BORGER - Mary Magdalene Palmer, 92, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010, in Spearman.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 in Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors Minton Memorial Chapel with Richard Kasko, minister of Fritch Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Palmer was born September 3, 1917, in Personville. She was a retired school cook and a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Troy Palmer of Cordell, Okla., and Coyt Palmer of Amarillo; three daughters, Julia Fortune and Mary Shelton, both of Borger, and Mona Dees of Mount Home, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Richard D. Smith
SPEARMAN - Richard D. Smith, 79, died Saturday, February 13, 2010.
Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2010 in Hansford Cemetery with the Rev. Neely Landrum officiating. Arrangements were by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.
Mr. Smith was born October 13, 1930, in Ashland, KS. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a former volunteer firefighter.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Smith of California; a son, Charles Smith of Nevada; close friend and former wife, Edna Smith of California; and five grandchildren.
August Leroy "Gus" Schott
GUYMON, OK - August Leroy "Gus" Schott, 86, died Saturday, February 6, 2010, in Spearman, Texas.
Services with military rites were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. Michael Burkett and the Rev. Barry Bennett officiating. Burial was in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors.
Mr. Schott was born Feb. 25, 1923, in Manchester to Ada Margaret Krus and August A. Schott. He married Ima Gene Hardenbrook on Aug. 18, 1946.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Diana Tharp of Hardesty; two sons, Bill Schott of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Alan Schott of Liberal, Kan.; a brother, Marvin Schott of Derby, Kan.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 12 step-grandchildren.

Sullivan "Ross" Walker
GRUVER, TX - Sullivan Ross Walker, 90, died on Monday, February 8, 2010, in Spearman, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Gruver with Gaylor Cook officiating. Interment will be at Gruver Cemetery under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman, TX.
Ross was born on June 13, 1919 in Hansford County, and had lived in the area his entire life. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the Army Air Force. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Gruver.
He married Cleo Allsup in 1941 in Odessa, TX. She preceded him in death in 1985. He married Edna Marie Williams in 1985 in Gruver, TX. She preceded him in death in 2008.
Mr. Walker was a farmer and rancher. He and his wife enjoyed many winters at Buchanan Dam in their RV.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Alice Walker; and two brothers, O.V. Walker, Jr. and Roy Walker.
He is survived by three daughters, Sandra Kay Preston of Owasso, OK, Martha and husband David Annspach of Gruver, and Judy Clemans of Guymon, OK; two step-daughters, Geanette Jones of Amarillo, TX and Alicia Dee Shaeffer of Hurst, TX; a special nephew, Allen Walker of Gruver; 24 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Megan E. Graham
LAKEWOOD, CO - Megan E. Graham, beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend passed away Friday, February 5, 2010 at the tender age of 38 at her home in Lakewood, CO. She was born in Leadville to parents Merilee Maupin and the late Myles Nuttall.
She will be remembered as a kind, generous soul who touched many lives. Megan went to school in Leadville graduating from Lake County High School. Many of her former Panther classmates kept in touch with Megan and will remember her fondly at this summer's class reunion. After high school, Megan went on to the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, eventually receiving her Master's Degree in Community Health.
She will be remembered as an animal lover and was involved with the Golden Retriever Rescue organization helping many dogs to be 're-homed'. She also enjoyed scrapbooking and was very active with the Leadville Trail 100.
Megan is survived by her husband, Thompson Graham, of Lakewood; her son, Myles Martinez; her mother Merilee Maupin, of Leadville; aunts, Joyce Pearson, of Bellingham, WA, Sher Kerschen, of Highlands Ranch, CO and Micky Maupin, of Gruver, TX; and numerous cousins.
Megan was preceded in death by her father (1977) and an infant sister, Chelsea (1976).
Megan's generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to her family and all will feel the void she has left.
A Memorial Service was held on Monday, February 8, 2010 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Leadville. The Reverend Peggy Marshall officiated with a eulogy by Ken Chlouber. Arrangements were handled by Bailey Funeral Home.

