Raymond Daniel Shirley

Raymond Shirley, 93, died July 23, 2012, peacefully at home with his family by his side. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 7-8 p.m., July 25, 2012, at the Meador Funeral Home, 401 Hwy. 377 N., Whitesboro, Texas. Graveside services will be Thursday, July 26, at New Hope Cemetery in Mountain Springs, Cooke County at 9:00 a.m. He was born July 16, 1919, in Harris County, Texas to Hardy and Sarah (Ewell) Shirley. Raymond enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1942. He met the love of his life, Lucille Covington, while stationed at Camp Howze, Texas. They married on March 11, 1944, just weeks before he was deployed to Europe. After serving in WWII, he went to work for Chevron Oil as an oilfield pumper retiring in 1982 after 32 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hosting fish fries for family and friends. He and Lucille also enjoyed taking bus tours together seeing much of the United States. They were loyal Texas Ranger fans and never missed a game on TV. Raymond and Lucille were season tickets holders for the Sherman Bearcats for over 60 years, traveling to many out of town games. He absolutely loved his family and was very proud of what a wonderful legacy that he and Lucille created. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nita Shirley Slaughter and husband, Bob of Sherman, son and daughter-in-law, Randy Shirley and wife Nancy of Sadler; 5 grandchildren: Rhonda Slaughter Colgrove and husband Danny of Frisco, Brad Slaughter and wife, Susan of Aubrey, Beth Slaughter Helgesen and husband Todd of Denton, Caleb Shirley and wife, Stacy of Celina, and Amanda Shirley Shearman and husband, Tim of North Richland Hills; 11 great grandchildren: Klayton and Callie Colgrove, Alex and Lance Slaughter, Luke, Noah and Morgan Helgesen, Michelle and Jack Shirley, Claire and Ella Shearman, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who were considered family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 3 brothers: Ralph, Otto and Harry Shirley. COLLINSVILLE – Funeral services for Monique R. Walker, 53, will be held Monday, July 30, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Pastor Danny Shaver officiating. Interment will follow the service at Macomb Cemetery. Family visitation will be Sunday, July 29, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. She passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012, in Collinsville, Texas. Monique Robia Walker was born in California on April 17, 1959. She is the daughter of Ed and Rita (Lopez) Kadar. She married Michael Walker on August 11, 2000 in Collinsville, Texas. She was employed at Tyson Foods Incorporated in Sherman, Texas for the last six years. She was a member of the Circle J Cowboy Church. She loved her children and grandchildren. She also loved horses. She is survived by her husband, Mike Walker, of Collinsville, TX; children: Christina Najara, of Orlando, FL; Clay Walker, of Bokchito, OK; Casey Walker, of Denton, TX; Kristen Walker and Kresha Walker of Denton, TX; grandchildren: Kristofer, Vicente, and Krishani Lopez; Mason Walker, and Christopher Garcia; mother, Rita Kadar, of Missouri; and many brothers and sisters; father-in-law, Don Walker and wife, Magaretta; and mother-in-law, Melva Jo Graham Walker. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Ed Kadar; and son, Richard Garcia. WHITESBORO –Surrounded by her family, Lavena Sue Cravens, 61, of Whitesboro passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on July 29, 2012. Services will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Minister Brenda Smith and Travis Wadley officiating. Family visitation will be prior to the service from 6-7 p.m. Sue was born on February 10, 1951 to Warren G. and Inez (Sherwood) Cravens in Ada, Oklahoma. She married Al “Sonny” Nardone in 2004 in Miami, Florida. She was a sales associate at Dillard’s Department Store in Sherman, Texas. She was a people person, enjoying the day to day interactions with everyone around her. She was previously employed with J. C. Penney. She was the president of the Home Owner’s Association for Casa Del Sol. Sue enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid traveler and enjoying visiting many different locations. She is survived by her son, John W. Watson, II, and his wife, Sherry, of Saginaw, TX; granddaughters: Cortney Fraser, Amanda Vespremi and husband, Luke; and Taylor Watson; two great-grandsons: Harley Vespremi and Bryson Vespremi; her mother, Inez Mullins of Whitesboro, Texas; sisters: Jean Oliver, Betty Dawn Johnson and husband, Mike; and Marion Hite; brothers: Mike Cravens and John Cravens and wife, Diane; and numerous nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al “Sonny” Nardone; and her father, Warren G. Cravens.
Gladys B. Croney

