Falba Counts Bruce
July 26, 2004
TRINITY – Services for Falba Counts Bruce, 61, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2004, in the Waller-Thornton Funeral Chapel in Trinity.
Burial followed in the Center Hill Cemetery in Oakhurst.
Mrs. Bruce died Thursday, July 15, 2004, in Crockett.
She was born Jan. 27, 1943, in Point Blank, the youngest of 10 children born to John and Minnie Savage Walker. The family moved to the Trinity area in the 1950s.
Following the death of her father, the family remained in the area under the guidance of their mother.
She was married Durwood Bruce on May 8, 1970 and had been a member of the Calvary Baptist Church since June 1, 1986. Mrs. Bruce was employed as a sales clerk at the Baskins Department Store and as a seamstress for the Groveton Sewing Room.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Toby, Marvin, Clifton and Willie Durdin; and a sister, Sarah Walker, who died as an infant.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years; and son and his spouse, Mikel Todd and Thersa Bruce; a sister, Dorothy Smith; three brothers and their spouses, Emery and Ruby Walker, J.D. and Viola Walker and Theodore Walker; a brother-in-law and his spouse, J.W. and Hilda Bruce; a granddaughter, Savannah Bruce; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Waller-Thornton Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Vivian Carroll Butler
July 26, 2004
TRINITY – Services for Vivian Carroll Butler, 76, of Trinity were held at 11 a.m. at the Burning Hope Baptist Church on Friday, July 16, 2004, with the Rev. Jim Parrish officiating.
Burial followed in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Trinity.
Mrs. Butler died Tuesday, July 13, in Houston as the result of complications during surgery.
She was born March 6, 1928, in Howison, Miss. and, together with her husband, Eber L. Butler, had been a resident of Sportsman’s Oaks Subdivision in Trinity for 28 years.
She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Marilyn J. Ladnier.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years; a son and his spouse, Ronnie and Judy Butler of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters and their spouses, Wanda and Bill Skinner and Carol Darlyn and Walter Crawford, all of Ennis, MT.; six brothers and sisters, H.P. Carroll of Baltimore, Md., Evelyn Bowen of Gulfport, Miss., Zella Wayne Renyer of Liberty, Ind., Verda Mae Shaw of Gulfport, Miss., James Carroll of Groesbeck and A.L. Carroll of Gulfport, Miss; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Waller-Thornton Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Debbie Jean Goodin
July 26, 2004
TRINITY – Services for Debbie Jean Goodin, 42, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2004, in the Trinity Fellowship Church in Trinity with the Rev. Billy Jackson and the Rev. D.R. McNaughton officiating.
Burial followed in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Trinity.
She died suddenly on Thursday, July 15, in Magnolia.
She was born Dec. 18, 1961, in Wichita Falls and was a student in the Groveton Independent School District. After completing her General Education Degree (GED), she went to work at the University of Texas Medical Branch in medical records. She enjoyed stay-ing at home and surfing the Internet during her free time.
Survivors include her son, Stephen Allen Wars of Lufkin; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Wars and her fiancé, Edward Lowrey III of Trinity; her parents, Jim and Jean Goodin of Groveton; two brothers and their spouses, Billy and Rhonda Goodin of Trinity and Donny and Bessie Goodin of Lufkin; a maternal grandmother, Ruby Davis of Electra; a grandson, Cameron Wars; and a number of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and other relatives.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Lupus Foundation of American, 1-800-558-0121.
Waller-Thornton Funeral Home of Trinity directed the arrangements.

