Mrs. Nix
Eunice Louise ( Sue ) Nix, 95, died at Hamilton Dec. 9, 2004. Funeral services were held Dec. 13, in the First Baptist Church in Hamilton with Dr. Tim Moody officiating. Burial followed in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
She was born May 14, 1909 in Hamilton, the daughter of Ben and Corda Williams. She graduated from Hamilton High School and the University of Texas where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta social sorority. Mrs. Nix did graduate work at Baylor University.
She taught Home Economics in Hamilton High School where she met and married then Superintendent Cecil Nix in 1931. She also taught Home Economics in Flatonia as well as second grade in Cranfills Gap and Port Lavaca.
Mr. and Mrs. Nix moved back to Hamilton from Port Lavaca after their retirement. She was an active member of the Central Christian Church in Hamilton until it closed in the 1980s. She then became a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton.
In the early 1960s, Mrs. Nix was honored to give the commencements address to the graduation class at Cranfills Gap High School. She had taught the graduates when they were in the second grade.
She was an active volunteer for several years in the United Care organization where she was awarded their first Distinguished Service Award. She was active in the Retired Teachers Association for many years as well as the Delta Kappa Gamma retired teachers sorority. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her two sons, Ben C. Nix and his wife, Anna Lou, of Arlington, and Cecil A. Nix Jr. (Andy) and his wife, Sandra, of Glastonbury, Ct.; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family has designated for memorials the Hamilton Public Library 201 N. Pecan St. Hamilton or the Hamilton United Care P.O. Box 212, Hamilton, TX 76531.

Mr. Reinert
Monroe Adolph Reinert, 84, died Dec. 7, 2004 at Hamilton. Funeral services were held Dec. 10 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Russell Nebhut officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Mr. Reinert was born on June 12, 1920, one of the four children of Otto and Dora (Kauitzsch) Reinert of Pottsville.
He grew up with his brother and sisters working on the family farm, and later working in the feed mill the family owned. It was during these years he learned the skills which would be useful to him for the rest of his life.
During World War II, he was called upon to serve his country. He was sent to the Pacific theater where he served in the Philippines and in Papua New Guinea. When World War II ended, Monroe returned home and married Wanda (Tookie) Little.
The Reinert family was involved in many endeavors, each tied closely to what Monroe learned as he grew up on the family farm. They took over the family feed mill and in addition to this Monroe owned a chicken farm, hog farm, and even a peach orchard. He then opened a fertilizer business and found he was able to meet a unique need for the farmers of the community. He worked in this business for the remainder of his life.
While Mr. Reinert was a hard worker, he found time to enjoy life with family and friends. He loved his family and he had many close friends who shared his love of hunting and the outdoors. Together they took many trips to Colorado and New Mexico hunting and celebrating their friendship.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lorine Brice and Norma Baumgardner.
Survivors include Tookie, his wife of 57 years; his son, Ray Reinert and wife Susan of Hamilton; two daughters, Cathy Brumbalow and husband Ben of Hamilton, and Lori Dean and husband Jeff of Round Rock; his brother, Alfred Reinert and wife Joyce of Hamilton; seven grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren who are his legacy.
Pallbearers were Jeff Brumbalow, Arron Sparks, Clay Sparks, Chad Reinert, Dustin Reinert and David Reinert.
Honorary Pallbearers were Hardie Jones, Bobby Stephens, Ewalt Wulf and Carl Brumgardner.

Mrs. Bubert

Mildred Wilhelmine Schulze Bubert, 82, died in Temple at her son's home on Feb. 3, 2006. Funeral services were held Feb. 6 at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Shive with Pastor B.I. Dahl officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery .
Mrs. Bubert was born March 7, 1923 in Brenham, the daughter of Charles Schulze and Ida Grabarschiek Schulze. She lived in Hamilton County most of her life.
On Jan. 1, 1944, she was married to Herbert Bubert in Shive.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a homemaker and worked as a cook at several area nursing homes.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, sewing, and listening to gospel music.
Survivors include her son, Larry Bubert and his wife Kay of Temple; a granddaughter, Rebecca Wagner and her husband Wayne one great-granddaughter Catherine Wagner all of Belton; a sister, Charlene Spitzenberger of McGregor and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, and two brothers, Willis and Leland Schulze.
Pallbearers were Ed Schulze, Carl Bubert, Alvin Bubert, Johnny Wagner Sr.,
Johnny Wagner Jr., Jerry Bloodworth, and Jerry Bubert.
Honorary Pallbearers were Mike Schulze, Ronnie Schulze, Steve Schulze and Arthur Spitzenburger.
The family has designated St. Paul Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association for memorials.

