Larry Lee Hicks
GRUVER - Larry Lee Hicks, 54, died Saturday, December 26, 2009.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2009 in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Curry officiating. Burial was in Gruver Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.
Larry was born July 12, 1955, in Plainview. He graduated from Gruver High School in 1974. He attended Clarendon Junior College, and Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
He married Rhonda Jo Turner on August 19, 1977, in Pampa. He was a compressor mechanic for Panhandle Eastern Gas and DCP, and was a farmer.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and Gruver First Baptist Brotherhood.
Larry loved painting western and mountain scenes and spending time with family and friends.
Larry enjoyed being with his son, Jordan. He loved hunting, fishing and watching football together.
Larry was selfless, kind, gentle and giving. He had a heart of gold. His sense of humor was like no other.
He adored his children and grandsons, and they adored their Dad and Poppa. Playing and being with his grandsons was a great joy for Larry.
Larry was a great Christian man and loved Jesus with all his heart. He was a hard worker and never complained. He had a beautiful heart and soul.
Larry is loved so much by his family. He is forever Rhonda's best friend and soulmate. Their 32 years together were filled with love, laughter and great times.
His family will miss him so much, but we are grateful and thankful to Jesus that we will see and be with Larry again in Heaven.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Hicks; two infant brothers; and his grandparents, R.L. and Dorotha Ballard and Melvin and Dorothy Hicks.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Hicks; two daughters, Brandea Allen and husband Mark of Spearman and Chelsie Hicks of Spearman; a son, Jordan Hicks of Gruver; his mother, Carolyn Hicks of Amarillo; a brother, Bobby Dale Hicks of Amarillo; a sister, Susan Lancaster of Amarillo; two grandsons, Max Wright and Matt Allen, both of Spearman; his mother-in-law, Peggy Turner of Aurora, TX; and many sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, neices, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Nancy DeLuna Jernberg
STINNETT - Nancy DeLuna Jernberg, 47, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009.
Graveside services were at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 24, 2009 in Stinnett Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Jernberg was born March 13, 1962, in Olton to Juan and Audelia DeLuna. She married Gerald Jernberg on Dec. 7, 1985, in Stinnett.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Cody Lee Jernberg of Lawton, Okla., and Andrew Jernberg of Stinnett; a daughter, Miranda DeLuna of Stinnett; four brothers, Eddie DeLuna, Johnny DeLuna and Eric DeLuna, all of Amarillo, and Ricky DeLuna of Borger; four sisters, Linda Rodriguez of Perryton, Patsy Barrera of Spearman, Yolanda Jones of Morse and Sophia Pillard of Lubbock; and five grandchildren.
Elizabeth Louise "Beth" Phelps
SPEARMAN - Elizabeth Louise "Beth" Phelps, 92, died Thursday, December 17, 2009.
Services were at 3:30 p.m. Monday, December 21, 2009 in First Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Reeves, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.
Beth was born March 24, 1917, to Hix and Trixie Wilbanks and was a lifetime resident of Spearman. Beth graduated from Spearman High School and attended college at Texas Tech University. She married Ray Phelps on Sept. 3, 1937.
Beth was a wife, mother, homemaker and artist. She was a member of First Christian Church in Spearman. She attended Bible study fellowship and was dedicated to the study of the Bible. She was a talented artist. Her paintings were included in local and state art exhibits.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her twin sister, Ruth Bryan; sister Mary Hazlewood; and a foster brother, Marcus Larson.
Survivors include a sister, Julia Billingsley of Lubbock; a son, Howell Phelps and wife Sandra of Austin; a daughter, Janice Phelps of Dallas; a grandson, David Phelps and wife Stephanie of Fort Worth; a grandson, Todd Phelps of Austin; a great-grandson, Ethan Phelps of Fort Worth; a great-granddaughter, Caroline Phelps of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to First Christian Church or 707 S. Roland St., Spearman, TX 79081.
Clarence "C.J." Parker
BORGER - Clarence "C.J." Parker, 82, died Friday, December 18, 2009.
Graveside services were at noon Monday, December 21, 2009 in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Darrell Burton, chaplain of Hospice Care of the Southwest, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Mr. Parker retired in 2004 from Groendyke Transport as a truck driver. He served in the Army Air Forces, mostly in Guam.
