Mary Beth “Sue” Chandler

BEAUMONT – Services for Mary Beth “Sue” Chandler, 72, of Beaumont were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in the Clay-bar Kelly-Watkins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Carrion officiating.
Burial followed in Trinity County at the Calvary Cemetery in Nogalas Prairie with the Rev. Mike Hunter officiating.
Visitation was held Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home, located at 1155 N. 11th Street in Beaumont.
Mrs. Chandler was born May 6, 1932 in Groveton, the daughter of the late W. Burl and Ola Mae (Faver) Daniel. She had resided in the Beaumont area for 43 years.
She was a devoted educator and the retired director of special education with the Sabine Pass Independent School District.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Keith Chandler of Beaumont and Dan and Cynthia Chandler of Lumberton; one brother, Harry Daniel of Dayton; and two granddaughters, Jenny Chandler and Kate Chandler of Lumberton.
Claybar Kelly-Watkins Funeral Home of Beaumont is directing the arrangements.

Nelton D. ‘Dee’ Chessher
October 11, 2004
TRINITY – Services for Nelton D. “Dee” Chessher, 65, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at the Trinity Tabernacle Assem-bly of God Church with the Rev. Roger Goins officiating.
Burial followed in Carlisle Cemetery.
Mr. Chessher died at his residence on Tuesday, Sept. 28.
Born May 25, 1939, in Carlisle, he faithfully served his nation in the U.S. Navy for 10 years. He later worked in offshore drilling and in retail sales.
Mr. Chessher was a member of the Trinity Tabernacle Assembly of God, where he started a Men’s Ministry and served as a Sunday School superintendent.
He was preceded in death by his father, Burton Oliver Chessher and an infant twin sister.
Survivors include his wife, Melba Chessher; two daughters, Patti Carillo and Sandra Boyer; his mother, Farrie Chessher; three step-sons and their spouses, Johnnie and Teresa Cleveland, Douglas and Mara Cleveland and Dennis and Tana Bond; five step-daughters and their spouses, LaNell and Tommy Smith, Alisha and Michael Willis, Brenda and Robert Lee, Debra and Jaila Singh and Toni and Joseph McDaniels; a special child, Daniel Allen; a brothers and sister-in-law, Davis and Sieglinde Chessher; two sisters and their spouses, Robbie and Oscar Hall and Doris and Cleon Ashworth; 27 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Waller-Thornton Funeral Home of Trinity directed the arrangements.

Cne’ Anderson Jones
October 11, 2004
WILLIS – Services for Cne’ Anderson Jones, 70, of Conroe were held at noon Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Addison-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Willis.
Burial followed in the Garden park Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones died Saturday, Oct. 2, in Conroe.
Born June 1, 1934, in Trinity, she was graduated magna cum laude from Sam Houston State University and worked as a teacher in both Trinity and Arkansas schools as well as with the Windham School District. She retired in 1998 as an officer with the Montgomery County Adult Probation service after 18 years of server.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Kell Jones Sr.; her parents, William Anderson and Marie Ingram; and a brother, William H. Anderson Jr.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa Roach and Laura and Jerry Elliott; three step-sons and their spouses, Larry and Kathy Jones, Kevin and Sherry Jones and Kell and Paulette Jones; two step-daughters and a spouse, Maura and John Windlinger and Bridget Weeden; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Addison-Smith Funeral Home of Willis directed the arrangements.

Uvenia Richards
October 11, 2004
ROCKDALE – Services for Trinity native Uvenia Richards, 73, of Rockdale were held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at the Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Bill Whaley of the Murray St. Church of Christ in Rockdale officiating.
Burial followed in the Thornton Cemetery near Trinity.
Mrs. Richards died Monday, Sept. 27, in the Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.
She was born May 14, 1931 in Trinity, the daughter of James Edward Thornton Sr. and Laval Uvenia (Gray) Thornton. She was married Aug. 5, 1951, in Victoria to Edd D. Richards Sr.
Mrs. Richards was employed as a waitress at Shipley Donuts and had resided in Rockdale since 1979. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband on April 11, 1994.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Edd D. and Ruth Richards Jr. of Houston; a step-daughter, Sandra Jo Bennett of Vir-ginia; a sister, Elva Money of Rockdale; one grandson and his spouse, Phillips Nathan and Ronnie Richards of Hawaii; and one great-grandson, Max Nathan Richards of Hawaii

