Patsy McMains
Eula Mae (Patsy) Nichols McMains, 74, of Waco, passed away Monday morning, May 5, 2003, in Hillcrest Hospital.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Christian Life Church, 3015 Robinson Drive, with Pastor Robert Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood. Lunch for family and friends will be served at the church at 12 noon.
VISITATION: Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque, right across from the Heart of Texas Fair Grounds. A memorial videotape of Patsy's life created by OakCrest Funeral Home will be shown during the visitation.
PERSONAL HISTORY: Patsy was born February 19, 1929, in Waco and lived here all of her life. She was raised in the Edgefield neighborhood, and as a young girl attended the 202 Bosque Church. She was a housewife and was a proud member of Christian Life Church in Robinson.
Patsy enjoyed crocheting and fishing, and she read her Bible faithfully. She had a wonderful network of friends who kept each other company over the phone. Patsy loved to watch wrestling and NASCAR racing, and those who called her during these times quickly learned they had to call back.
Patsy dedicated her whole life to the Lord. It was comforting to the family that on the night before she died Patsy talked to the Lord in the Spirit and found great peace.
SURVIVORS: She leaves a son, Jack McMains and wife Christine of Waco; a daughter, Cheryl Ann Neyland and husband Randy of Gatesville; brothers, Tommy Nichols of Roseville, Calif., and Edgar Nichols of Bloomfield, Mo.; sisters, Susie Hipps of Waco and Mary Garman of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and grandchildren, Candy Martin, Leanne McMains, Matthew Perez, and Melody Caldwell, all of Waco.

Edward M. Helton
Edward Mills Helton, 86, of Speegleville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 13, 2003, at his residence.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, at the OakCrest Funeral Home chapel, 4520 Bosque Blvd. Rev. Joe Bailey will officiate. Burial will be in the Harris Creek Cemetery.
VISITATION: Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial videotape of his life prepared by OakCrest Funeral Home will be shown during the visitation.
PERSONAL LIFE: Mr. Helton was born May 30, 1916, in the Speegleville community to Jesse Edward and Effie Margaret (Mills) Helton. He married Jean M. Ruff on January 25, 1942, in Bryan. After graduating from Speegleville High School, he attended Baylor University for a year. He graduated from Texas A & M in 1937. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.
Mr. Helton worked for the Soil Conservation Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture until his retirement in 1978. He also farmed in the Bosqueville Community from 1952 ? 1966.
He was a member and deacon at Speegleville Baptist Church. He was formerly a member of the Lions Club and the Kiwanis Clubs in the various communities where he worked.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Arthur L. (Hobby) Helton; his sister, Virginia Wilson, and a grandson, Jonathon Mills Helton.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean M. Helton; son, Bill Helton and his wife Susan of Speegleville; daughter, Peggy Ann McDonald and husband Alex of Magnolia; six grandchildren, Matthew and Jon Helton, Mischa Hutchings, Ian, Dillan and Thomas McDonald, and several nieces and nephews.
MEMORIALS: Memorial may be made to the Speegleville Baptist Church.
Diane Bergstrom
Diane Krapovicky Bergstrom, 56, of Waco, died Wednesday morning, May 7, 2003, at her home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Richard Roland officiating.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Diane was born on September 4, 1946 in Lewiston, Maine to Alex and Janet (Mercier) Krapovicky. She was united in marriage to Robert Bergstrom on October 19, 1973 in San Antonio.
She is survived by her husband of thirty years Robert; father, Alec and Step-mother Pat Krapovicky of Maine; brother, Lee Krapovicky and wife Charlotte of Maine; niece, Angela and nephew Derrick.
She was a 'a loving wife and friend for eternity.'

