery under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney, TX.
TRAVIS JOE WEEMS
Travis Joe Weems, 59, cherished father, husband and friend, died peacefully, near the ocean, on April 23, 2008.
Travis was born April 22, 1949 in Floydada, Texas to Milton and Betty Weems. After graduating from Texas Tech University with a degree in mechanical engineering, he began work in the oil and gas industry. Travis moved with his young family to the Fort Worth area in 1977. He remained active exploring for, drilling and producing oil and gas throughout his life and develooped many close friendships within the industry. Travis was a managing partner of Charro Operating LLC.
Travis' love for life was matched only by his generosity and his love for his family was powerful and unconditional. He was a treasured friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Gina; daughters, Lesley Weems, Kylan Weems Bunker and husband, Dr. Noah Bunker; son, Bryson Joe Weems; a sister, Katherine Kercher; a brother, Mark Weems; an aunt, Ruby Weems of Floydada and cousins, Randell Weems and Robert Weems. Also Micheal Sweeney, Kaitlyn Sweeney, Catherine Bozzell and more friends than anyone could hope for.
A memorial service was held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2008 at the Ashton Depot, 1501 Jones Street, Fort Worth, TX. A reception to celebrate Travis' life followed the memorial service.
The family suggests sending donations to St. Judes Children's Hospital.
Bobbie Hamilton
Bobbie Gene Hamilton, 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Santa Fe House in Plainview.
She was born on January 5, 1931 in Floydada, TX to Robert Medlen and Mary (Morgan) Medlen. She attended Floydada schools and graduated from West Texas State College in Canyon. She was married for 42 wonderful years to Charles Ray Hamilton. They married on March 20, 1954 in Floydada, where they farmed until his death on October 18, 1996.
She was Floyd County Auditor for several years. Later she and Charles owned CRH Systems in Floydada. Her favorite pastimes included playing bridge, reading, and playing the piano. She also played hand bells and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the First Methodist Church.
Mrs. Hamilton is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Mary Louise Anderson.
She is survived by her two sons, Ross Hamilton and wife Phyllis of Flower Mound, TX; and Clay Hamilton and wife Elizabeth of Arlington, VA; two sisters, Maurine Ritchey of Plainview; and Roberta Harter of Dumas; six grandchildren and a great grandchild.
A Memorial service was held at 2p.m., Monday, June 2, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Floydada with Rev. Les Hall officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada, TX.
JUAN M. HERNANDEZ
Funeral services for Juan M. Hernandez, 29, of Midkiff was held on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 in Munipid Zaragoza Coahulia Mexico.
He died Saturday, May 10, 2008 at a local hospital.
Juan Hernandez was born March 15, 1979 in Lockney to Hermino Hernandez and Valentina Montez Hernandez. He was a high school graduate.
Survivors include his mother, Valentina Hernandez; father, Hermino Hernandez; brothers, Benjamin Hernandez and Gilbert Hernandez, all of Midkiff, Texas.

LULA MAE CATES
Lula Mae Tinnin Cates, 93, of Killeen, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2008. Lula Mae was born April 29, 1915 to Walter Benjamin Tinnin and Lauretta Maude (Thompson) Tinnin.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Lockney Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney.
MARY HOLLAND
Mary Holland, 61, of Stephenville, Texas, died Friday, June 6, 2008 at a Glen Rose Hospital.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church of Morgan Mill, where she was a member.
Mary was born November 19, 1946 to the late Malcolm and Allie Inez (Lemon) Millner in Sardis, Tennessee. She married Robert Holland of Lockney, Texas on March 5, 1966. Her husband, Robert was a 1962 graduate of Lockney High School.
Survivors include sister-in-laws, Nancy Marble of South Plains and Patsy Musser of Canyon; her husband, Robert Holland of Stephenville; daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Glenn Ainslie of Fort Worth; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Jeannie Holland of Vero Beach, FL; sisters, Peggy Moore of Dallas and Doris Kallas of Lubbock; brother, Bobby Millner of Idalou and five grandchildren, Cassandra Holland, Jacqueline Holland, Michael Holland, Erin Ainslie and Ethan Ainslie.

NICOLAS GARCIA
There will be a memorial service for Nicolas Garcia 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 27 at the Massey Activity Center in Floydada.
Mr.Garcia, age 82, passed away on June 23, 2008 at 4:38 a.m. in Lubbock, Texas.
Mr. Garcia was born in Runge, Texas on November 7, 1925. He came to Floydada in 1950 and worked as a farmer, driving a tractor most of his life. He married Nicolasa Rodriguez on March 10, 1959 in Floydada.
He is survived by his wife, Nicolasa Garcia and eleven children: Domingo Martinez of Comerce City, Co.; David Martinez of Brighton, Co.; Mary Ann Garcia of Floydada; Refugio Garcia of Floydada; Katie Gonzales of Hobbs, N.M.; Johnny J. Garcia of Lubbock; Martin Garcia of Lubbock; Modesta Leal of Plainview; Alice G. Cruz of Floydada; Elisa G. Jimenez of Floydada; Angela G. Vallejo of Plainview; 29 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Israel Martinez, will be 2p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Templo Gethsemani Assembly of God with Pastor Steve Martinez officiating. Burial will follow at the Floydada Cemetery services are under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.
Prayer services will be held 7p.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Templo Gethsemani Assembly of God with Pastor Steve Martinez officiating.
Israel Martinez, 27, of Floydada, TX died Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Mangold Memorial Hospital in Lockney, Texas.
Israel was born on June 8, 1981 in Floydada, to Reynaldo and Julia Martinez. He graduated from Floydada High School. He married Sarah Adela Ochoa on March 3, 2002 in Floydada. God blessed them with a beautiful son, Jacob Israel Martinez, who was the love of his life and loved spending time with him. Israel was a very hard worker, he loved farming and working on his car. When he wasn't working Israel enjoyed having friends and family over for cookouts. He also enjoyed spending time cruising with his friends. Israel will be truly missed by family and friends who knew him to be very friendly and outgoing. He was a very loving son, husband, father, and brother.
He is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Paula Santana and Virginia Ortiz, his grandfather, Jose Mendoza, and his uncle, Jose Guadalupe Martinez.
Israel is survived by his parents, a grandfather, Felipe Martinez, his wife, his son, all of Floydada; three brothers, Le Roy Martinez of Big Lake, TX; Reynaldo Martinez Jr. and wife Stephanie of Pampa, TX; and Reggie Martinez of Dougherty; three sisters, Aracely Casares and husband Reyes, Griselda Lira and husband Orlando all of Floydada; Ruth Berdeja and husband Michael of Kansas City, MO; twelve nieces and nephews that he loved very much, he also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many great friends.
A love fund has been started at Floydada's First National Bank for the family of Israel Martinez.
