Sylvia Reyes Arroniz, 38, passed away April 23. She was a longtime resident of La Union, N.M., and was an active member of Jesus Chapel West, where she sang in the choir. She is survived by her mother Victoria Reyes, her sister Delia Terrazas, brothers Oscar Reyes, David Reyes and Jesse Bueno and her nieces and nephews Marissa, Sandra, Yvette, Jessica, Jesse Jr., David and Robert. Graveside service was April 26 at Anthony Cemetery.

Evangeline (Angie) O. Ridgeway, 85, passed away April 23. She was a resident of El Paso since 1973, a longtime member of Mt. Hope Lutheran Church. a real estate broker with Century 21 DKD and member of the El Paso Board of Realtors. She is survived by her daughter Rhonda Dore and husband Mark Dore and her grandson Chris Little. Memorial services were held April 26 at Mt. Hope Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to Mt. Hope Lutheran Church, 9640 Montwood, El Paso, TX 79925.

Margaret Anah Seay, 92, passed away April 25. She is survived by her two sons Edward Seay and Raymond Seay and his wife Helen three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Private interment took place on April 27.

Francis C. Shef Shepard, 85, passed away April 23. He was a flight plan supervisor until his retirement in 1970 from the Federal Aviation Administration. He was a member of the West Texas Repeater Association, the West Texas Eye Bank and the HAM Radio Club. He had been a resident of Deming since 1992 when he and his family moved there from Sierra Blanca. He is survived by his wife Mary W. Shepard, their children Mary Frances McLaughlin and her husband Patrick and Ruth Marie Sherron and her husband Gene five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment was April 27 at Mount View Cemetery.

She is survived by her parents Earl and Dorothy Starnes, her husband Scot and their children Justin and Amery Bailey and his wife Tammy her sister Staci, niece Cheyenne and brothers Earl, Jim and Randy Thomas. A memorial service was held April 26 at Western Hills United Methodist Church.

Dixie Lee Vaughn Sullivan, 80, passed away April 22. She was employed as an accounting clerk and had resided in El Paso for 46 years. She is survived by her husband R.C. Sullivan, their children Mike Sullivan, Pamela A. Wilson and Paula L. Gore seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Private interment was at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation.

MSG W. J. Whigham, U.S. Army, (Ret.), 74, passed away April 9. He had been a resident of El Paso for 30 years and was a member of the Catholic Church. He served in the Korean War and in Vietnam and retired after more than 25 years of service to his country. He is survived by his wife Virginia Whigham and step-daughter Beth Parsley. Interment was April 16 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

Rhoda (Jesse) Bashur Isaac passed away April 27. She moved to El Paso in 1945 and was a past chairman of the Annual Middle Eastern Dinner and held several offices in the church where she also played the organ. She was a member of El Maida Court No. 46, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America and the drum and bugle corps. She is survived by her husband James Isaac Sr., their children James Isaac Jr. and his wife Francis, Samuel Isaac and wife Claudia, and Edward Isaac. Surviving grandchildren are Kristy Conelley, Samantha Isaac, Melissa Isaac, Amy Isaac, David Isaac, James Isaac III, Joey Isaac and Tiffany Isaac plus three great-grandchildren Taylor, Rhiannon and Jett Conelley. Burial was May 2 at Restlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Orthodox Church Building Fund.

Nelly Beck, 67, passed away April 29. Although she came to the United States not knowing the English language, she succeeded in raising eight children on her own, cared for her 10 brothers and sisters and graduated from college with honors. She also became a broker with her own Becks Realty. She is survived by her childen Luci Beck, JoAnna Sissine, Robert John Beck, Theresa Ann Ford, Edward C. Beck, Sonya Beck, Oscar Avila, and Ivy Hodges 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Entombment was May 2 at in Evergreen East.

Eliverto Bustamante, 80, passed away April 26. He was a longtime resident of El Paso who retired as a shipping and receiving clerk for Safeway Stores. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in World War II and received the European-African Middle Eastern Ribbon as well as the Good Conduct & Victory Medals. He is survived by his wife Maria de Jesus Bustamante, their children Eliverto Bustamante Jr., Charlie Bustamante and Norma Vara eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Interment was April 30 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

Rick J. Elyko passed away April 28. He was a longtime resident of El Paso, served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Ohio. He was employed with Able Pool and Spa. He is survived by his daughter Genevieve Sbrocco, his mother Geraldine Alexander, stepfather Phillip Alexander, sister Sheri L. Bogiel and grandmother Helen Martin. After a memorial service on May 1, cremation followed.

He is survived by his mother Maria de los Angeles Espino, his wife Virginia Espino, their children Jose Luis Espino, Rodrigo Espino, Humberto Espino, Juan Espino, Hortencia Diaz, Dora Maria Sanchez, Maria Guadalupe Guzman and Faviola Morales and 15 grandchildren. Cremation followed a funeral Mass on May 2.

Emmett Milton Peterson, JR., 74, passed away April 28. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII from 1944 to 1946, he was awarded the Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal. He also served the U.S. Army in Korea from 1951 to 1954, he was awarded the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Star, U.N. Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a retired engineer and branch chief in the Missile Intelligence Agency. He is survived by his wife Barbara Dye Peterson, their children Polly Coleman, Marsha Callis, Lance Peterson and Shawn Peterson five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment was May 2 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.

Manuel Rojas, 96, passed away on April 26. He was a longtime resident of Smeltertown and had worked for El Paso Brick Company for more than 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Candelaria D. Rojas, their children Raul and his wife Elvira, Guillermo and his wife Maria, Robert and his wife Maria, Leopoldo Rojas, Bertha Solis and her husband Enrique, Beatriz Lopez and her husband Jose and Delia Rojas 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great- grandchildren. Burial was April 27 at Memory Gardens of the Valley.