Stephen Dale Page, 48, of Waco, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, in Waco.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque. Burial will be in Rosemound. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial videotape of Stephen's life prepared by OakCrest Funeral Home will be shown during visitation.
Stephen was born October 19, 1954, in Waco to Ralph and Margaret Page. He proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, and he was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Page, who died in 2002, and his parents.
He is survived by son, Steven Page and his wife Mandy of Killeen; daughter, Shere McPhalen and her husband Michael of Waco; granddaughter, Allyssa McPhalen of Waco; and sister, Sandra Hale of Texas City.
George Gibbs
George Theron Gibbs, 88, of Hewitt died Tuesday May 13, 2003 at a local hospital. Services will be at a later date under the direction of OakCrest Funeral Home.
George was born on January 25, 1915 in Ramona, CA to Theron and Birdy (Grimmel) Gibbs. He was united in marriage to Clara Hansford whom preceded him in death in 1986. He was a Baptist and had retired from the United States Navy. '
He is survived by his daughter Cheryl Thornhill and husband Gary of Hewitt; son, Fred Moore of Fresno, CA; grandchildren, James and Jamie Bartee of Hewitt and Tiffany Moore of Fresno, CA.
George was a loving father, grandfather and friend. He was a very unselfish and caring person whom will be greatly missed.
Ann Hightower
Ann (Gangie) Hightower, 77, of Waco, died Monday, May 12, 2003 at a local hospital. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Waco Memorial Park. OakCrest Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Ann was born May 6, 1926 in Lubbock to Roy Lee and Melva (Patterson) Jones. She was united in marriage to R.J. Hightower. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she loved to work with ceramics. Her grandchildren lovingly called her Gangie.
She is survived by her husband, R.J. of Waco; sons, Mike Julesen and wife Ellen of Waco, Richard Hightower and wife Jeanett of Winters, Ca., and Gregory Hightower of Waco; sisters, Mary Lee Durkin of Waco, and Mimeola Grey of Virginia; special son, Jerry Farrar and wife Susan of Waco; special daughter, Sandy Richardson of Allen, Tx.; and favorite nieces, Lahoma Anderson of Waco and Donna Thede of California; seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Ruby Clapper
Ruby Doris Clapper, 73, of Hewitt, passed away Wednesday morning, May 14, 2003 at Ridgecrest Retirement Center.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, at OakCrest Funeral Home chapel, 4520 Bosque Boulevard. Burial will be in Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. A memorial videotape of Ruby's life created by OakCrest Funeral Home will be shown during the visitation.
Ruby was born July 31, 1929, in Lyford, Texas, to Henry and Vesta (Pierce) Whisenant. She was a retired underwriter from American Income Life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Raymond Clapper, in 1995, and a daughter, Vivian Lee Clapper, in 1998.
She is survived by sons, Carroll Ray Clapper and wife Carla of Hewitt, Richard Russell Clapper and wife Kim of Saledo, and Richard Russell Clapper III of Hewitt; granddaughter, Jennifer Clapper of Waco; grandson, Jacob Clapper of Hewitt; brothers, Norman Whisenant of Wimberly and Carl Whisenant of Lorena; sisters, Lillie Cochran of Martindale and Edith Crisp of Kingsville; sister-in-law, Bettie Clapper of Waco; and niece, Dorothea Johnson of Waco.

Jacqueline Lois Styer Hackman was born November 4, 1926 in Lancaster, Pa., and moved to Abbott, Texas, in November, 1972.
She was received in Heaven by Jesus on Wednesday, May 14, 2003.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2003 in the OakCrest Funeral Home chapel, 4520 Bosque.
She is survived by her children, Anita Grisby and husband Del, Timothy Hackman and wife Jennifer, Elliott Hackman and wife Linda, Richard A. Hackman, and Rebecca Hackman and husband Richard; brothers, Bip, Bob and Jere Styer; sisters, June Walton and Marian Hackman; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Though riches in life were not to be hers, the love of her children was and for her that was enough.
Miguel (Mike) Sanchez
Miguel (Mike) Angel Sanchez, 69, of Waco, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 14, 2003.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the OakCrest Funeral Home chapel, 4520 Bosque, with Bert Mercer officiating. Graveside services with full military honors will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home. A memorial videotape of his life will be shown during visitation.
Mike was born July 10, 1933, in Puerto Rico to Juan and Juanita (Soto) Sanchez. He married Gertrude Garcia on Nov. 9, 1952 in Waco. He was educated at the McLennan Community College, Baylor University, and the American Academy of Dramatic Art. He was a former deputy sheriff with the McLennan County Sheriff?s office and he retired as a reserve deputy. Mike retired with the rank of sergeant from the Air Force.
Mike graduated from the Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, and was a Church of Christ minister. He did missionary service in Puerto Rico, and was currently a member of the Brookview Church of Christ. His favorite past time was spending quality time with his grandchildren, family, and traveling.
Mike is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gertrude Sanchez; sons, John M. Sanchez and wife Ginny, Carlos Sanchez, Greg Sanchez, Ricky Sanchez and wife Becky, and Steven Sanchez , Eric Sanchez, and Mark Sanchez; daughters, Lisa King and husband Jay, and Margie Moore and husband Tony; 17 grandchildren; sisters, Zizaida Sanchez, Olga Rosario, and Celina Sanchez, all of Puerto Rico, and Emilia Rivera of New York; nephew, Ricardo Rivera; and nieces, Rosemary Torres and Lisett Baez, and family from Dallas and Killeen.
Mike was a loving husband, father, and wonderful grandpa who touched many lives, and will be greatly missed.
Mamie Russell
Mamie May Russell, 99, of Waco, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at Quality Care.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home chapel with Ronnie Holms officiating.
Burial will be Tuesday at Russell Cemetery in Clarksville, Texas.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.
Mamie was born on November 9, 1903 in Beaumont. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Erskine Russell; sons, Jim Russell, Erskine Russell, Jr. and Kyle Russell.
She is survived by her daughter, Ella Ruth Thornton; son, Michael Allen Russell; grandchildren, Jack D. Thornton II, Debra Young, Gena Markum, Wesley and Christian Russell; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren all of Waco.
She was a good mama and loving grandmother.
