Stephens
Jack Stephens, 74, of Mount Pleasant died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997 at All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth.
Services were held at 10 a. m. on Saturday, Dec. 19 at Bates-Cooper-Robison Chapel. Officiating will be Bro. J. Mack Rogers and Bro. Don Sides. Burial will be in Bridges Chapel Cemetery.
Born Dec. 11, 1922 in Boswell , Okla., Mr Stephens ws the son of Fre Stephens and Mavis (Hinson) Edwards Stephens. Both preceded him in death.
Mr. Stepehsn was a retired plant superintendent from Intrnational Sulphur Inc. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Mount Plesant and an Armyu veternan of World War II, serving in regions in Europe.
Survivors include34 his wife of 51 years, Jewel (Boyett) Stephens of Mount Pleasant;daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Delvin Wiles of Be4dford; daughter, Donna Stump of North Richland Hills, brother, Fred Stephens of Red Bluff, Calif.; sisters, LaRue Roberton of Mount Pleasant and Patsy Kirkham of Daingerfield; and grandchildren, Christie Williams of Irving and Jayson Wils and Trqvis Wiles, both of Bedford.
Tigert
Allen Tigert, 94, of Mount Pleasant died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997 at Currey's Nursing Home.
Services were held at 11 a. m. on Monday, Dec. 22 at Gladewater Baptist Church.
Officiating was Bro. Rickey Logan. Burial was at Gladewater Baptist Church under the direction of Bate-Cooper-Robison Funeral Home.
Born Oc. 24, 1903 in Titus County, Mrs. Tiger was the oldest member of the Gladewater Baptist Church. He was a retired manager of a meat packing plant.

Renee' Lawson of Nadogdoches; great grandchildrne , James BEnton of Woonsocket, R. I., Ashley Benton of Woonsocket, R. I., Eric Harper of Nacogdoches, Samatha Lawson of Nadogdeoches, and Stephanie Lawson of Nadogdoches; nephew, Cecil Cobb of Arizona; niece, Ailenne Hammonds of Mount Pleasant and numrso great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgie (Crooks) Tigert and a daughter, Peggy Benton.
Reed
James C. "Jimmy" Reed Sr., 89, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at his residence in Mount Pleasant.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Bates-Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Jamie Duncan officiated. Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were be Billy Carter, Perry Cooper, Carl Lee, Joe Ferrell, Rodney Cook, Ronald Traughber, Gene Campbell and Harold Stephens.
Mr. Reed was born Jan. 7, 1910 in Arkansas City, Kan., the son of James Clyde Reed and Emily Faye Thoms. He was an engineer and in the oil business. Mr. Reed married Thelma Smith in 1940. He was a 32 Mason for more than 50 years. Mr. Reed was employed as the chief engineer with Talco Asphalt & Refining Co. He was a member of The Elks Club and Lions Clubs. He retired in 1975 from Procon Inc.
He is survived by his wife Thelma Reed of Mount Pleasant; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Gabriela Reed Jr. and granddaughters Dawn Reed and Laura Reed, all of San Antonio; brother- and sister-in-law Morris and Yvonne Smith of Paris; brother-in-law Harold Smith of Cookville; niece Harolyn Keck of Cookville; nephew Jackson Smith of Cookville; several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rape
BOGATA - Erma Jean (Polly) Williams Rape, 68, of Bogata, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at East Texas Medical Center in Clarksville.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Sunset Baptist Church under the direction of Brown Rich Funeral Home. The Rev. George Rape officiated.
Mrs. Rape was born Nov. 21, 1930, the daughter of Clarence Williams and Cora Brooks Williams. She grew up in Red River County, attended elementary school and junior high school in Fulbright and graduated from Gibbons High School in Paris. Mrs. Rape was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist A.M.E. Church where she served as church secretary and was a member of the choir. Later she became a member of the Free Hope Baptist Church in Bogata and served that church as church secretary, mission secretary and choir member. She married George Rape on June 10, 1955.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, the Rev. George Rape of Bogata; sons Ronnie Dewayne Rape and Kenneth Ray Rape, both of Bogata; daughter-in-law Vanessa Jean Mitchell of Paris; granddaughter La Toya Sharutte Rape; sisters Bonnie Goodman of Paris, Charlene Harris of Fulbright; brother Arice Scales of Bogata; adopted son, daughter and granddaughter J.T., Carlene and Skylar Morgan of Mount Pleasant; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Martinez
Jose Angel Martinez Sr., 40, of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, in Tyler.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Bates-Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was at Apeso Cemetery in G.T.O. Apeso el. Gde. Mexico.
Mr. Martinez was born Aug. 26, 1959, in Mexico. He was a construction worker.
He is survived by his son Jose Angel Martinez Jr. of Dallas; daughter Stephine Angel Martinez of Dallas; brothers Damian Angel Martinez of Mount Pleasant; Antiono Angel Martinez, Aruthoro Angel Martinez and Juan Angel Martinez, all of Dallas; sisters Maria Angel Martinez, Antonia Angel Martinez, Alesia Angel Martinez, Rosa Angel Martinez, Hirma Angel Martinez and Sara Angel Martinez, all of Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Blackwell
Phil "Tence" Blackwell Jr., 83, of Mount Pleasant, died esday, Nov. 16, 1999, at his residence in Mount Pleasant.
Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Bates-Cooper Funeral Home. Bro. Jamie Duncan officiated.
Mr. Blackwell was born Jan. 2, 1916, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Phil Blackwell Sr. and Maggie Cochran Blackwell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mr. Blackwell had been employed as a car salesman.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Phil and Dianne Blackwell of Mount Pleasant; grandson Taylor Blackwell of Austin; granddaughters Diana Reese of Texarkana, Donna Blackwell of Mount Pleasant; step-grandchildren Mike Daugherty of Oklahoma City, Okla., Brian Daugherty of Seattle, Wash., and Kevin Daugherty of Benning, Ga. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou Taylor Blackwell; son John David Blackwell; brothers R.T. Blackwell and Marlon Blackwell; sister Marie Smith; and his parents.
Barrett
PITTSBURG - Nancy J. Barrett, 69, of Pittsburg, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at East Texas Medical Center-Pittsburg.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Farmers Academy Cemetery. Steven Barrett officiated.
Mrs. Barrett was born Oct. 9, 1930, in Pattonville, the daughter of William Homer Moore and Mable Clara McDowra Moore. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband James Barrett of Pittsburg; sons David Barrett of Pittsburg, Rick Barrett of Ferris, Chris Barrett of Tampa, Fla., Steven Barrett of Longview; daughter Cindy Reynolds of Harlingen; sisters Meryl Montgomery and Mildred Henson, both of Garland; 13 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Billy Joe Moore; and her parents.
Smith
PITTSBURG - Herman Smith, 81 of Pittsburg died Friday, Nov. 19,1999 in East Texas Medical Center.
Services were held at 10 a. m. On Monday, Nov. 22 at Erman Smith Funeral Home.
Officiating was the Rev. Brian Johnson. Burial was in Crossroads Cemetery in Camp County.
Pallbearers were Kent Martin, John Kaylor, Reggie Brummell, Joe Hefner and Randall Smith.
Born March 5, 1918 in Camp County, Mr. Smith was the son of Willie and Leon Talley Smith.
He had resided in Pittsburg since 1972 and was retired from the civil service. He served three terms on the Camp County Commissioners Court.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a disabled veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Iris Dean Smith of Pittsburg, two sons and daughters-in-law, Albert Hugh and Sharon Smith of Pittsburg and John D. and Judy Smith of Morristown, Ariz.; and a twin brother, Therman Smith of Lynos, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, a granddaughter , two brothers and a sister.
Heavin
Mrs. Ettie E. Heavin, 76, of Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at Titus Regional Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements will be under the direction of Bates-Cooper Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant.
Mrs. Heavin was born Jan. 24, 1923 in Houston, the daughter of Abner Benard Green and Ettie Mae James Green. She was a homemaker and a member of the Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Andrew Louis Heavin Jr. of Mount Pleasant; sons Herbert Heavin of India Homa, Okla., Terry Heavin of Cookville, Jerry Heavin of Houston; daughter Janice (Niece) Jones of Mount Pleasant; brothers Abner (Rex) Green of Houston and James (Jimmy) Green of Crosby; sisters Audrey Mullins of Crosby and Viola Murski of Kingwood; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Benard Heavin; sister Ellen (Sissy) Jane and her parents.
Douglas
PITTSBURG - John D. Douglas, 77, of Pittsburg, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Longview Regional Medical Center in Longview.
Graveside funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mobile, Ala. under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home of Pittsburg.
Mr. Douglas was born Feb. 25, 1922 in Mobile, Ala., the son of Horace M. and Maggie Wells Douglas. He served in the U.S Army during World War II. Mr. Douglas was a truck driver for LeeWay Motor Co. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pittsburg. Mr. Douglas had lived in Garland before moving to Pittsburg. He had lived in Pittsburg for the past 13 years.
He is survived by his wife Mary R. Douglas of Pittsburg; sons Donald Douglas and John Andrew Douglas, both of Gulf Port, Miss.; stepsons Michael Dyess of Garland, and Joel and Jeffery Dyess, both of Corpus Christi; daughter Margaret Beach of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother William Douglas of Pensacola, Fla.; five grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Lonnie W. Wensel Jr.

