LONE STAR - Carlos Perez Maya, 50, of Lone Str, died Monday, July 16, 2001.
Funeral services weree at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21 at John R. Harmon Undertaking Chapel in Daingerfield. Elder Willie E. Searcy officiated.
Mr. Maya was born Nov. 4, 1950 in Mexico. He was a factory worker and a Catholic.
He is survived by his wife, Hannah A. Perez of Lone Star; father, Agustin Perez Acuna; mother, Felipa Maya Rodriguez; five sons; four daughters; eight brothers; two sisters; two grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
Smith
Minnie Irene Smith, 92 of Mount Pleasant died Friday, July 20,2001 at Vintage Lace.
Graveside services were at 2 p. m. on Sunday, July 22 at Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Bates-Cooper Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Newton officiated.
Born Nov. 30, 1908 in Titus County, She was the daughter of David Ralp;h and Martha Beatrice Johnson Smith. She was a Duke & Ayres area manager and a member of the First Presbyterian. Church.
Survivors include nephews Michael Smith of Jackson, Miss. and Ralph Smith of Dallas; nephew ad spouse , David and Paulette Dubose of Mount Pleasant; niece and spouse, Martha Jo and Rust Talbot of Mesquite; three great nieces and one great great niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Oscar Smith and Harvey Smith and sisters, Lucille Stinson and Dovie Dubose.
Thigpen
Thelma Michels Thigpen, 88, of Omaha died Friday, July 20, 2001 in Omaha.
Services were at 3 p. m. on Sunday, July 22 Alexander Chapel in Naples. Officiating was the Rev. Lanny Peek. Interment was in Springhill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Charles Barger, Jeff Clubb, Austin Womack Sydney Kyles , Lynn Riner and Randy Teel.
Born June 23, 1913 in Anadarko, Ok., Mrs. Thigpen was a retired restaurant owner. She had owned and operated the Dairy Bar in Omaha from 1963 to 1977. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a longtime resident of Omaha.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Ouida Michels of Lone Star and Richard and Vivian Michels of Omaha. one brothes, Everett Williams of Strang, Ok. , 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Boykin
HUGHES SPRINGS - Cynthia Faye Boykin, 43, of Hughes Springs, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001 in Tyler.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10 at Veal Switch Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Swilling and Doye Wilbanks officiated. Interment was in Veal Switch Cemetery under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.
Mrs. Boykin was born May 13, 1958 in Houston. She attended Veal Switch Baptist Church, worked as an auctioneer for Auction American and was a former paramedic with North West Rural Ambulance Service in Tombal. She also was a volunteer for the Hughes Springs ambulance service, and an EMT instructor. Mrs. Boykin was an antique dealer, a member of The Boykin Spaniel Society and a volunteer for the Christian Service Center.
She is survived by her son Jason Boykin of Hughes Springs; parents Jim and Faye Boykin of Avinger; fiancee Roger D. Daniel of Hughes Springs; grandmother Mavis “Nana” Phillips of Houston; grandfather Felix Phillips of Houston; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

MOUNT VERNON - Louis Jean Fountain Jr., 69, of Mount Vernon, died Saturday, June 2, 2001 at North Central Medical Center Hospital in McKinney.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9 at Denton Baptist Church. The Rev. L.B. Fountain officiated. Interment was in Denton Cemetery under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking. Pallbearers were Noble Dunlap Jr., Timothy Ransom, Walter Reeves, Elmer Joe Fountain, L.J. Doss and Clifford Bishop. Honorary pallbearers were Mr. Fountain’s brothers and brothers-in-law.
Mr. Fountain was born March 8, 1932 in Mount Vernon. He lived in Collin County most of his life and was affiliated with the Church of Christ. Hew was a retired butcher.
He is survived by his sons Thomas Fountain of Lancaster, Lewis C. Fountain of Dallas, Daniel W. Boyd of Gainesville, Flor., Chris Boyd of McKinney; daughter Stacey L. Boyd of McKinney; brothers Milton Fountain of Mount Vernon, Paul Fountain of Dallas, L.G. Fountain of Mount Vernon, Perry Dunlap of Plano, T.C. Fountain of Dallas; sisters Fay Ellis, Mamie Doss, Katie Mae Fountain, all of Mount Vernon, Ethelyn Robertson of Wake Village, Vessie M. Thomas, Rosetta Thomas, both of Sulphur Springs; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous other relatives and friends.

