Self
GREENWOOD COMMUNITY - James Randol Self, 64, of the Greenwood Community, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at East Texas Medical Center in Mount Vernon following a brief illness.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 9 at the West Oaks Funeral Chapel at 3 p.m. Officiating was the Rev. Craig Toney. He was assisted by Ricky Self, J.T. Self and Lonnie Moore. military graveside rites were conducted by the Hopkins County Veterans Coalition.
Mr. Self was born on April 25, 1936 in Hopkins County to Marion James and Mary Jane Rushing Self. He married Wanda Jo Foster on July 8, 1967 in the Greenwood Community. He was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Vietname War and the Seven Day War. He was also a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church, a student at Paris Junior College, and coached Little Dribblers basketball for several years.
He is survived by his wife Wanda Jo Foster of the Greenwood Community; three sons Randy Glen Self of Sulphur Springs, Ricky Don Self and James Talton Self, both of the Greenwood Community; two daughters Tonya Renee Walker and Rhonda Gail Reynolds, both of the Greenwood Community; one brother Lester Self of the Greenwood Community; five sisters Ida Lawrence and Dorothy Clem, both of Sulphur Springs; Levata Ishmael of Pine Forest, Lois Wright of Detroit and Geneva Crowson of Lubbock. He is also survived by eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, L.T. and Floyd Royal Self; two sisters, Dora Fay Self and Alma Mae Truxell.
Thomas
OMAHA - Dinah Thomas, 54, of Omaha, died Thursday, June 9, 2000 at her residence in Omaha.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 12 at Omaha Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Turner officiating. Interment was at Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home Inc. in Naples. Pallbearers were Jimmy Brown, Greg Brown, John Thomas, Charles Lee, Thad Hall, Hal Ward.
Mrs. Thomas was born Oct. 27, 1945 in Blue, Okla. She was a longtime resident of Omaha, an office clerk at Browns Omaha Plant House and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include husband Ronnie Thomas of Omaha; son and daughter-in-law, Chet and Ragayla Thomas of Whitehouse; two daughters and son-in-law, Kim and Steven Crocker of Marietta, Misty Thomas of Mount Vernon; three brothers, John Stinson, Marion Stinson, William Stinson, all of Durant, Okla.; sister Mary Ellen Owens of Stillwater, Okla.; three grandchildren, Ashton, Emily and Allison.
Wilcox
PITTSBURG - James Wilcox, 68, of Pittsburg, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at Pittsburg Nursing Center.
A graveside service was held atr 11 a.m. Thursday, June 8 at Reeves Cemetery in Panola County. Officiating the service was the Rev. Cecil McLeod. Erman Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements
Mr. Wilcox was born Oct. 9, 1931 in Wells. He was the owner and operator of Wilcox Construction Co. in Nacogdoches, where he lived before moving to Pittsburg. He was retired from Angelina County where he worked road construction. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Lufkin.
Survivors include his wife Garland Wilcox of Pittsburg; his mother Bell Lindell McCarty Wilcox of Lufkin; three sons and one daughter-in-law Dennis and Mary Ann Wilcox of Nacogdoches, Tommy Wilcox of Lufkin, George Wilcox of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law Donna Jo and Roger Tubbs of Lufkin; sister Juanita Hindsman of Mississippi; half-brother C.B. McCarty of Lufkin; eight grandchildren. Mr. Wilcox was preceded in death by his father, William F. Wilcox and one brother.

Williams
AUBURN, Ala. - Former Mount Pleasant resident Marion Elizabeth Tedford Williams, 81, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, in Auburn, Ala.
Graveside funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at City Cemetery in Sulphur Springs under the direction of Bates-Cooper Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant. The Rev. Bob Waters officiated.
Mrs. Williams was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of Archer Dickson Tedford and Vera Barclay Tedford. She earned both a bachelor of science degree in education and a master of science degree in library science from East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce. A long time resident of Mount Pleasant from the time of her marriage in 1938, Mrs. Williams taught elementary school here for 30 years prior to her retirement in 1979. In 1990, Mrs. Williams was named Retired Teacher of the Year for the Mount Pleasant Independent School District. She was a member of Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church and moved to Auburn, Ala., in 1997.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jane and Dr. Jimmy D. Ferguson; granddaughters Carol Elizabeth Ferguson and Katherine Tedford Ferguson, of Auburn, Ala.; niece Stacey Lynn Tedford Mayo and nephew Stephen Dickson Tedford. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, T.L. Williams, in 1989.
