Mr. Herring
Clint Herring Jr., 68, died April 5, 2004 in Hamilton. Funeral services were held April 9 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Mr. Herring was born April 19, 1935 in Erath County, the son of Clint Herring Sr. and Ruby Stella Jaggers Herring.
The family moved to Hamilton where he graduated from Hamilton High School in 1954. He continued his education at Tarleton State College at Stephenville from 1954–1956 and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1958 with a B.S. degree in Poultry Science. He received training at Salsbury Labo-ratories for Poultry Disease Control and attended Hy-Lay school of Marketing, Disease Control and Poultry Management.
Mr. Herring held positions of salesman, and was sale supervisor of the largest poultry operation in the State of Texas on Poultry Control and management. He served as a lieutenant in the Army and served six years in the Army Reserve. He worked for Hy-Lay Hatcheries most of his career of over 40 years. He was devoted to his career and brought much laughter to all. His customers were his best friends.
On Nov. 7, 1959 he was united in marriage to Emily Sefcik of Caldwell. He was later united in marriage to Dixie Kay Gerald on March 22, 1986.
Survivors include his wife of Hamilton; two daughters, Diane Marie Welch and her husband Scott of Bryan and Pamela Kay Buck and her husband Phil of Alvin; two step-sons, Russell Scott of McGregor and G.W. Scott of Nacogdoches; five grandchildren, Jarrod Scott Welch, Matthew John Welch, Madison Diane Welch, Kendall Stacie Buck and Cortlyn Kay Buck and four step-grandchildren, Miller Scott, Katy Scott, Rachel Scott and Jordan Scott.

Tina Louise Moore, 38, died at Hamilton April 5, 2004. Funeral services were held April 10 at the Evant Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Shaver officiating. Burial was in Langford Cemetery at Evant.
Mrs. Moore was born August 31, 1965 at Indianapolis, Ind.
Survivors include her parents, Donald Russell and Martha Francis Daniels Russell; four children, David Moore Jr., Patrick Moore, Kristle Ann Moore and Erica Dawn Moore all of Evant; four brothers, Terry Hillard of Boston, Mass., Steven Hillard of Killeen, Sam Hillard of Georgetown and Robert Hillard of Harker Heights.
Pallbearers were Terry Hillard, Steven Hillard, Samuel Hillard, Davie Moore, Pat Moore and Gordie Smale.

Mrs. Little
Ruth Risinger Little, 90, of Gatesville, died April 11, 2004. Funeral services will be held April 14 at the First United Methodist Church of Gatesville with Rev. Johnny Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Restland Cemetery in Gatesville.
Mrs. Risinger was born Jan. 11, 1914, the youngest of seven children of Edward M. and Lydia Voss Risinger. She grew up in the Shive community and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1931.
She attended Tarleton College where she met and married Ollie L. Little. They were married for 56 years. She completed her education at Daniel Baker Teachers College. She taught in Shive and then she and Mr. Little were the two teachers for all grades at the school in Ater Community for several years until moving to Gatesville in 1940.
She was a Christian woman, an astute businesswoman, a gifted public speaker, storyteller and pianist and a tireless worker with children, youth and the Foster Sunday School class at the First United Methodist Church.
Her children, her sons-in-law and her grandchildren were blessed with her abundant love, her keen intellect, her quick wit and her expectation that they always do their very best.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two daughters, Lois Jean Little and Linda Ruth Little Brown.
Survivors include her daughter, Janet Ann Little Horton of Houston; two sons-in-law, Bobby Jack Horton and Robert James Brown; five grandchildren, Robert James Brown, Jr., Courtney Ruth Brown Clifford, Meredith Louise Brown Rainer, Lynda Megan Marie Horton and Robert Jackson Horton as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert Lane Weatherly, 78, of Lago Vista, died May 12, 2004. Funeral services were held May 14 at Rolling Hills Community Church in Lago Vista, with Rev. Gary Olsen officiating. Burial was May 15 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Victoria.
He was born on March 26, 1926 in Yoakum, the son of Justin Eugene and Anna Lee Weatherly.
Mr. Weatherly proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Weatherly was raised in Victoria and was a member of the Rolling Hills Community Church, the Lago Vista Men’s Golf Association and an alumni of Texas A&M University. He retired from Gulf Oil after more than 37 years of service.
Mr. Weatherly was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Justin Eugene Weatherly, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Weatherly of Lago Vista; daughters, Carol Ann Lilly of Georgetown, Susan Lee Hemphill and husband Danny of Hamilton, Wanda Lou Montelongo and husband Ismael of Houston; grandchildren, Matthew Lane Hemphill and wife Laurie, Anna Lee Hemphill, Samuel Lenon Hemphill, Megan Lee Montelongo, Michael Lane Montelongo and Claire Louise Lilly.