John R. Bledsoe Jr.
October 4, 2004
TRINITY – John R. Bledsoe Jr., 71, of Trinity died Sept. 13, 2004.
He was born Jan. 14, 1933, in Arkadelphia, Ark., and was married to Maxine Johnson on Jan. 11, 1966. He served in the U.S. Ma-rine Corps during the Korean War.
Mr. Bledsoe recently returned to Trinity after a long illness in Indianapolis, Ind. Known as “Johnny” to his friends and family, he was known for his love of life.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years; a son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Kelli Bledsoe III; two step-daughters and their spouses, Becky and Terry Hargis and Tammy K. and Charles Jesse; a brother, Bill Bledsoe; four sisters, Lucy Reese, Flora Damon, Mary Lively and Martha Starks; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Johnson; grandchildren, John Austin and Naomi Faith Bledsoe; step-grandchildren, Angie Hargis, Tyler Hargis, Tanya and Ben Foster, Keith Jesse and Lucas Jesse; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Bobby Ray Dodson
October 4, 2004
TRINITY – Memorial services for Bobby Ray Dodson, 68, of Trinity were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, in the Waller-Thornton Funeral Home Chapel in Trinity.
Mr. Dodson died Sunday, Sept. 19, at his residence.
Born Sept. 12, 1936, in Bowie, he was the son of Henry Ivy Dodson and Mary Jane Slane Dodson. He served for four years in the U.S. Air Force and was employed as a purchasing agent for American Gasket & Packing Co.
Mr. Dodson loved outdoor life and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and entertaining his family.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Leila Colleen Dodson; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Darren Martin; a son and daughter-in-law, John Mark and Jerri Dodson; five sisters, Effie Shelnutt, Mary Whitfield, Naomi Haddock, Louise Doss and Melba McKinney; a brother, John Mark Dodson; his father and mother-in-law, Richard and Dorothy Mae Hoch; and three grandchildren, Josh Martin, Leslie Dodson and Mark Dodson.
Waller-Thornton Funeral Home of Trinity directed the arrangements.

Ruth Hartman Wight
October 4, 2004
CARTHAGE – Graveside services for Ruth Hartman Wight, 87, of Trinity were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, in Oddfel-lows Cemetery in Carthage.
Mrs. Wight died Thursday, Sept. 23, in the Livingston Convalescence Center in Livingston.
Born May 26, 1917, in Toledo, Ohio, she was graduated from high school in Toledo and attended the University of Toledo. She was a former resident of Lake Cherokee and of Carthage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Wight; a daughter, Barbara G. Wight; and her parents, Eugene B. and Alice R. Hartman.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Alice R. and Danny J. Mitchell of Trinity; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Patricia J. Wight of Baton Rouge, La.; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Roberta Hartman of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren, Frank Mitchell of Shillington, Penn., Dana Mitschke of Huntsville, Robert C. Wight Jr. of Baton Rouge, La., and Jason Wight of Knoxville, Tenn.; and eight great-grandchildren.
Her family has asked that memorial contribution be made to one of her favorite charities, including:

Eunice Anselem Derouen
Holmwood, LA.— Eunice Anselem Derouen, 95, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007 in a local care center.
Mrs. Derouen was born to George and Anna Anselem in Lawtell, LA on June 21, 1911, she was the oldest of nine children and help raise her siblings after her mother died. She moved to the Holmwood area in her late teens and attended Bell City School. She met and married Lionel Derouen on Dec. 2, 1933 and lived in Hayes, LA for a short period before moving to Holmwood, LA.
She had four sons, Rodney, Pat, Ralph and Phil. During WWII she often cooked for the German prisoners of War who assisted her husband with the harvesting of his rice crop. She was very active in her church and belonged to the St. John Vianney Alter Society and the Holmwood Rosary Group and worked diligently at many annual Church Bazaars. She was also a member of the Cattleman's Association Cowbells and the AMICUS Club.
Eunice also taught religion classes for numerous grades and was PTA President, room mother for many grades as well as a Cub Scout Leader. She went back to school and obtained her GED when she was in her fifties. She was part-time school bus driver when her husband was unable to do his route due to other obligations. She worked at Muller's Department Store in Lake Charles for over twenty-five years as a seamstress and did clothing alterations at her home well into her eighties. She loved all of her family very much, but she held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren which she tried to spoil each and every one of them at every opportunity. She baked birthday cakes for her children and grandchildren and many wedding cakes over the years, well into her eighties. Eunice cooked for family and relatives practically every Sunday as long as she was able to. Resthaven Nursing Home became her residence in 1999. She participated in many social activities including Senior Olympics and was selected Mardi Gras Queen one year. As long as she was able, she was very helpful in assisting many of the residents of Resthaven with their clothing alterations.
Survivors include her children, Rodney and wife, Alice Derouen of Woodville, Pat and wife, Patsy Derouen of Holmwood, LA, Ralph and wife, Wanda Derouen of Lake Charles, LA, Phil and wife, Nancy Derouen of Carlyss, LA; grandchildren, Jody Derouen, Tim Derouen, Suzanne Chapman, Laura Fruge, Rodney Derouen, Jr., Michael Derouen, Scott Derouen, Deborah Henry, Stacy Canter, Keith Derouen, Brady Derouen, Melissa Derouen and Katie Derouen; 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild; siblings, Gladys Smith of Woodville, Edna Anselem of Woodville, Archie and wife, Gladys Anselem of Holmwood, LA and Joyce Miller of Moss Bluff, LA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Anna Anselem; husband, Lionel Derouen; granddaughter, Jennifer Derouen; great-granddaughter, Alexandra Canter; brothers, L. G. Anselem and Ray Anselem; sisters, Barbra Foster and Lucille Derouen.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bell City, LA. Rev. Albert Borel officiated. Burial followed in the Derouen-Lorraine Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
Pallbearers were Jody Derouen, Tim Derouen, Rodney Derouen, Jr., Michael Derouen, Keith Derouen, Brady Derouen, Scott Derouen and Randy Canter.