Young
LONE STAR - David Harold Young, 51, of Lone Star, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000 in a Daingerfield nursing home.
Services were held be at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Hughes Springs on Friday, June 9, at 2 p.m. The service was officiated by the Rev. Scott Darby and the Rev. Don Peek. Burial was at Spring Hill Cemetery in Cason.
Mr. Young was born Dec. 14, 1948 in Pittsburg. He was employed in the construction industry and attended Trinity Bethel Church in Daingerfield.
Survivors include his father David Haskell Young of Lone Star and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maydale Young and one brother, Clyde Wayne Young.
Bradshaw
PITTSBURG - The Rev. Howard Bradshaw, 91, of Pittsburg, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at Pittsburg Nursing Center.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsburg. The Revs. Paul Knight and J.C. Henderson officiated. Interment was at Macedonia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Bradshaw, David Bradshaw, Clifton Bradshaw, Richard Bradshaw, Jacob Shelton and Dustin Mercer.
The Rev. Bradshaw was born Aug. 24, 1909, in Camp County, the son of George Bailey Bradshaw and Birdie Edwards Bradshaw. He had lived in Pittsburg for most of his life. The Rev. Bradshaw had been a Baptist minister for more than 60 years. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Bradshaw of Pittsburg; sons and daughters-in-law Mickey and Margaret Bradshaw, George and Doloria Bradshaw, Buck and Karen Bradshaw and James Bradshaw, all of Pittsburg; step-daughters and husbands Frankie and Earl Mill of Tucson, Ariz. and Beverly and Lee Waybright of Denton; stepsons and wife Billy and Novella Whitehurst of Tucson, Ariz. and George Whitehurst of Winnsboro; sisters and brothers-in-law Dorothy and Johnny Franklin of Pittsburg, Cora Richardson of Pittsburg and Lynn and Roy Baxley of Malakoff; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Marie Bradshaw; son Nathan Earl Bradshaw; brothers Claude Bradshaw, Raymond Bradshaw and Travis Bradshaw; sisters Lottie McAlester, Mamie Stephens, Eva Greeney and Lola Groce; and his parents.

TALCO - Linnie Lee Creacy, 68, of Talco, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at Titus Regional Medical Center in Mount Pleasant.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Bates-Cooper Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Pleasant. Interment was at Collier’s Chapel Cemetery in Hagansport. Pallbearers were e Jeff Bradley, Donald Creacy, Lank Creacy, Jackie Harbour, Jerry Ottinger and Dalford Whitson.
Mr. Creacy was born Jan. 5, 1932, in Oakes, Okla. in Choctaw County. He was an oil field worker in several states and various countries overseas. In 1990 he worked in construction until he retired in 1997. He was married to Brenda Branson Creacy for 16 years.
He is survived by his wife Brenda Creacy of Talco; mother Benton Creacy of Borger; son and daughter-in-law Don and Mary Creacy of Versailles, Ky.; daughter Diane Morse of Talco; daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Jack Harbour of Shongaloo, La.; stepsons John and Ron Ivie of Abilene, Jeff Ivie of Lewisville and Gordon Ivie Jr. of Clyde; brothers and sisters-in-law Clarence and Carol Creacy of Borger, Donald and Shirley Creacy of Fritch and Lank and Eva Creacy of Lipan; sister and brother-in-law Judy and Dalford Whitson of Borger; 15 grandchildren, Chuck Creacy, Chris and Mike Morse, Quanah Bogess, Dustin Ivie, Britt and G.W. MOUNT VERNON - Otis Evans Jr., 47, of Mount Vernon, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, in Tyler.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Denton Baptist Church under the direction of Harvey Funeral Home of Mount Vernon. The Rev. J.C. Fountain officiated. Interment was at Denton Cemetery.
Mr. Evans was born March 7, 1953, in Mount Vernon, the son of Otis Evans Sr. and Barbara Robertson.
