Jimmy Russell Turner
Jimmy Russell Turner was born in Kaufman County on April 14, 1946, to Tomie and Ethel Lightfoot Turner. Jimmy passed away in Kaufman on Aug. 27, 2002.
Jimmy was raised in Kaufman and attended Kaufman Schools. He later moved to the Dallas area where he worked for Texas Instruments and Raytheon for 34 years. Jimmy was a member of the Ola Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ashley Dawn Turner.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Arca of Grapevine, Kimberly Kelly of Tyler, and Courtney Turner of Frisco; brothers, Tom W. Turner of San Antonio, Jack Turner of Kaufman, Johnie Turner of Kansas City, Joe Turner of Wills Point, and David Turner of Edgewood; sisters, Lydia Gardner of Kaufman, Janis Lindsey of Kaufman, Alice Perdue of Crandall, and Frankie Prater of Irving; five grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at 4 p.m. at the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Newby officiating. Interment followed in Kaufman cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman.

Dr. Harold Hamilton Simons
Dr. Harold Hamilton Simons was born in Boyce, La., on Oct. 27, 1916, to Robert and Ruby Hamilton Simons. He passed away on June 22, 2002, in V A Hospital in Dallas. Harold was raised in Boyce, La., and later moved to San Antonio. He married Audrey Brown in Cotulla, Texas, on Nov. 3, 1940.
Harold joined the U S Army during World War II and moved back to San Antonio where he graduated from Chiropractic School. Harold first practiced in Cleburne, and then in 1950 he moved to Linden and then moved his practice to Kaufman in 1964. Harold was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the First Baptist Church. His wife, Audrey Simons, preceded him in death in March 1999.
He is survived by his son, Bobby Simons and his wife Janette of Kaufman; daughters, Margie Humphrey and her husband Ross of Montgomery, Ala., and Judy Gunn of Baytown; grandchildren, Wendy Stewart and her husband J. Allison Gunn, and Rodney Simons and his wife Jaime.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Hanner Funeral Home Chapel in Atlanta, Texas, with interment in Pine Crest cemetery in Atlanta. Local funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman. .

Tom E. Robinson
Tom E. Robinson was born in Canton on Nov. 29, 1938, to Walter and Lillie Thomas. Tom passed away in Kaufman on June 19, 2002.
He was raised in Mesquite and lived in Pleasant Grove for 22 years. Tom moved to Combine in 1989 and was a member of the Cottage Heights Baptist Church in Kaufman. In 1960 Tom married Betty Martin in Mesquite.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Robinson of Combine; son, Jerry Robinson of Cedar Creek; sisters, Betty Stout of Terrell, and Carol Coffman of Tioga; grandchildren, Jana Robinson Adams and Jerrett Robinson and great-grandchild Kayla Robinson.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 21, 2002, at the Cottage Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Peavy officiating. Interment followed in Roselawn Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman. .

Grady Eugene Whitaker
Grady Eugene Whitaker was born in Detroit, Texas, on Dec. 17, 1921, to Dow and Cora Ison Whitaker. Grady passed away in Tyler on June 18, 2002.
He was raised in East Texas and joined the U S Army during World War II. Grady worked for Bell Helicopter for 31 years and lived in Hurst for 25 years. Grady was an Assembly of God minister and had pastored five different churches. He moved to Fruitvale in 1998. On May 30, 1942, Grady married Lois Roberts in Kaufman.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Whitaker of Fruitvale; son, Roger Dale Whitaker and his wife Roshara of Mesquite; daughter, Doris Marie Crawford and her husband Bob of Cresson, Texas; brother, Hubert Whitaker of Paris, Texas; sisters, Ruby Moore of Duncan, Okla., Windola Roberts of Fort Worth, and Doma Sprinkle of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Sonia Sofo, Tony Hodges and Craig Hodges; great-grandchildren, Angela, Thomas Joseph and Kayley.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002, at the Parker-Ashworth Chapel with interment in Morrow Chapel cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman.

A.T. Coker was born in Hedrick, Okla., on Aug. 18, 1926, to Argus and Myrtle Foster Coker. A.T. passed away at his home in Kaufman on Jan. 6, 2003.
A.T. was raised in the Rand Community and attended schools in Rand and Becker. He entered the U S Navy during World War II and was discharged in 1946. A.T. moved to Kaufman after the war and retired from Otis Engineering. He was a member of the Church of Christ. On May 4, 1946, he married Mary Evelyn Tarpley in Kaufman.
A. T. is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn Coker of Kaufman; sons, Robert Coker of Bullard, Thomas Coker of Princeton, James Coker of Denton and Mark Coker and his wife Laurie of Winston Salem, N.C.; daughter, Patricia Shaw and her husband W.T. of Kaufman; grandchildren, Denise Farmer, Stacey Adkins, Kelli Boyd, Katrina Coker, Todd Shaw, Jonathan Shaw, Peter Coker and Ian Coker; five great grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dan Baum officiating. Interment followed in Lone Oak cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman. .