Survivors include his wife, Lottie; two sons, Larry Parker of Borger and Terry Parker of McKinney; a stepson, Wayne Winks of Borger; a daughter, Susan Poole of Spearman; three stepdaughters, Debbie Quezada of Amarillo, Kay West of Fritch and Penny Helms of Bangs; two brothers, Johnny Parker of Borger and Eddie Parker of Amarillo; three sisters, Shirley Anderson of Darrozett, Bonnie Moore of Fritch and Carol Lewis of Borger; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Betty Reeves
JOSHUA -- Betty Reeves, 63, of Joshua, a homemaker, died Saturday, December 12, 2009, at a Dallas hospital.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Cleburne Bible Church. Interment was at White Church Cemetery near Glen Rose.

Betty Catherine Reeves was born July 12, 1946, in Dallas to Gerald McKinley and Evelyn Morrow Powell. She married Terry Lynn Reeves on Dec. 27, 1969, in Granbury. She was a very loving wife, mother, and "Nanna," sister, friend, and a very faithful servant of her Savior. She was truly a Proverbs 31 wife. She dedicated her entire working career to helping others through the medical field and loved ministering to her patients. She was passionate about life. She loved her family, church family, friends, making memories, and sharing her faith with others. She joyfully volunteered her time at Cleburne Pregnancy Center and served in various ministries at Cleburne Bible Church using her God-given gift of hospitality.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jimmy Powell; and stepfather, Albert Mackie.
Survivors: Husband, Terry Reeves of Joshua; son, Gerald Reeves and wife, Stephanie, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughters, Crystal Valentino and husband, Shawn, of Burleson, Kim Stuckey and husband, Chris, of Port Allegany, Pa.; sisters, Nancy Hollingwood and husband, Jim, of Pampa, Patsy Welch and husband, Travis, of Comanche; grandchildren, Cassey and Hunter Stuckey, Cord, Sawyer and Bryson Reeves, and Chloe Valentino; many nieces, nephews and other family members; and lots of friends.
Vernon Rayford "Ray" Brewer
SADLER - Vernon Rayford "Ray" Brewer, 71, died Thursday, December 3, 2009, in Denison.
No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are by Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro.
Ray was born Sept. 22, 1938, in Wheeler to Millard F. and Clara Hubble Brewer. He was a master electrician and an avid hunter and deep-sea fisherman. He worked for Union 76 (later Unocal) for 30 years. He also served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Vesuvius during the Vietnam conflict. He also enjoyed boating and collecting arrowheads. Ray was the best "Papa" ever, dearly loving his family, and especially his grandchildren. He was known for his big heart.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters; two sons, Curtis Brewer and Denny Ray Brewer; and a grandson, Camerick McElroy.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Brewer of Sadler; two sons, Michael "Deno" Brewer of Dallas and Lonnie Brewer of Burnet; two daughters, Denise McElroy and husband Leo of Spearman and Cathy Schick of Denver; eight grandchildren, Jenna McElroy and fiance Chance Riggins, Kade Turner, Rhiley Turner, Harley Brewer, Kayla Brewer, Christopher Brewer, Heather Brewer and Cyrus Brewer; a brother, Ron Brewer; and two sisters, Elaine Taylor and Estelle Carnal.
Randolph Johnson Warren
Randolph Johnson Warren, 70 years of age as of November 24th, passed away on December 3, 2009 at the Veterans Hospital in Dallas after a long battle with cancer.
RJ was the son of the late David M. Warren, Sr. and wife Alvah Meyer Warren who were associated with the newspaper and banking industry. He was the brother of David M. Warren, Jr. and wife Nan of Dallas.
He is also survived by nieces Janet Warren Herbert of Castle Rock, CO, Stephanie Warren Brock of Spearman; nephews Stephen Paul Warren of Amarillo and David Warren, III of Canyon. He is survived by six grand nieces, five grand nephews and four great-grand nieces and oen great-grand nephew. He was preceded in death by his grand niece, Lynley Elyse Herbert in 2001.
RJ attended the University of Texas and was also a veteran of the United States Navy.

Lloyd Williamson
PERRYTON - Lloyd Williamson, 54, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009.
No services are planned. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
Mr. Williamson was born Sept. 11, 1955, in Eureka, Calif., to Lloyd and Katherin Davis. He had lived in Perryton for seven months.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Kenneth Steve Lang.
