Mary Ruth Smith
Funeral services for Mary Ruth Smith, 76, of Wills Point, formerly of Terrell, were held Sept. 28, 2003, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Rev. Jimmy Sheppard officiating. Interment followed at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith passed away Friday morning, Sept. 26, 2003, in a Dallas hospital.
She was born Feb. 2, 1927, near Wills Point, the daughter of Lonzo Ruff and Mable Ellen Waldrop Mosley. On March 13, 1946, Ruth married
Melvin Alfred Smith in Rockwall.
She lived most of her life in Terrell where she was employed at Ranger Boot, Safeway for nine years, Brookshire’s for nine years and later owned and operated Smith’s Cafe for five years. Mrs. Smith also worked at Terrell State Hospital until she retired.
She had lived at Lake Tawakoni for the past 25 years and was member of Seven Oaks Baptist Church near Wills Point.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Juanita Janell Brewer and Violet Marie Mills; a brother, Avon Ray Mosley; and a grandson, Vincent Scott Bankston.
She is survived by husband Melvin Smith of Wills Point; son Buddy Smith of Wills Point; daughter Ellen Kay McAnally of Wills Point; two brothers, Dewey Franklin Mosley of Terrell and Leonard Earl Mosley of Kaufman; two sisters, Bonnie Louise Petersen of Wills Point and Eunice Ann Jacobs of Terrell; three grandchildren, Kyle Wayne Bankston, Rodney Ray Smith and wife Heather, and Katrina Lavette Marlowe; five great-grandchildren, Tiffani Krystine Bankston, Lauren Kylann Bankston, Haley Sabrina James, Mikayla Brooke Marlowe and Jarrett Vincent Arthur Bankston.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home.
Linda White Williams
Linda White Williams, 55, of Mesquite died Sunday near Snyder, Texas. Funeral services are pending.
Linda was born Aug. 21, 1947, in Dallas, the daughter of Herbert and Edna White. She was a member of Shady Land Baptist Church in Mesquite.
Survivors include her father, Herbert White of Southlake; her mother, Edna White of Kaufman; a brother, Larry White of Fort Worth; two sons, Floyd Williams and Kenneth Williams, both of Mesquite; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Funeral Home in Terrell.
Hugh Thompson
Hugh R. Thompson, 82, passed away Feb. 5, 2003, in Ennis. He was born Oct. 8, 1920, in Kingston, Okla., to Russell White and Ivy Rose Griffith Thompson.
He served in the Marine Corps in World War II in the South Pacific. After the war, he worked in the oilfield including offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil and Ethiopia. He retired in 1982 to Canton and later moved to Kaufman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Ivy Thompson; brothers Clyde, Harry and Bill Thompson; and sisters Hilda Whatley, Rosalie Cooper and Joann Mears. He was a Mason.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law James R. (Jim) and Donna Beth Thompson of Kaufman; three grandsons, Lance, Ryan and Cody Thompson of Kaufman; two sisters, Erny Willits of Tulsa, Okla., and Beverly Collins of Drumright, Okla.
Services were held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with Bro. Mike Kellet and James Thompson officiating. Interment was at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Kaufman ISD Scholarship Foundation, 1000 South Houston Street, Kaufman, Texas 75142.
Funeral services were directed by Eubank Funeral Home Inc. in Canton.
Faye M. Gipson
Faye Marie Gipson, longtime resident of Terrell, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Feb. 7, 2003, at her home in Terrell. Mrs. Gipson was born in Wood County, Texas, on Nov. 7, 1914, to Stonewall Gray and Laura Bridges Gray. She was preceded in death by brothers Jim Ewing and Louis Stovall, and sisters Lillie Mae Holley, Ethel Mize and Edna Griffin.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, J.M. Gipson of Terrell; daughters and son-in-law, Charlotte and Scott Gilmore and Bettye Hall, all of Terrell; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Lydia Gipson of Tyler; seven grandchildren, Jenny MacDowell of Johnstown, Pa., Lori Andrews of Pasadena, Calif., Juliann Larsen of Austin, James Hall of Abilene, Celinda Lindsey of Terrell, Terry Gipson of White Plains, N.Y., and Kerry Long of Frisco; eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
A service of celebration of her life was held at Goggans Funeral Home in Terrell at 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, with Rev. Steve Odom officiating, and interment followed at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell.
Serving as pallbearers was Terry Gipson, James Hall, Rusty Lindsey, Rob Long, Ken Larsen and Craig Ostrander. Friends were invited to a visitation with the family Saturday, Feb. 8, from 6-8 p.m. at Goggans Funeral Home.
Faye grew up in Wood County and later moved to the Tona Community north of Terrell where she met and married
her husband. She was a housewife and worked in the cotton fields and on the dairy farm with her husband until the family moved into Terrell in the early ‘50s. Faye and J.M. both went to work at Terrell State Hospital where Faye worked 25 years as a nurse technician and where she made lifelong friends. She was a graduate of the Nurse Technician School of Navarro Junior College. Faye was an avid golfer and bowler. She was a longtime member of First Christian Church of Terrell. Her family and many friends celebrate the long life of this wonderful woman.