Mr. Kunkel
Willard L. Kunkel, 71, died May 4, 2004 at his home. Funeral services were held May 7 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fort Worth. Burial was at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Mr. Kunkel was born July 31, 1932 in Hamilton County, the son of Alfred and Alice Kunkel. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Central Freight Lines for 36 years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Glenn Kunkel; two brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Norma Kunkel; a son, Ronnie Kunkel; a daughter, Karen Vaughan and husband Keith; a brother, Otis Kunkel; sisters, Bertha Belle Boelter and Lynell Martin and husband Johnny; grandchildren, Matt and April Vaughan; great-grandchildren, Dustin Vaughan and Manuel Acuna; an aunt, Frieda Meissner and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. McPherson
R.C. McPherson, 78, died on May 6, 2004. Funeral services were conducted May 10 at Pat A. Riley Funeral Home in Nederland. Graveside services were held May 11 at the Energy Cemetery in Energy.
Mr. McPherson was born in Energy, Comanche County on March 12, 1926.
He was a World War II veteran, having served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Gulf Oil Corporation in 1982, having worked there for almost 35 years.
He cherished the memories of many friends and the stories associated with working at what he called “the best oil company in the world.”
Mr. McPherson loved baseball and enjoyed coaching teams in the Optimist’s leagues, teenage leagues where he coached Pony and Colt as well as Connie Mack baseball. He took the Port Arthur Connie Mack team to San Antonio in 1965, winning the southern regional crown.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Rector and Annie McPherson and his sister, Minnie Rae Newton.
Survivors include his wife, Earline; his son, Ronald McPherson and wife Jamie; his daughter, Carol and husband Mike Cordell; twin daughters, Judy and Jane McPherson; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Marion McPherson; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three nephews and a niece.

Ms. Allen
Ora Lee Allen, 77, of Joshua, died May 16, 2004 at a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral services will be held May 20 at the Gatesville Funeral Chapel with burial at the Bethel Cemetery in Aleman.
She was born Aug. 7, 1926 in Hamilton County, the daughter of Henry and Naomi Brown Hoffman. She was raised in Hamilton County and graduated from Evant High School.
Ms. Allen was an associate at Foley’s Department Store in Fort Worth and managed Radio Shack stores for ten years in Fort Worth. She was a retired appraisal clerk for the Tarrant County Appraisal District and an avid country and western fan who enjoyed singing, dancing and traveling. Mrs. Allen was a member of the Methodist church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Elveta Hoherz.
Survivors include her two daughters, Teresa Duval and husband Jerry and Beck Mahan, all of Burleson; three sons, Steve Allen and wife Kathy Parks of Benbrook, Brian Keith Allen and Mike Allen and wife Mary of Burleson; two sisters, Janie Brants of Hico and Sharon Walters of Hamilton; eleven grandchildren, Jodi Allen, Chris Duval, Tracy Paskero, Andrea Duval, Jarrett Duval, Karen Rudd, Michael Allen, Matt Allen, Lauren Allen, Kirk Bearden and Colt Bearden; three great-grandchildren, Danae Paskero, Trenton Paskero and Daniel Allen.

George Kowacich, 83, of Odessa, died June 23, 2004. Graveside services were held June 26 at Sunset
Memorial Gardens with Rev. Clydel Chapman of Northside Baptist Church officiating.
Mr. Kowacich was born in Wheatland, Pa. Sept. 28, 1920.
He served in the U.S. Naval Service in World War II from Jan. 2, 1942 until he received an honorable discharge on Dec. 2, 1946 as a Seaman First Class.
He served on the U.S.S. Armadillo and the U.S.S. Gearing.
Mr. Kowacich lived in Odessa most of his life and was a retired welder.
He was preceded in death by his father, George F. Kowacich; his mother, Grace Hahn Kowacich; a brother, Milliard Kowacich of San Francisco, Calif., and a sister Roseanna Kowacich Miller of Niles, Ohio, also a grandson, Joshua Kowacich of Hamilton.

Mrs. Cosper
Nora Opal Cosper, 88, formerly of Killeen, died June 20. Funeral services were held June 24 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home with Willard Jack Dunn officiating. Burial was at Live Oak Cemetery in Youngsport.
She was born April 4, 1916 in Killeen, the daughter of Bur-ton and Victoria Shafer. She was married to Andrew Cosper in 1930. She worked for Dr. Burow at Burow Clinic and hospital for 22 years. She moved to Hamilton in 1987.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Raymond Shafer and Weldon Shafer.
Survivors include a son, H.C. Cosper and wife Patsy of Florence; a daughter, Shirley DeLoach and husband Gene of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Michele Cathey, Michael DeLoach and Mark DeLoach, all of Hamilton.
Pallbearers were Cecil Lynn Cosper, Sidney Cosper, Dan Cosper, Wayne Cosper, Harold Cosper and Kenneth Cosper, all nephews of Mrs. Cosper.