BRENHAM — Memorial services for Lonnie W. Wensel Jr., 62, of Brenham are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.
Bob Van Meter will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Wensel died Sunday at his home.
He was born in Brenham and served in the U.S. Army. He was a machinist for FMC Corporation for 30 years.
Survivors include two sons, Chris K. Wensel of Montara, Calif., and Brian K. Wensel of Houston; a daughter, Debbie J. Kvinge of Houston; a brother, Gerald Wensel of Houston; and two grandchildren.

BRENHAM — Graveside services for Bernice Zavodny, 65, of Brenham are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Cemetery in Chappell Hill.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.
Mrs. Zavodny died Sunday in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham.
She was born in Chappell Hill and attended Chappell Hill schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Zavodny.
Survivors include a brother, Pete Krotofil of Brenham.
Memorials may be made to a fund at Wells Fargo Bank to help the family defray expenses.
Finnie A. Cummings

SOMERVILLE — Services for Finnie A. Cummings, 93, of Somerville are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville.
The Rev. Mark Pedersen will officiate. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Cummings died Monday at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
He was born in the Merle community of Burleson County. He was a rancher.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rose Cummings of Winnie, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Cindee Cummings of Fannett, Texas, and Finnie Jr. and Patty Cummings of Yorba Linda, Calif.; a sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Charlie Lednicky of Snook; and three grandchildren.
Bessie O. Drahem

Services for Bessie O. Drahem, 91, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Elizabeth Lutheran Church in Caldwell.

Mrs. Drahem died Tuesday at Sherwood Health Care in Bryan.
She was born in Burleson County. She was a homemaker and member of Elizabeth Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Julius Drahem.

DALLAS — Services were held Tuesday for Reva Simms, 76, at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Bryan.
Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas.
Mrs. Simms died Thursday.
