Arthur Lee Casey, Jr. age 68, born October 15, 1934 in Santa Ana, California, passed away Friday, February 7, 2003.
Arthur was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and served in the United States Army & Navy, retiring after 22 years of service.
He was employed by Bechtel Power Corporation for over 15 years working in various Nuclear Power Plants as a Quality Control Engineer.
He is the proud father of daughter; Jonilou Norean Casey and son, Ronny Franklin Casey, both whom have preceded him in death.
His cherished memory will live on through his surviving wife of 46 dedicated years, Bernice Casey; daughter, Lisa Casey; grandson, Andrew Lee Casey of San Antonio, TX; brother, Don Casey and wife Lodean of California, Elmer Casey of Washington; sisters, Marion Pearson of Alabama and Gertrude Norris of Houston, TX; brother and sister in-laws, Cecil B. and Mary Nell Jordan of Floresville, TX; Edward and Marjorie Harwell of San Antonio, TX; countless dear friends and extended family members will never forget how his cheerful smile, loving spirit, and outlook on life has forever changed us all.
Lee was husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend that selflessly taught each of us about the magnitude of physical and emotional strength, unwavering faith, unconditional love, and the importance of family.

Jean Whitney, age 96, previously of Kansas City, passed away on Friday, February 07, 2003 in San Antonio.
She was married
May 1, 1933 in Minneapolis, MN, and lived in Kansas City for 60 years.
She worked for Kline’s Department store for 30 years.
She spent the last few years at Regent Care, and the family would like to extend their special thanks to the staff for her care.
Special thanks also goes to Denny and Marla Lee for all their help in their care for Mrs. Whitney.
Her husband, Frank Whitney, preceded her in death.

Betty Turner, age 63, born in Honey Grove, died on Thursday, February 6, 2003 in San Antonio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mathilda Ryser and Rufus Allen Sr. and her daughter, Barbara L. Turner.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Turner; children, Les Turner and wife, Laura, and Lyle Turner and wife Mandi; and grandchild, Brooke Turner.

Mr. George Vernon Leslie
George Vernon Leslie of San Antonio, TX, age 73, died Friday, February 7, 2003.
He was a registered professional engineer, a member of A. P. I. and worked in the oil business in Texas since his graduation from the University of Texas with a degree in Petroleum Engineering.
He was a veteran serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict in the Counter -Intelligence Corps.
He was a consultant for Bagnall and Barber Petroleum Consultants and then worked for 28 years for Del Ray Oil Company and then started his own consulting firm in San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Wayne Leslie in 1973.
George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lequeta Leslie of San Antonio, TX; daughters, Linda Ainsworth and husband Mark of Luling, TX, Debbie Keating and husband Peter of College Station, TX; grandchildren, Jenny, Joseph and Lee Downing Ainsworth, Andrew, Paige and Mary Beth Keating.
The pallbearers will be: Mark Ainsworth, Joseph Ainsworth, Peter B. Keating Lane Birdwell, Steve Wagner and Manuel Montemayor.
Edward Joseph Lodell

Colonel Edward J. Lodell, USAF (Ret.) age 83, of Cibolo, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2003.
He was born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin on March 18, 1919.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Julia Lodl; brother, Benjamin Lodl; and son, Drew Lodell.
He is survived by his wife, Angelina Lodell; daughter, Linda Perretta; grandson, David Perretta; granddaughters, Leeann and Carin Perretta, all of Medford, NJ; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Lodl of Milwaukee, WI, Ruth Taresco and husband Joseph of NC, Olivia Wachocki and husband Walter of MI; numerous nieces and nephews.
Col. Lodell was inducted into the military service in August 1941, commissioned in March 1944.
He served as company commander and executive officer with the Army Air Corps in various United States and European locations during World War II.
He served 32 years in the USAF, and retired on April 1, 1974 from Brooks AFB as a Colonel.
His decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Air Force Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Presidential Unit Citation.
He taught Business Administration from 1974 to 1994 at St. Mary’s University.

Spurgeon Hart Neel, Jr.

Major General Spurgeon H. Neel, Jr. (US Army Ret.), age 83, of San Antonio, TX passed away on June 6, 2003, after a long illness.
General Neel was born September 24, 1919 in Memphis, Tennessee.
He completed his pre-medical studies at Memphis State University and graduated from The University of Tennessee School of Medicine in 1942.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and served as an Army medical officer until 1977. He received a MPH from Harvard University in 1958 and a MSBA from George Washington University in 1965.
General Neel devoted his career to the advancement of Military Aviation Medicine. Known as the "Father of Army Aviation Medicine", he was instrumental in the development of a system for rapid evacuation of the wounded using helicopters that now extends to the civilian community.
He served combat tours during World War II, Korea and twice in Vietnam, paving the way for the “Dustoff” Program for medical evacuation.
General Neel was one of the most highly decorated Army medical officers.
He was inducted into the Army Aviation Hall of Fame in 1976. General Neel moved to San Antonio in 1973 to become the first Commanding General of the Health Services Command.
After retiring in 1977, he became Professor in Occupational and Aerospace Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center.
He was Medical Director of USAA and served on the Board of Directors at Eisenhower National Bank for 10 years.
General Neel devoted his recent years to all aspects of the Army Medical Department Museum.
He resided at the Army Residence Community and attended St. David’s Episcopal Church. He was a modest man, known for his personal resolve and can-do attitude with a wonderful dry sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Spurgeon Hart Neel and Leola Pearl Neel. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Alice T. Neel; His son, Spurgeon H. Neel, III, Atlanta, GA; daughter, Dr. Leah Neel Zartarian and husband Dr. Gary Zartarian, Falmouth, MA; his niece, Diane D. Neel; and her friend, Sheila Smith, Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Patrick Neel, Orlando, FL, Gregory and Geoffrey Zartarian, Falmouth, MA.