Zena Maud Whistler Edwards Loden Edwards, 95, died June 26, 2004. Funeral services will be held June 29 in the Evant Funeral Chapel with Rev. Keith Felton officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery near Evant.
She was born June 28, 1909, the daughter of Bertha Hutchison Whistler and John Ross Whistler in Del Rio.
Mrs. Whistler was married to Buster Earl Edwards on May 28, 1927. They had six children during their 23 year union: Robert Earl, Annalouise, McNeill Whistler, Bertha Sue, Thelma Dee, and James Owen Edwards. Their marriage ended in divorce.
On Nov. 13, 1952, she married Jimmie Morris Loden. They reared their family on a farm in Coryell County.
Following a divorce from Jim Loden, she was remarried to Buster Edwards on April 7, 1978, and lived in Valentine until he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Edwards lived a long and remarkable life. She considered her greatest accomplishment in life rearing seven children, and she managed to make each one feel as special as an only child. Her family was always foremost in her love and life.
She was an accomplished musician, playing the piano and singing throughout her life. She also wrote music, poetry, and stories. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church and an active member of her community. She loved life and all the people she encountered along the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her children, McNeill, Thelma; her husbands, Jim Loden and Buster Edwards; her brothers Johnnie and Clyde; a grandson Jason Clark and a nephew Jack Whistler.
Survivors include her children Bob and Carolyn Edwards, Anna Bell, Jim and Kate Edwards, Bert Clark, John and Reta Loden; her grandchildren, Meg and Clyde Bailey, Sue and Vernon Medlock, John O. and Dolores Bell, Shayla Clark, Jeff, Walter and Amber Edwards, Jennifer and Jonathan Greenfield, Sam and Lori McGee, Michelle and Paul Viers, Charles and Denise Gray and Dayrl Easterling and his wife Amanda Loden Easterling; 13 grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews and 19 great-nieces and nephews; a devoted daughter-in-law, Kate Edwards.

CALDWELL — Memorial services for Mark Mansfield Herring, 38, of Caldwell are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the New Tabor Brethren Church in New Tabor.
The Rev. John Baletka will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Mr. Herring died Monday in the Smithville Regional Hospital in Smithville, Texas.
He was born in San Antonio and was a gymnastics coach at the Texas Gymnastics Academy in Bastrop.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Herring of Caldwell; his mother, Bette Herring of San Antonio; two sons, Marshal Herring and Wesley Herring, both of Caldwell; two daughters, Alexandra Herring and Jacqueline Herring, both of Caldwell; a brother and sister-in-law, Britton and Teri Herring of New York City; and a sister, Linda Wallace of Amarillo.

Services for Alvin Marshall, 68, of Bryan are set for 1 p.m. Friday at Castle Heights Baptist Church in Bryan.
The Rev. Tommie Ross of Castle Heights Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mumford Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at Daniel & Son Funeral Home in Bryan and from noon to the time of the services Friday at the church.
A wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Marshall died Saturday at his home.
He was born in Atlanta and was a longtime resident of Bryan. He was retired as a truck driver and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Castle Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Jean Marshall of Bryan; six sons and two daughters-in-law, William and Sonia F. Davenport of College Station, Adam and Nikki Davenport of Houston, Roger Nelson, Jonathan Nelson and Christopher Marshall, all of Bryan, and Kenneth Montgomery of Temple; a daughter, Rolanda Nelson of Bryan; 11 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Howard C. Rudolph

Memorial services for Howard C. Rudolph, 82, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Caldwell.
The Rev. Steve Stigler of the First United Methodist Church will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Mr. Rudolph died Wednesday at his home.
He was born in Crossville, Ill., and lived in College Station for a year. He was an adjuster for Kemper Insurance prior to his retirement. He moved to Caldwell in 1998, where he was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Carmi Masonic Lodge No. 272 A.F. & A.M., where he served as Worshipful Master in 1961. He also served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Rudolph of College Station; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Alvalaine Rudolph of Denver; and a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Douglas Baasen of Caldwell.

Ambrose ‘Bocho’ Saenz

Services for Ambrose “Bocho” Saenz, 92, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan.
Monsignor John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Saenz died Tuesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
He was born in New Braunfels and lived in Bryan for 32 years. He was the retired owner of A.C. Saenz Tamales and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post No. 4692.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ybarra Saenz.
Survivors include seven sons and five daughters-in-law, Ambrose Jr. and Camille Saenz of San Antonio, Antonio and Eudelia Matta of LaPorte, Texas, Adolph and Josephine Saenz of Houston, Arthur and Velia Saenz, Andrew and Zulema Saenz, Albert Saenz and Alfonso Saenz, all of Bryan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Alice and John Avila of Katy, Texas, and Adeline and Gustavo Moncivais of Omaha, Neb.; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