Survivors include three sisters, Janie Cole and Doris Williamson, both of Yuma, AZ., and Mary Vasquez of Spearman; and a brother, William Travis Williamson of Happy Camp, Calif.
Rosemary 'Rosa' Vasquez
SPEARMAN - Rosemary 'Rosa' Vasquez, 39, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009 in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Neeley Landrum and the Rev. Jim Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.
Rosa was born Nov. 6, 1970, in Spearman. She married Israel Vasquez on Oct. 13, 1995, in Spearman. She was a Teachers Aid at Spearman ISD and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Spearman.
Rosa was a very special person and a very caring and loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelina Luna in 2001.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Britani Vasquez and Ashley Vasquez, both of Spearman; her father, Joel Olivarez of Spearman; a sister, Maria Bernal of Big Spring, TX; fove stepsons, Israel and Michelle Vasquez Jr. and Joe Vasquez, both of Liberal, KS, Josiah Vasquez and Skyler Sumner, both of Spearman, and Alex Vela of Perryton; three stepdaughters, Amy Vasquez of Spearman and Kim and Antonio Gutierrez and Kristi Vasquez, all of Ord, NE; and 19 grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
Mary Lou Barnes
SPEARMAN - Mary Lou Barnes, 73, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Union Church with Melba Rook officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.
Mrs. Barnes was born July 20, 1936, in Friendville, Tenn., to Lawson and Effie Breeden. She married Oliver Barnes on April 20, 1953, in Knoxville, Tenn.
Survivors include three sons, Junior Barnes of Mesquite, Douglas Barnes of Spearman and Mike Barnes of Amarillo; four daughters, Kay Rowlan of Waka, Hope Moore of Guymon, Okla., Carolyn Lee Schubert of Hardesty, Okla., and Ann Rook of Hugoton, Kan.; a brother, Bobby Breeden of Spearman; 20 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to American Diabetes Association, 8008 Slide Road, Suite 12-A, Lubbock, TX 79424; or a favorite charity.
Mildred Irene Yoho
MORSE - Mildred Irene Yoho, 89, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009.
Services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2009 in Morse Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Stevens officiating. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2009 in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage, Ill., by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.
Mrs. Yoho was born Aug. 5, 1920, in St. Mary's, Ill. She was a member of Assembly of God in Carthage.
Survivors include a daughter, Paula Clemmons and husband Lonnie of Morse; a son, Bradford Alan Yoho and wife Becky of Colchester, Ill.; three grandsons, Seth Wayne Clemmons of Morse, Justin Paul Yoho of Kiokuk, Iowa, and Preston Max Yoho of Colchester; and three great-grandchildren.

Shirley Nesbitt
BORGER - Shirley Nesbitt, 62, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009.
Shirley was a generous wife, mother, daughter, sister, and fiancee. She will be missed by her fiance, Bud Teegarden; her father, Flavil Ayers; her brother, Glenn Ayers; her daughter, Kisaundra Harris; her son-in-law, D.J. Harris; her granddogs, Maynard and Slate; and her parakeet Chipper.
Shirley was born to Flavil and Josephine Ayers on June 3, 1947. She grew up in Spearman and graduated from Spearman High School. She attended Oklahoma Christian College and then transferred to Frank Phillips College, where she met her husband, Byron.
The two married Jan. 18, 1969, and they soon moved to Canyon, where both attended West Texas State University. Shirley worked in the college library and earned what she liked to call a Ph.T. ("Put Hubby Through.")
They had one child, Kisaundra, and made their home in Borger. Shirley was a stay-at-home mom until 1992, when she began working at Frank Phillips College Library. Both she and her husband were members of the Fritch Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her mother and husband.
Shirley moved to Amarillo in 2005 and resided at Canyonview Estates. During this time, another loving man, Bud, entered her life; they became engaged in May 2008.
Shirley was a master garage saler, quilter, and teddy bear collector. She loved Sonic Route 44 vanilla diet Cokes and Snickers. In her later years, Shirley fought a brave battle against multiple sclerosis. Shirley had a peaceful and kind-hearted soul, and she will be dearly missed by all of those who were blessed to meet her.
The family would like to express its gratitude for the compassionate care Shirley received from the nurses and staff at BSA Hospice (Olivia's Angels).
Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in Fritch Church of Christ. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Cemetery.