WHITESBORO – Mass of Christian Service for Gladys B. Croney, 86, will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church in Whitesboro, Texas with Father Toni Aureus officiating. There will be a Rosary on Thursday, August 2, at 6:00 p.m. at the church. All service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas. She passed away on July 31, 2012 in Whitesboro, Texas. Gladys was born on September 4, 1925 to William Charley and Cynthia (Raper) Kincheloe. She married Howard G. Croney, Sr. on July 12, 1943 in Hanna, Oklahoma. They were married for 53 years. She enjoyed riding horses, dancing, fishing and country music. She loved her son, her grandchildren, and her family. She was a Pink Lady volunteer a Texas Health Presbyterian – WNJ in Sherman, Texas. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Whitesboro, Texas, and a member of the St. Francis Women’s Guild. She is survived by her son, Howard “Sonny” Croney and his wife, Nancy, of Whitesboro, TX; grandchildren: Wendy Caldwell, Christy Terry and husband, David) of Whitesboro; and David Phillips of Frisco, TX; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; and her sister, Ruth Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Croney, Sr.; her parents, Charlie and Cynthia Kincheloe; and sister, Virgie Lee Smith. Tom was born on August 17, 1928 to Barnie B. and Bertha Emma (Moncrief) Farr in Ethel, Texas. He married Laura Jo Walker on September 11, 1948 in Paris, Texas. He was a member of the Collinsville Church of Christ. He was a member of the A.F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge #263. He loved to fly and enjoyed traveling to the beach or to the mountains. He was a people person and enjoyed talking with people. He loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Laura Farr, of Collinsville, TX; sons: Thomas R. (Dick) Farr, Jr. and wife, Marvonne, of Stafford, TX; James F. (Jim) Farr and wife, Jutuan of The Woodlands, TX; and Peter R. (Rob) Farr of Elk City, OK; daughter, Rebecca Farr of Austin, TX; grandchildren: Todd Farr, April Yelvington, Brian Farr, Lauren Barker, Amber Farr, and Garrett Farr; great-grandchildren: Allison, Luke, Julia and Abby Yelvington; Keira and Kari Cantwell; Benjamin and Sophia Barker; and a sister, Patricia Bagley. Byrl Rockford Armel
August 16, 1922 - May 31, 2013
KRUM - Funeral services for Byrl Rockford Armel, 90, will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at New Life First Baptist Church located at 12 Gregg Rd., Krum, Texas 76249, officiated by Bro. Ed Gatlin. Interment will follow at Jackson Cemetery in Krum. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday, June 3, 2013 at New Life First Baptist Church in Krum. Services are under the direction of Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home in Gainesville.
Byrl passed away on Friday, May 31, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Byrl was born on August 16, 1922 in Rippon, West Virginia to Archie Randolph and Grace Marie (Henry) Armel. He married Betty Burrow on May 19, 1945 in Marietta, Oklahoma. Byrl and Betty just celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Byrl served in the United States Army during WWII as a staff sergeant. During that time, he was stationed at Camp Howze in Gainesville, Texas and in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. He was an American Defense Bronze Star recipient, an Atlantic Pacific Theater Ribbon Bronze Star recipient and was recognized with Sharp Shooter Compilation. Byrl was a 32nd degree Mason with the Gainesville Masonic Lodge #210 AF & AM. He was a master mechanic working as a foreman on the Trans Alaskan Pipeline and he also worked in South America on pipelines. Byrl enjoyed woodworking, fishing, farming and loved his family dearly.
Byrl is survived by his wife, Betty Armel of Krum; two daughters, Etta Morris and husband, Bill, of Krum and LaPage Sampley and husband, Gary, of Krum; son, Byrl E. Armel and wife Connie of Krum; grandchildren, Rodney Sampley and wife, Lorie, Lesley Tatum and wife, Neitha , Shelly Scott and husband, Chris, Daphne Arrington and husband, Chris, Rebecca Morris, Billy Morris and wife, Michelle, Cheyenne DeFee and husband, Danny and Ben Armel; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Grace Armel; two brothers, Archie Armel and Mark Armel; and a sister, Dulcie Hobday.
Pallbearers will be: Rodney Sampley, Lesley Tatum, Ben Armel, Pat Patrick, Mike Lauderback and Ronnie Burleson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Russell Etter and Pearce Sampley.