Myrtle Inez Rhodes Vowel
Myrtle Inez Rhodes Vowel, born April 16, 1909 in Oklahoma, died January 29, 2007 at 1:39 a.m. in Colmesneil, Texas. She was the daughter of Felix Leroy and Ophelia Williams Rhodes and was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, Sam Cecil Vowel. She is survived by her daughter Cecile Vowel Krause of Colmesneil, Texas; grandson Timothy Cecil Krause and wife Gail of Lufkin, Texas; granddaughter Lynn Krause and husband Mike Stacy of Colmesneil, Texas; granddaughter Jean Krause and husband Niles Ritter of Long Beach, California; granddaughter Julie Krause and husband Robbin Wallace of Austin, Texas; granddaughter Paula Krause and husband William Lear of Austin, Texas; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Colmesneil. In her younger days, she tailored Aggie Corp dress uniforms and continued to sew and fashion garments for the rest of her life. She was an expert quilter and all of her family members have received multiple quilts as gifts. She was an ardent gardener and enjoyed all of nature. She will be greatly missed by all of her loving family.
Visitation was held Tuesday, January 30th from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, January 31st at 11 a.m. at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank, Texas.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

Gladys Mae Owens
Gladys Mae Owens, 85, of San Antonio, passed away Friday, January 26, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 29th atĘ 2 p.m. at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Village Mills Cemetery. Officiating was Pastor Richard Perry.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 29th from 11 a.m until service time.
Gladys was born September 2, 1921 to George & Mary Kinard Wright in Livingston, Texas and was a lifetime resident of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Frances Marie Moore; three grandchildren & one great grandchild. She is survived by six sons; Arthur Ray Moore of Alvin, Jerry Wayne Moore of Longview, Robert Dale Moore of Houston, Tommy Lee Moore of Midland, Jim Owens, Jr. of Damon, Texas, Jimmy Dale Owens, of Ft. Worth; four daughters, Shirley Foretich of Conroe, Reba MacGillis of San Antonio, Nelda Jane Manning of Jefferson, Iowa, Barbara Ann Hensley of Montgomery; brothers, Clyde Wright of Batson & John Wright of Votaw; twenty grandchildren & twenty-five great grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

Edna Lee Taylor
Edna Lee Taylor, 84, of Warren, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2007 at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Edna was a former resident of Pasadena, Texas before moving to Warren. She was a retired nurse. She enjoyed mentoring young nurses and enjoyed communicating to others about her profession. Nursing was truly a way of life for her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Taylor, in 2005.
She is survived by step-daughters, Connie Terry of Plano, Doretta Friday of Pasadena & Darlene Erwin of Yuma, Arizona; sister-in-law and her husband, Mary Frances & Woody Wilkens of Houston; six grandchildren & two great grandchildren.
Cremation services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

John Warren Terrell, Jr.
John Warren Terrell, Jr., 82, of Warren went to be with his Lord on January 27, 2007.
Born September 4, 1924 in Longleaf, LA to the late John W. and Thelma Vinson Terrell, Sr., he lived in Warren for many years. He was a retired watchmaker for Gem Jewelry Store and a World War II Navy Veteran. He was a member of the V.F.W., Village Mills Ham Radio Operator WA5KJZ, a member and honorary Deacon at First Baptist Church in Warren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Helen Terrell of Warren; sons and daughters-in-law, John R. Terrell of Thailand, Frank Van and Angie Terrell of Tennessee and Tommy Keith and Amanda Terrell of Tennessee; daughters and son-in-law, Candace and Eddie Lynn of Warren, Julia A. Terrell of Houston and Priscilla Ann Stolitza of Houston; grandchildren, Kristi, Ziegelmair, Jesica, Adrianne, John Michael, Tracey, Brian, Mark, Mathew, Carrie, Keith, Brittany, Malcolm, Meagan, and J.W.; and eighteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Warren with Brother Ken Cauthen and Brother Mark Smith officiating. Burial followed at Allison Cemetery in Warren. Visitation was held Monday evening at the Riley Funeral Home in Woodville.
Serving as pallbearers were Kieth Terrell, Roy Hicks, Buck Armes, Jay Telger, June Henderson and Henry Henderson.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Harold Hatton, Luther Moye and Gene Furry.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church

David P. Mann, Jr.
David P. Mann, Jr., 79, of Woodville, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. Visitation was held Tuesday, January 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 31st at 10 a.m. at the Woodville United Methodist Church with burial in Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville. Officiating will be Dr. Raymond A. Parker, Keith Bellamy, and Reverend Tommy Williams. Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Smith, Harold E. “Trey” Allison, III, Dr. Huntley Kenesson, Jacques L. Blanchette, David W. Mann and Dr. Gordon McCluskey. Honorary pallbearers are Marvin R. Reaves, Thomas R. McGuire and Jiggs Kenesson.