Mr. Faubion

Walter Eugene Faubion, 96, died Feb. 6 at a Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services were held Feb. 8 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Pearl Cemetery.
Mr. Faubion was born Feb. 28, 1909 in Evant, the seventh of thirteen children born to Joseph Eugene Faubion and Alice Pearl Enochs Faubion.
He was a farmer and rancher in the Ireland and Aleman area for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Faubion; a daughter, Nola Faye Kunkel; a great-grandson, Eric Lilljedahl and eleven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his daughters, Ludean Lilljedahl Henderson and Joy Schwalbe; a sister, Alice Eugenia Davis; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Massingill

Velma Louise Massingill, 82 of Hamilton, died Feb. 6 in Hamilton.
Graveside services were set for 10 a.m. Feb. 8 I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hamilton with Rev. Keith Felton officiating.
Mrs. Massingill was born Sept. 2, 1923 in Bell County, the daughter of Robert H. Wood and Unia Bell Beasley Wood.
On March 16, 1940 she was married to Otis William Massingill. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1987.
Mrs. Massingill was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She served the community of Hamilton for many years working at West Cleaners, cooking at the Spotted Horse Restaurant and Hailes Pizza. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband and a son, Otis Earl Massingill.
Survivors include her two daughters, Verla Louise Lanmon and husband Herman of Hamilton and Barbara Ann Jarrett and husband Tom of Crockett; three grandchildren, Herman Walter Lanmon Jr. and wife Ginger of Hamilton; James David Lanmon and wife Shari of McGregor and Jeffery Wood Brumbalow and wife Melissa of Plano; seven great-grandchildren, Bradley, Chelsea, Corbin and Lauren Lanmon of Hamilton; Kristi and Cheyanne Lanmon of McGregor and Calvin Brumbalow of Plano; four sisters, Era Mae Stubblefield of Lufkin, Nelda Ernestine Shelton of Belton, Robbie Timmons of Gatesville and Vera Faye Payne of Denton; four brothers:, Robert Hoyett Wood of Hamilton, Trussie James Wood of Houston, Odis Lee Whaley of Seguin and Bob Whaley of Hamilton.

Mrs. Lester

Vivian Agnes Lester was born Jan. 5, 1925 in Yoakum, the daughter of William and Ella Wingate.
The family belonged to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Yoakum, where, on April 26, 1925, she was born into Christ in the waters of Holy Baptism.
During her early childhood the Wingate family moved to Houston where they joined Zion Lutheran Church and in May of 1939 she stood before the Lord’s altar and proclaimed her faith in Jesus Christ and was confirmed in her baptismal faith.
She later met and married M. V. Lester in Orange. The family moved several times, living in Austin before moving to Hamilton.
Mrs. Lester’s life was not easy, and many times it was not pleasant. Through the struggles she faced, it was her deep faith in Jesus and all the promises of God which enabled her to endure. Her church became her place of refuge in the midst of life’s storms. She poured her heart out in service to others, using the gifts and talents given to her by God to be a blessing.
Mrs. Lester had a beautiful singing voice and she used this gift as often as she could. Her voice blessed countless worship services, funerals, and other gatherings as she sang in church choirs and graced people with her solos.
She was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran and she loved working with the ladies of the Ruth Guild.
When her husband died in 1991 Vivian chose to stay in Hamilton. She lived the rest of her life trusting in God’s promises and looking forward to seeing loved ones and friends when she joined them in eternity.
Mrs. Lester was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Bubba Wingate.
Survivors include her two sisters, Margie Spillner of Dallas and Shirley Miller of Colorado Springs, Colo.; her children, Pauletta Berry and husband Dean of Georgetown, Alice Hughes and husband Charles of Austin, Kay Butler and husband Ron of Leander, Oran Lester and wife Helen of Austin, Michael Lester of Austin, Weldon Lester and wife Linda of San Antonio and Arlene Locke of Hamilton; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jerry Berry, Dale Butler, Billy Lawson, Gary Schoen, Charlie Bottlinger and Ollie Zschiesche.

Mr. Dill

Ovid C. Dill, 78, Sgt. U.S. Army Ret., died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006. Funeral services were Thursday in the Greenwood Garden Chapel, followed by burial in the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery with full military honors.
Dill was born Aug. 4, 1927 in Sullivan, Mo. to Hugh and Edith Jackson Dill. As a child and young man, he was a spelunker and cave guide for Meramec and Fisher Caverns in Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Betty Lee Martin Dill and numerous siblings and in-laws.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a career that took him and his family to various locations and provided many favorite memories of travel and friends. Ovid and Betty enjoyed their later years traveling the United States by RV and were active in the S.M.A.R.T. military retirees club.
The Dills lived in Hamilton during the early 1970s. Mr. Dill served as administrator at the Hamilton General Hospital.
Survivors include daughters: Mary Alice Clark and Melanie Bishop and husband, Mark; granddaughters, Vespa Leigh Stuckey and husband, Patrick, and Megan Nicole Bishop; sister, Laura Rethmeyer and husband, James; sister-in-law, Sybil Shuck and husband, Wayne; and brother-in-law, HC “Bud” Martin and wife, Ann; and sister-in-law, Jacqueline Martin.
Memorials may be made to the Perpetual Care of The Avenue of Flags, c/o T.N.C.F., 952 N. Hwy. 67, Cedar Hill, TX 75104.