Ray “Butch” Bedrick, Jr.
July 7, 1953 – January 26, 2003
Ray “Butch” Bedrick Jr., 49, of Kaufman, beloved son, brother, grandson, uncle and nephew passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at his home. Ray was born July 7, 1953, in Bryan, Texas, to Raymond and Betty Bedrick who were stationed there with the Air Force. In 1956, Ray’s family moved to Kaufman where he grew up in the country – riding horses, playing sports and learning to drive. Graduating from Kaufman High School in 1971, Ray played several years with the Kaufman Lions Varsity. He was named “Mr. K.H.S.” and Student Council President his senior year.
Ray received his marketing degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and began a long and successful career in marketing and sales. He continued his career through 16 cities across the country from California to Tennessee. Ray also was owner of his own company, RBJ Label. Wherever he lived, Ray struck up friendships he cherished for life. Ray owned his own printing company, RBJ Label, for eleven years. He remained a passionate Texas Longhorn fan throughout his life. He was also a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church of Kaufman, American Paint Horse Association, and the KJT organization.
Active in sports, Ray was also an avid horseman, and in recent years, was a member of the Tri-Valley Trailblazers. Those who knew Ray best rarely saw him without his horses or dogs, and he often shared their antics with family and friends. Ray loved the outdoors and the simple things. He recently wrote “God makes me laugh in so many ways, and I thank him for that… everyday.”
Ray – his big heart, his humor, caring and outgoing personality - will be deeply missed every day, especially by his parents, Betty and Raymond; and sisters, Barbara Bedrick of Dallas, Marjorie Saenz and husband John of Sachse, and Sherri Martin and husband, Allen, of Kaufman. He loved children; and his niece, Courtney Saenz, and nephews, Andrew and Joshua Saenz, and Lantz Martin will miss “Uncle Butch” very much.
Ray is also survived by his grandparents, Frank and Mary Bedrick of Kaufman, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gladys Rodgers Ray and Cecil Rodgers.
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at St. Ann’s. Father Joseph Mehan Jr. officiated with eulogy by Pastor Brent Gentzel, First Baptist Church, Kaufman. Pallbearers were Mark Phillips, Steve Rychlik, Rod Rychlik, Mike Bedrick, David Lott, and Henry Roy Rychlik. A Rosary was said by Deacon James Burkel at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home.
The family of Ray Bedrick wishes to express his gratitude for the prayers, food and support from many friends and family members, and to members of both St. Ann’s and First Baptist congregations who offered support in the loss of son and brother, Ray.
Wilma Cech
Wilma Cech of Terrell passed away on Feb. 10, 2003. Services are pending at this time with Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Terrell.
Gary D. Hunt
Gary D. Hunt of Kaufman County passed away at his residence April 23, 2003.
Born June 26, 1945, in Kaufman to the late Jadie and Christine Hunt, he lived his entire life in the Red Oak Community.
Hunt graduated from Kaufman High School in 1963 and retired from ASC, formerly Titus Manufacturing.
Hunt was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Billy Hunt, and brother-in-law L.B. Smith.
Surviving are his sisters, Jimmie Sue Peters and her husband, Ernest, of Farmers Branch and Vivian Ruth Smith of Kaufman. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him for his big heart and smile.
Services were held on April 26, 2003, at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel in Terrell with Rev. Jay Barnes officiating. Interment was at Radar cemetery.
Annie Bell McKee White
Annie Bell McKee White of Kaufman passed away April 26, 2003, in Terrell, Texas.
She was born June 17, 1915, in Kaufman, Texas to the late William H. and Commintie (Perkins) McKee.
She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Kaufman, worked for Doris Dunn in Kaufman County and retired from the Kaufman County tax office in 1985.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl White, grandson Danny Lear and five brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilois Eudy and her husband, Thomas, and Mickie Lear and her husband, Tom, all of Kaufman.
Grandsons are Ted, Chris, Barry Lear and Brad Eudy. Granddaughters are Wendy Lear and Sara Brian. She had six great grandsons and four great daughters.
Services were held April 28, 2003, in the Kaufman cemetery with Rev. John Gondol officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. of Kaufman.
Tommy Wayne Evans
Tommy Wayne Evans was born in Kaufman on Nov. 26, 1965, to Billy Wayne Evans and Shirley Reid. Tommy passed away in Kaufman on April 18, 2003.
Tommy was raised in Kaufman and lived most of his life in Kaufman.
He is survived by his son, Zachary Evans of Kaufman; mother, Shirley East of Wills Point; father, Bill Evans of Kaufman; sister, Tammy Evans of Cleburne; grandparents, Margaret Evans of Kaufman and Hazel Mullins of Mabank; aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held April 19, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Moore and Mike Kellett officiating. Interment followed in Fox cemetery.

Richard Lennox
Funeral services for Richard Lennox of Kaufman were held 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2003, in the Anderson Clayton Bros. Chapel with Rev. Harry Erb officiating. Interment followed in the Wilson Chapel cemetery under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. of Kaufman.