He passed away on June 3, 2013 in Denison, Texas.
Glenn was born on February 25, 1947 in Honey Grove, Texas to Billy Joe and Norma Deane (Williams) Strickland. He married Pat Coleman on December 30, 1994 in Sherman, Texas. He was employed at U. S. Aviation at Perrin Airfield. He enjoyed fishing. He loved his grandchildren and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Strickland, of Sherman, TX; sons: Bobby Strickland and wife, Kristie, of Sherman, TX; Eddie Strickland and wife, Penny, of Anna, TX; and James Ragsdale and wife, Kris, of Collinsville, TX; daughter, Lori Gann, of Denison, TX; ten grandchildren: Jacob and Matthew Strickland; Candyce, Logan and Dustin Strickland; Coby and Cory Ragsdale; and Kimberli, Eric and Lorin Gann; one great granddaughter, Jordyn Derrer; and two brothers, Jerry Strickland and wife, Lois, of St. Louis, MO; and Joe Strickland and wife, Diane, of Denison, TX; and his mother-in-law, Gwen Coleman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Norma Strickland.
The pallbearers will be his grandsons: Jacob Strickland, Matthew Strickland, Logan Strickland, Dustin Strickland, Coby Ragsdale, Cory Ragsdale and Eric Gann. The honorary pallbearer will be T. J. Derrer.

She passed away on June 4, 2012 at Texas Health Presbyterian, WNJ in Sherman, Texas.
Margaret was born on April 17, 1943 to James Leroy Vaught and Mendie Goodwin in Bessemer, Alabama. She enjoyed working on crafts, camping and fishing. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her pet dogs. She liked traveling to her brother’s home in Alabama and to other places as well. She looked forward to her quiet time of checking her Facebook page, drinking a cup of coffee and smoking a cigarette.
She is survived by her sons: Jesse Scott and wife, June, of Romana, CA; Gene Clark and wife, Kimberly, of Marrietta, OK; daughters: Beth Clark and companion, Rusty Clarkson, of Whitesboro, TX; Renee Scott and fiancée, Rick Williams of Sanger, TX; brothers: James L. Vaught and wife, Joan, of Ozark, AL; Jimmy Vaught of Arizona; Jake Waldrop and wife, Cathy, of Birmingham, AL; and sister, Glenda Comeaux, and husband, Mike, of South Dakota; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Vaught and Mendie Goodwin; son, William “Gabby” Scott; daughter, Mendie “Neese” Clark; two sisters and one brother.
Jim Arthur Bean

WHITESBORO - Graveside services for Jim Arthur Bean, 90, will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jim passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in Broomfield, Colorado.
He was born on November 28, 1922 in Dexter, Texas to James Arthur Bean and Mary (Derryberry) Bean. Jim served in the U.S. Navy during WW II aboard the USS Conyngham. He married Mary Kemp on March 29, 1947 in Gainesville, Texas. Jim retired in 1981 as Head of Security for General Motors in Arlington, Texas. He was an avid golfer and loved to garden.
Survivors include a grandson, Bret McInnis and wife, Kelly of Superior, Colorado; 2 great-grandsons, Kyle McInnis of Austin, Texas and Bo McInnis of Superior, Colorado; a sister, Frances Hargesheimer; a nephew, Jerry Turner; and a niece, Sharon DuBose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Bean; a son, Michael J. McInnis; and his wife, Mary Bean.
Peggy Hesitlow
Peggy Hestilow, 65, of Borger died Thursday, August 28, 2008 at her home.
She was born July 25, 1943 in Hollis, OK to Olin and Adelaide (Meeks) Weldon. Mrs. Hestilow was a
sales representative for Avon, a member of University Heights Christian Church and belonged to the
VFW Auxillary, DAV, and the American Legion. She married Ronald Hestilow on June 2, 1961 at
Calvary Baptist Church in Borger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Robert Daniel Hestilow in 1966, and a sister Rita
Gayle Weldon.
Mrs. Hestilow is survived by her husband Ronald, two sons Ronald Olin Hestilow of Shawnee, OK and
Richard Scott Hestilow of Alanreed, TX, a sister Elizabeth Flowers of Panhandle and three
grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Brown’s Chapel Of The Fountains
with Leonard Holt, Pastor of University Heights Christian Church with burial at 3:00 PM, Tuesday,
September2, 2008 at Alanreed Cemetery in Alanreed, TX.
Phyllis McClellan
Phyllis McClellan, 76, of Borger, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2008 in Amarillo.
She was born November 21, 1931 in Borger to Walter Kirk and Dorothy May (Spivey) Patrick. On
December 22, 1950 she married Donald McClellan in Clovis, New Mexico.
She is preceded in death by her husband, a son; Kirk McClellan, a brother; Charles Patrick and a
granddaughter.
Survivors include a son; Kevin and Thetta McClellan of Borger; a daughter, Clandy and Donnie Phelps of
Borger; a daughter in law, Kathy McClellan of Amarillo, seven grandchildren, and three
great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be the Grandchildren.