Mrs. Head

Hazel Jo Head, died April 14, 2006 in Hico. Services were held April 15, at Rutledge-Jones Funeral Chapel in Hico. Burial followed at the Clairette Cemetery.
Mrs. Head was born Jan. 29, 1916 in Clairette, the daughter of George and Susie Salmon.
She was the last living charter member of the Busy Bee Club in Clairette. She was active in the HD Club and a member of the Clairette Methodist Church and later a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hico.
She was on the board of the Clairette Cemetery Association and served as the Secretary-Treasurer for more than thirty years. She was very active in the community of Clairette and was awarded the Masonic Lodge’s Builder’s Award for her many contributions to the community.
Mrs. Head was an expert seamstress. She designed and created clothes for her daughters and grandchildren and she also sewed professionally.
She also enjoyed going to gospel singings and attended many National Gospel Conventions throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, William (Bill) W. Head and two grandsons, William (Billy) Paul Allen and Terry Layne Magee.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Allen and husband Paul, of Clairette and Gayle Magee and husband, Jerry, of Clairette; five grandchildren, Susan Latham and husband Johnny of Carlton, Karen Herrin of Fort Worth, Bobby Dee Allen and wife, Kristie, of Minnetonka, Minn., Ben Allen and wife, Mandy, of Barry, and Linda Lowrey and husband, Ron of Clairette; 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to The Clairette Cemetery Association, Box 25, Hico, TX 76457 in memory of Hazel Head.

Mr. Winters

Thomas Earl Winters, 71, of Goldthwaite died April 16 at his home. Funeral services were set for April 19 at 1 p.m. at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home in Goldthwaite with Jay Fraze, Scott Herren, Layton Black and George Wheeler officiating. Burial will be at Murphree Cemetery in Evant.
Mr. Winters was born May 17, 1934 in Hamilton, the son of Thomas William Winters and Edna Earl Guffee.
He was married to Wynona Joan Barnett on Dec. 10, 1955 in Goldthwaite. He was a rancher and moved to C Bar Ranch from Goodrich Ranch in 1959. He was a Methodist.
Mr. Winters was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Tommy Joe Winters.
Survivors include his wife, Wynona Winters of Goldthwaite; two daughters, Molly Earl Winters and Maggy Katherine Jones and husband Craig Randolph, all of Goldthwaite; grandchildren, Thomas Marshall Winters and wife Cheyenne, Thomas Randolph James, Marla Katherine Jones and Nicholas Alexander Jones, all of Goldthwaite; a great-granddaughter, Mia LaFray Winters of Goldthwaite; a brother, David William Winters of Del Rio and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers were Tommy Adams, Billy Bob Barnett, Mitt Lloyd, Thomas Lloyd, Charlie Schuman, Carl Varner.
Honorary pallbearers were Ed Barrett, Weldon Cloud, John Fulton, Nolan Green, Henry Langford, Jim Runyan and Joe York.

Mrs. McKandless

Emma McKandless, 95, of Hamilton died April 13, 2006 at the Hamilton Healthcare Center. Funeral Services were April 15, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Peter K. Anderson officiating. Burial followed in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Shive.
Mrs. McKandless was born November 15, 1910 in Burton, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Overman.
She was married to Albert Knipstein on Dec. 19, 1936. He preceded her in death in May of 1946. She was married to Joe McKandless in January of 1949. He preceded her in death in July of 1980.
Mrs. McKandless has lived in this area since 1936 and was a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She also Operated Joe’s Washeteria laundry service in Hamilton for many years and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Marie McKandless Rogers and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Steve McKandless, Tim Rogers, Don Rogers and Stan Alexander.
Honorary pallbearers were Lester Wood, Bolding Cole, Jr. and Jimmy Ray McKandless.

Mr. Tiemann

Raymond Carl (Pete) Tiemann, 83, of Priddy died April 18, 2006 at his home in Priddy. Funeral services will be held April 21 at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Priddy with Pastor Don Kingman officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Priddy.
He was born Oct. 6, 1922 in Priddy, the son of George Henry Tiemann and Minnie Drueckhammer.
He was married to Lois Carr on June 6, 1942, she preceded him in death in 1997 and he was married to Valenda Beacham on Feb. 12, 2006.
Mr. Tiemann lived in Priddy all of his life. He was a farmer and rancher and a Lutheran. He served in the Army Air Corps.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Freida Hohertz, Eleanor Hein and Edna Teinert.
Survivors include his wife of Priddy; two sons, Robert (Speedy) Tiemann and Roy (Shacky) and wife Debbie Tiemann, all of Goldthwaite; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Tiemann of Priddy; grandchildren and their spouses, Rhonda and Dean Cagle and Robin and Nick Partin, all of Priddy, Tiffany and Blaine Matthews of Bryan, Brian Tiemann of San Angelo and Traci Tiemann of College Station; four great-grandchildren; three sisters-in- law, Jo Carr of Burleson, Kellon Carr of Harlingen and Mary Carr of Conroe; two brothers in law, Alton (Buddy) Hiller and Ralph Hiller; a stepson, Stephen Alan Beachman of Houston and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