Margaret French was born May 17, 1918, in Ola, Texas, to William Henry and Arlevia McKinney Milliken. She was a lifelong resident of Kaufman and Henderson Counties. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Wesley French; sisters, Zella, Gladys, Dorothy and Opal; and brothers, Johnny, Benton, Walter, Bill and Herbert.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Hayes and husband Barry of Lakeway, Sandra French Clark of Beaumont, and Mary Nell French of Trinidad; granddaughter, Margaret Keaton Clark of Austin; sister-in-law, Fay Milliken of Round Rock; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Words simply fail to describe this woman of beauty and grace. Margaret was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Trinidad and a person who lived an exemplary life. She was generous with all that she had, she rarely spoke a disparaging word about someone and never spoke a discouraging word to anyone. She never complained about her illness and was genuinely concerned about other people. She especially cared for young people without regard for economic, ethnic or social standing. Small children loved her and would always find an afternoon snack in her kitchen. She loved people unconditionally and never required anything in return, but her love was returned in full measure.
Margaret outlived her husband, her brothers and sisters, and brothers and sisters in-law, except one, as well as many dear friends. However, she never dwelled on the loss or the past, but on the living and the future. Her pride and joy was her grandchild Keaton, whose life she marked with joy and kindness. In addition to all the people she loved and the generations of school children she cheered enthusiastically, she loved the Longhorns, the Lakers and especially Kobe Bryant.
Visitation was held at the United Methodist Church in Trinidad, Texas, on Monday, Jan. 6. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at the church with burial at the Kaufman City cemetery at 1:30.
Pallbearers were Charles Lee Abee, Norman Lawler, Willie Lundy, Bennie King, Bill Hamm, Mondo Renteria, Roy Stanfield and Richard Taaffe. Honorary pallbearers Mike Airheart, Larry Don Estes, Bill Tart, R.L. (Son) McGee, Anthony Livingston and Chris Quinn.

Funeral services for Billy Mack Mundie, 57, of Pilot Point, Texas, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at David Clayton Funeral Home in Duncanville with Brother Dennis Pace officiating. Interment followed at Crandall cemetery under the direction of David Clayton Funeral Home.
Mr. Mundie was born March 20, 1945, at home in Crandall. He was the second son of Doc and Christine Mundie. He died Dec. 24, 2002. He was preceded in death by his father, Sterling (Doc) Mundie in 1986, and grandson, Billy Albert Mundie in 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughter, Patsy and her husband Darren; three grandchildren, Shonda, Ellen, and Stephanie all of Pilot Point; Mother, Christine Mundie of Hico; three brothers, Sterling of Waxahachie, Jerry of Mansfield, Steve of Hico; sister, Peggy Parks of Hico; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Mundie worked for the City of Duncanville for a number of years and then followed in the footsteps of his Daddy and went into construction work, where he was working when he suffered a stroke in 1999.

Thomas Rudolph Owen was born in Wills Point, Texas, on May 10, 1949, to Chester and Lottie Ellis Owen. Thomas passed away in a Dallas hospital on Dec. 30, 2002.
Thomas was raised in Wills Point and graduated from Kaufman Schools. He worked for Sprint Telephone Company for 33 years. Thomas was a member of Kaufman Church of Christ. In 1969 Thomas married Vera Smith in Ennis.
He is survived by his wife, Vera of Kaufman; son, Tommy Owen of Kaufman; brothers, Robert Owen of Littleton, Colo., and Hulen Owen of Wills Point; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Jan. 2, 2003, at the Kaufman Church of Christ with Mike Kellett officiating. Interment followed in Rock Hill cemetery in Wills Point.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman. .

Tee P. Pipes passed away in a Terrell nursing home Dec. 27, 2002. The daughter of the late Jesse Sewell Lawson and Martha J. Walker Lawson, she was born in Corsicana, Texas, on Dec. 24, 1916, and had been a resident of Terrell since 1940. She worked in the school cafeterias several years and was employed thirteen years as a checker for Brookshire’s in Terrell. Mrs. Pipes was a member of First Baptist Church Terrell. She was married to Lilbourn Jefferson Pipes in Terrell on Nov. 5, 1939.
Mrs. Pipes is survived by her husband, “L. J.” of Terrell; son, Kenneth Pipes of Terrell; daughters, Cynthia Ann McKinney and Charlotte Lynn Rand, both of Kaufman; brother, Grady Lawson of TerreIl; sister, Lavicia Fountain of Terrell; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; and other relatives and a host of friends.
Mrs. Pipes was preceded in death by her parents, three grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held in the Chapel of Goggans Funeral Home in Terrell at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, with Rev. Ernie McCoulskey and Rev. Todd Peavy officiating. Interment followed at Highland Memorial Gardens.

Funeral services for Russell E. Putt, of Kemp, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, in the Anderson Clayton Bros. Chapel with Dr. Carey Ford officiating. Interment followed in the Dallas Ft. Worth National cemetery under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. of Kemp.
Mr. Putt was born June 4, 1921, in Guntown, Miss., to the late James and Lena (Massey) Putt and passed away Dec. 31, 2002, in Kemp.
He was a member of the Christian Church and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. serving in the Pacific during World War II. Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death. He was married to Virginia Davis on June 21, 1947, in Houston.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Putt of Kemp; daughters, Brenda McCollum of Longview, Janet Cox of Blooming Grove, Nancy Ford of Corsicana and Christie Borders of Kaufman; son, Russell Eugene Putt Jr. of Kuwait; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Hettie Lawson of Peach Tree, Ga., Sara Martin of Sacramento, Calif., Louise Cohen of Dallas and Sandra Hurt of Denver, Colo.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
