Mr. Stanhope was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Green Forest, Ark.
Max was a positive influence to everyone who knew him. He was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His friendship was strong and true to everybody acquainted with him. He led his family by example, teaching us all his work ethic and unconditional love, and that it is important to turn the other cheek and not be in judgment of others. We have so many priceless memories together. He gave us advice when it was needed and asked for and, occasionally, when we didn't ask for it. His pride in our good decisions reflected in his smile. He raised his children to be honorable and respectful, and they have passed that on to their children now. Max enjoyed his work and family.
In his retirement years, he developed many friends, playing dominoes, pool and cards with them regularly at "The Office." He enjoyed music, especially acoustic guitars. Max was a big Dallas Cowboys fan, always waiting eagerly for the season to come around. He and his grandsons spoke a special language to misguide those around them and tell their secrets. They all looked forward to football season so they could use this language even more.
Max was a respected man. A good man. These words from friends and neighbors have brought much comfort to his family. A person doesn't have to look far to see that his legacy of great character will live on in the hearts of all of us. We are grateful to him and the influence he has had, and will continue to have, on our lives forever and always. Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad. He is in our hearts always. He is so very, very special to us.