Mr. Lennox was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, to the late John Henry and Viva Lennox and passed away April 17, 2003, in Dallas. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and was preceded in death by his wife, Robbie Lennox, on July 22, 2002.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandy Swann, and her husband, Lee, of Kaufman; grandchildren Keith Bradley and Teresa Hood; great grandchildren Katelyn and Courtney Bradley and Taylor and Alexander Hood; sister Lela Mae Denny of Mount Pleasant; brothers Tommy Lenox of Sulphur Springs, Travis Lennox of Garland, and J.R. Lennox of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Rosser Vernon Hardin
Rosser Vernon Hardin of Kaufman was born Sept. 3, 1912, in the Rand Community of Kaufman County, Texas, to the late Rosser Franklin and Willie Tom (Baldree) Hardin and passed away April 8, 2003, in Kaufman. He was a charter member of the Cottage Heights Baptist Church and a Senior Deacon. He was also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joe Kenneth Hardin and by 4 brothers, Roy Lee, James Elton, Gene, and Joe Allen Hardin. He is survived by his wife, Lottie Ann Hardin, of Kaufman; son James Richard Hardin and his wife, Joan, of Dallas; daughter Verna Ann Brazil and her husband, Merion, of Dallas; daughter-in-law Agnes Hardin of Kaufman; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister Pauline Evans of Kaufman; and sisters-in-law Ollie Mae Benson of Kaufman and Ester McGrew Hardin of San Antonio.
Services were 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003, in the Cottage Heights Baptist Church in Kaufman with Rev. Todd Peavy officiating. Interment followed in the Kaufman cemetery. The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at the Funeral Home.
Harold Dean Stanfield
Funeral services for Harold Dean Stanfield, 70, of Kaufman were held 2 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2003, in the Kaufman Church of Christ with Mr. Terry Thomas officiating. Interment followed in the Kemp cemetery under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. of Kaufman.
Mr. Stanfield was born May 4, 1933, in Kaufman to the late Cecil and Maurine (Lagow) Stanfield and passed away July 19, 2003, in Scurry, Texas. He was a member of the Kaufman Church of Christ. He owned Economy Elevator Co. in Dallas for 26 years.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Stanfield, of Kaufman; daughters Pamela June Narramore and her husband, Rick, of Rowlett and Kim Annette Stanfield of Dallas; grandchildren Ryan and Blake Narramore of Rowlett; and brother Billy Carrol Stanfield of Texarkana.
Pallbearers were Jim Toney, Michael Toney, Stephen Toney, Bill Stanfield Jr., Jim Howard, Jim Howell and Gerald Howell. Honorary pallbearers were Randy Toney and Ed Moore.
Memorials may be made to the Kaufman Church of Christ Mission Fund, The American Cancer Society or the Texas Department of Mental Health and Retardation.
Jimmie Oliver Alsup Sr.
Jimmie Oliver Alsup Sr. was born in Knox City, Texas, on March 11, 1937, to Oliver and Emma Jennings Alsup. Jimmie passed away in Terrell on July 19, 2003.
Jimmie was raised in Waco and attended schools in Waco. He retired from Affiliated Food Stores in 1993 after 30 years.
He worked for Bright Transportation in Dallas for several years. He started the Rolling Oaks Fire Department where he served as Chief and Training Officer.
Jimmie was a member of the Walnut Springs Bible Baptist Church in Canton. Jimmie married
Ellner Bigham in Waco on Oct. 16, 1954, and she preceded him in death on June 9, 2002.
Jimmie is survived by his son, Jimmie Alsup Jr. and his wife, Michelle, of Kaufman; daughter Kathy Alsup of Houston; stepson Jerry Caldwell of Terrell; stepdaughter Peggy Boone of Austin; sister Mary Channon of Tyler; eight grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held July 21, 2003, at Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Harris and Rev. James M. Smith officiating. Interment followed in Radar cemetery.

Dusten R. Williams
Dusten R. Williams, 14, of Crandall died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, in rural Saline County, Kan. Dusten was born Nov. 25, 1988, in Salina, Kan.
He was a student at L.F. Raynes Middle School, Crandall, and had attended Solomon Elementary School in Solomon, Kan. Dusten loved bowling and the Internet.
Dusten is survived by father Mark and wife Penny Williams of New Cambria, Kan.; mother Vicki and husband Moss Kines of Crandall; paternal grandparents Robert and Carol Williams of Salina; maternal grandmother Emogene Parrott of Salina, Kan.; step paternal grandparents Al and Sallie Potts of Vine Grove, Ky.; maternal step grandfather Manuel Kines of Crandall; brother Michael Parrott of Crandall; stepbrother Albert Kalvig of New Cambria, Kan.; stepsister Larissa Kluzman of Salina; aunts Carlene Redding and Terri Bennett of Salina, Shelly Williams of Bonner Springs, Kan.; uncles Bobby Williams and Roger Peterson of Salina, Kan.
Memorial services were held in Salina, Kan., at the Ryan Mortuary on at 10 a.m. July 19, 2003. Memorial services will be held in Crandall at 10 a.m. July 24, 2003, at Central Baptist Church, Hwy. 148 South.