He is survived by his wife Jackie Evans of Mount Vernon; children Otis Evans III, Caneisha Evans, Tammy and Charles Rogers, all of Mount Vernon; brothers and sisters-in-law Michael and Macie Evans, Calvin and Reda Evans, Terry and Chranda Evans, Stevie Joe and Freda Evans, all of Mount Vernon; sisters and brothers-in-law Ladonna Evans, Sheila and Beralton Fountain, Sharan Fountain, all of Mount Vernon; grandmother Elnora Robertson of Mount Vernon; godson Mark Brannon of Mount Vernon; great-godson Marquavous Brannon of Mount Vernon. He was preceded in death by a daughter Jaquita Nicole in 1980; brother Patrick in 1992; and his parents.
Heath
PITTSBURG - R.V. Heath, 88, of Pittsburg, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at East Texas Medical Center in Pittsburg.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsburg. The Rev. Jim Price and Deacon Susan Price officiated. Interment was at Leesburg Cemetery. Pallbearers were be Harvey Hamm, Bill McDonald, Charles Coffey, Tim Truitt, Greg Ragsdale and Carey White.
Mr. Heath was born Dec. 31, 1911, in Titus County, the son of Robert V. Heath and Minnie Dee Maxey. He had lived in Pittsburg since 1980 and was a Baptist and a member of the Odd Fellows.
Mr. Heath was a retired maintenance foreman for the Dallas ISD.
He is survived by his stepson Larry Smith of Rowlett; daughters and sons-in-law Sue and Tommy Tomlinson of Pittsburg, Lou and Joe Tully of Talco, Ann Heath of Pittsburg; step-daughter Barbara Smith of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Clemys Heath; second wife Dean Heath; and his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the St. William Laud Episcopal Church on Lafayette Street in Pittsburg.
Justice
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Mount Pleasant native Charlie T. Justice, 61, of Los Angeles, Calif., died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at his residence in Los Angeles, Calif.
Mr. Justice was born Dec. 9, 1938, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Cap and Vera Faye Justice. He attended Booker T. Washington High School and lived in Mount Pleasant for 20 years before moving to Los Angeles, Calif. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. Mr. Justice was a retired truck driver. He was a veteran of the Vietname War.
He is survived by his brother Johnny Justice of Marino, Calif.; sisters Mary E. Sims of Vallejo, Calif., Dorothy Ross and Peggy Justice, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; niece Frances Justice of Mount Pleasant; other nieces and nephews and relatives. He was preceded in death by his brother Cap Justice Jr.; sister Lena Faye Justice; uncle Morris Justice; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Greater Faith Baptist Church in Los Angeles, Calif., under the direction of Harrison & Ross Funeral Home of Los Angeles, Calif. The Rev. Fred Autry will officiate. Interment will be at Riverside VA Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.

A private graveside service was held Sunday, Oct. 1, at Lone Star Cemetery under the direction of Bates-Cooper Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant.

McCoo
Telzie E. McCoo, 86, of Mount Pleasant died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000 in Titus Regional Medical Center.
Services were held at 1 p. m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at White Oak Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. Officiating was the Rev. Kirthell Roberts. Burial was in Piney Cemetery under the direction of Tumey Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Deacons of the church. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Raines, Marcus McCoo,Wil Adams, Kelvin Williams, Tim Ogletree, Myron McCoo, Alan Royal, Greg Ogletree and Jerron Mitchell.
Born July 26, 1914 in Mount Pleasant, Mr. McCoo was the son of Alexander and Classie (Allen) McCoo. He attended Booker T. Washington High School.
He was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for 60 years, church clerk, superintendent of Sunday School, chairman of the deacon board for 40 years, teacher of the Adult Men’s Bible Class and president of the usher board..
He retired from Lone Star Steel after 28 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie McCoo of Mount Pleasant; six daughters, Joy L.Raines of Austin, Jacquline Adams and Ruby E. Williams, both of Dallas; Joyce Dotson of Colleville, Janice Roval of Longview and Iva L. Islam of Los Angeles.; two sons, Telzie S. McCoo of Mount Pleasant and Boyd A. McCoo of Dallas; sister, Lucille Peal of Mount Pleasant; brother, Morris McCoo of Dallas, 16 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, two sisters and three brothers.