Velta Lee Antley Hill
July 26, 2004
TRINITY – Services for Velta Lee Antley Hill, 73, of Trinity were held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2004, in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel of the Chimes officiated by the Rev. Neil Davis of Bassville, Miss., a nephews of Mrs. Hill. Narrator was Gayla Johnson of Trinity.
Burial followed in the Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton.
Mrs. Hill died Wednesday, July 14, at her Trinity residence.
She was born Oct. 30, 1930, in the Possum Walk community of Trinity County. She was a homemaker and mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Reedious Hill; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Rene Hill.
Survivors include five sons and their spouses, Lyndell Steve Hill Sr. of Trinity, Melvin and Debbie Hill of Spring, Garry W. Hill of Groveton, Glenn R. and Deborah Hill of Groveton and Jack Hill of Groveton; a daughter and her spouse, Ester (Candy) and Jerry Tullos of Trinity; three brothers, Curtis Antley, T.J. Antley of Trinity and Nolan Antley of Dayton; 14 grandchildren, Lyndell Steve Hill Jr., Timothy Hill, Samantha, Melissa, Melvin, Brad, Jason, Shane, Rachael, Nathan, Sydney Nichole, Johnathan, Kimberly and Michael; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Steve Hill Jr., Timothy W. Hill, David Shane Hill, Nathan Hill, Brad Hill, Melvin Eugene Hill, Johnathan C. Tullos and Michael Jerome Tullos.
Trinity Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Martha Weaver Miller
July 26, 2004
TRINITY – Graveside services for Martha Weaver Miller, 60, were held Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston officiated by Pastor Mark Gray of the Trinity Pines Baptist Church.
Mrs. Miller died June 29 following a long illness at her new residence in the Lakewood At Livingston subdivision near Trinity.
She was born March 23, 1944, in Fort Worth and resided for most of her life in Houston. She was a longtime employee of American Alloy Steel, a 1962 graduate of Bellaire High School, attended the University of Texas and volunteers for several years at the Houston International Seamen Center. She enjoyed baking cakes and giving them to family and friends as well as spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bell Atkinson Weaver and Millard Weaver, as well as by a special cousin, Dr. Kate Bell of Trinity and Houston.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Garret Williams of Austin; a sister and brother-in-law, Tory and Bob Free of Nacogdoches; three grandchildren; and a niece, a nephew and several cousins.
Trinity Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Sam B. Tullos
July 26, 2004
TRINITY – Services for Sam B. Tullos, 79, of Glendale were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2004, in the First United Methodist Church of Trinity.
Burial followed in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Trinity.
Mr. Tullos died Tuesday, July 20, at his Glendale residence.
He was born Dec. 15, 1924, in the Weldon community of Houston County and was the owner of Trinity Funeral Home.
Mr. Tullos was a member of the Joe Werner Masonic Lodge No. 553 of Trinity, the Order of the Eastern Star No. 176 of Trinity and the First United Methodist Church of Trinity.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth L. Tullos of Trinity; two sons and their spouses, Jerry and Candy Tullos and Stanley and Jody Tullos; a daughter and her spouse, Bridgett and Buddy Martin; four grandchildren and their spouses, Kimberly and Jon Wheeless, Michael and Stacye Tullos, Christopher and Leah Tullos and Johnathan Tullos; one great-granddaughter, Brandi Jo Wheeless; and one great-grandson, Ethan Tullos.
Trinity Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Raymond Lee Herndon
July 18, 2004
TRINITY – Services for Raymond Lee Herndon, 68, of Houston were held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2004, in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel of the Chimes.
Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lovelady.
Mr. Herndon died Friday, July 2, at his Houston residence.
He was born Oct. 4, 1935, in Texas and was employed as a boilermaker for Weyatt Industries.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tommy L. Herndon; and one brother, Charles Edward Herndon.
Survivors include a daughter, Tammy Sewall of Houston; a son, Darrell Herndon of Houston, a brother, James Ralph Herndon; and three grandchildren, Larry W. McCain, Danielle M. Sewall and Darrell Herndon Jr.

Martha Weaver Miller
July 18, 2004
TRINITY – Memorial services for Martha Elizabeth Weaver Miller, 60, of Trinity were tentatively planned in Houston.
Mrs. Miller died June 29, 2004, at her new home near Trinity following a long illness.
She was born March 23, 1944, in Fort Worth and was a long time resident of Houston. She also briefly resided in Nacogdoches.
Mrs. Miller was a career employee of American Alloy Steel Co. of Houston until ill health forced her retirement. She was a 1962 graduate of Bellaire High School in Bellaire and volunteered for a number of years at the Houston International Seamen Center.
Besides spending time with her grandchildren, her greatest joy was baking cakes and giving them to her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bess Atkinson Weaver; her father, Millard Weaver; and a very special cousin, Dr. Kate Bell of Trinity and Houston
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Garrett Williams of Austin; a sister and brother-in-law, Tory and Bob Free of Nacogdoches; three grandchildren, Tyler, Elizabeth and Jesse Williams; a niece and her spouse, Rebecca and Isreal Cortez of Katy; a nephew, Greg Free of Nacogdoches; a number of cousins, Mickey and Leslie Adkins of Trinity, Ginger and George Calk of Friendswood, Anna and Clayton Hester of Groveton, Dona and Buddy Smith of Groveton, John Atkinson of Houston, Justin Adkins of Huntsville, Jodi and Clint Adkins of Trinity, Joetta and Clayte Adkins of Edna and Katie and Ford Adkins of Onalaska.
Trinity Funeral Home directed the local arrangements.

Glenda Lynette Mitchell
July 18, 2004
TRINITY – Services for Glenda Lynette Mitchell, 65, of Carlisle were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2004, in the Carlisle Community Chapel with Bro. D.R. McNaughton officiating.
Burial followed in the Carlisle Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell died Monday, June 28, in Lufkin Memorial Hospital in Lufkin.
She was born Jan. 18, 1939, in Flow and was employed as a licensed vocational nurse by the Green Acres Nursing Facility in Huntsville.
Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by three brothers, Duell Rich, William David “JR” Rich and Joe Edd Rich; and three sisters, Eunice Hallmark, Marie McManners and Ima Skains.
Survivors include two sons and their spouses, Kenneth Glen and Louann Peterson and Ronnie Leon and Karen Peterson; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Nancy and Ken Milstead and Nona Carver; three grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob and Michelle; and a dear friend, Bill Barrett.
Pallbearers included David Rich, Randy Lovell, Johnny Bob Wolfe, Glenn Wolfe, Dwight Wolfe and Gene Greer. Honorary pallbearer was Kenneth Barnett.