Rosetta Hall, 90, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001 in Sulphur Springs.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9 at Sheppard Street Church of Christ. Interment was in Old West Side Cemetery under the direction of Tumey Mortuary. Pallbearers were Marcus Birl, Lavoil Crump, Victor Cepero, Frederick Johnson, Anthony Palmer and Percy Palmer. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the church.
Mrs. Hall was born Oct. 18, 1910 in Mount Pleasant. She was retired.
She is survived by her daughter Nora Mangram of Sulphur Springs; sisters Frankie Mangram, Patsy Mayshack, both of Mount Pleasant; granddaughter Peggy Cepero of Chicago, Ill.; grandsons Percy Palmer, Frederick Johnson, both of Denver, Colo.; great grandsons Anthony Palmer of Los Angeles, Calif., Victor Cepero of Kenosha, Wis.; great-granddaughters Christie Rangle of Chicago, Ill., Melynda King of Chicago, Ill.; great-great grandsons Luis Rangle Jr. of Chicago, Ill., Ramiro Cepero of Kenosha, Wis., Joshua Rangle of Chicago, Ill., Victor Cepero Jr. of Kenosha, Wis.; great-great granddaughter Victoria King of Chicago, Ill. She was preceded in death by Annie Floyd, Junie Evans, Albert Mangram.

SALTILLO - Helen Hatchel, 87, of Saltillo, died Monday, June 4, 2001 in Winnsboro.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 6 at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Pepper Puryear officiated. Interment was in Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas under the direction of Harvey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
Mrs. Hatchel was born June 20, 1913 in Franklin County, the daughter of Walter S. Burns and Mildred Cole. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children Pat Hatchel of Euless, Gwendolyn Kidd of Mesquite, Michael Hatchel of Irving, Stephen Hatchel of McKinney; sister Mildred Loving of Saltillo; brothers Clint Burns of Phoenix, Ariz, Weldon Burns of Plano; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Eldon Hatchel in 1980.

PITTSBURG - Elizabeth Darby (Betty), 87, of Monroe, La., died Friday, June 8, 2001 at Glenwood Medical Center in Monroe.
Graveside services were at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 11 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg. Officiating was the Rev. Steve Packer. Erman Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
A 2 p.m. service was held on Sunday, June 10 at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe., La.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John Alan and Nancy Williams of Monroe; daughter and son-in-law, Janet Williams Leblanc and Louis Leblanc of Shreveport, La.; one brother, Paul W. Thorsell of Pittsburg and one sister, Jane Darby Kelly of Houston and six grandchildren.

Ruben McGill, 86, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, June 3, 2001 at Titus Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 7 at Piney Baptist Church. The Rev. Vernon Minter officiated. Interment was in Piney Cemetery in Mount Pleasant under the direction of Tumey Mortuary.
Mr. McGill was born March 29, 1915 in Mount Pleasant, the son of Bent and Bythe McGill. He was a laborer for Reynolds Metal Co.
He is survived by his step daughter Felicia Aldridge of De Soto; step-son Kevin Dexter Traylor of Tulsa, Okla.; special nieces Lula Minter of Mount Pleasant, Beulah Bellamy of San Diego, Calif.; special great-niece Debra Davis of Mount Pleasant; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wives Valerie Ellis McGill and Lee Chappell McGill.

PICKTON COMMUNITY - Bonnie Presley McGlamery, 94, of the Pickton Community, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at Mission Manor.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Friday, June 8 at Pine Forest Cemetery in Hopkins County under the direction of Harvey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. The Rev. Johnny Hicks officiated.
Mrs. McGlamery was born May 1, 1907 in Yowell, the daughter of Barney F. Presley and Mary Elizabeth Brim. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a longtime resident of the Pickton Community.
She is survived by her sisters Lucille Pemberton and Naomi Rainbolt, both of Commerce; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. McGlamery in 1994; brothers Henry Presley, B.F. Presley; sisters Ima Phillips, Eula Sansing, Opal Phillips.