Lee Roy Mitchell
NOCONA, TX - Lee Roy Mitchell, 88, died at the Wise Regional Health System in Decatur, TX on Monday, February 8 2010.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010 at the Nocona Church of Christ with Austin Wright officiating. Interment will be on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at 3 p.m. in Gruver Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home
Lee Roy was born on November 7, 1921 in Sant Jo, TX to Molly (Collier) and Frank Mitchell.
Lee Roy moved to Nocona 14 years ago from Gruver, Texas. He was active in his church, a member of DAV, the So-Journers-Baptist Men Builders, and was a Ham Operator.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Eades Mitchell; a son, Melvin Leroy Mitchell; and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Arlean Mitchell of Nocona, TX; a son, Larry Don and wife Genevia Mitchell; grandchildren Marlin Mitchell, Cheryl Mitchell, Steven Lee Mitchell and Cheryl Welch, Shon Ranton, Natalie Carter.

Jean Pasket Patschke
STINNETT - Jean Pasket Patschke, 80, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010, in Borger.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010 in Sunset Terrace Cemetery in Farwell with Fred Espinosa of Las Cruces, N.M., officiating. Arrangements were by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Jean taught elementary school for 20 years in Levelland and Farwell. She and her husband, Gil, owned and operated KIJN Christian radio in Farwell for more than 30 years. Her life was dedicated to serving her Lord Jesus Christ and to loving her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan McCloy and husband Rex of Morse and Nancy Blair and husband Steve of Montrose, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Mike McCloy and wife Jamie and Craig, Jenny, Laura, John, Rachel and Corrie McCloy; and a great-grandchild, Owen.

Clifton H. Mannon
Clifton H. Mannon, 84, of Amarillo died Thursday, January 28, 2010.
Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2010 in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with the Rev. Roy S. Wheeler officiating.
Clifton "Bud" Mannon was born November 16, 1925, to Clifton and Bulah Davis Mannon. He was the youngest of five children and the only son. Clifton's family roots were in Blackburn, Ark. Clifton joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 as a Morse code teacher. He also drilled oil wells off the Texas coast. Clifton missed his family, so he went back to school to become an electrical engineer. He moved to Amarillo in 1962 and retired from SPS. Clifton was a member of Paramount Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, LaNan Mannon; and two sons, Morris Mannon and Mark Mannon.
Survivors include two daughters, LouAnn Timmons and Carolyn "Carrie" Mannon; his wife, Avylee Mannon; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Thadine V. Cooper
AMARILLO - Thadine V. Cooper, 85, of Amarillo died Monday, January 25, 2010.
Services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses Southwest Congregation with Daniel Casas officiating. Burial was in Llano Cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Thadine was born Oct. 14, 1924, in Ochiltree County near Spearman to William and Elmina Deck. She was very active in her Jehovah's Witnesses congregation. Thadine was loved by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe H. Cooper.
Survivors include two sons, Clifton Cooper and Cary Cooper; and two daughters, Janice Cooper and Carolyn Kay Chiles.

Verlie "Moe" Neill
DUMAS - Verlie "Moe" Neill, 91, died Saturday, January 23, 2010, in Spearman.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in First Baptist Church in Dumas with Bruce Broxson, family friend, and the Rev. Jerry Howe, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sunray by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Verlie was born March 27, 1918, in Okmulgee County, Okla., to James Luther and Mary Elizabeth Cole. She married Byrd "Po" Neill on Oct. 16, 1936, at Okmulgee, Okla. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1995. They loved to fish, and she was a dedicated Rose Lady. She retired from JCPenney in 1983. Moe loved to go to garage sales and was an excellent negotiator. She was a beloved and devoted mother and grandmother. She had been a resident of Dumas since 1949, and was a member of First Baptist Church.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers; three sisters; and a son-in-law, Lloyd Loman, on Feb. 7,1986.
The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to all of the staff of Hansford Manor and Hansford Hospice for their care of Moe.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Blythe and husband Don of Fritch and Betty Collier and husband Jerry of Dumas; six grandchildren, Mike Blythe, Terri Miller and husband Kevin, Joe Blythe and wife Cindy, Doug Loman and wife Glenda, Kathy Lee and husband Terry and Brenda Emmert and husband Jeff; 16 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Wayne Jordan
AMARILLO - Wayne Jordan, 86, of Amarillo died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010.
Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16 in St. Paul United Methodist Church with Perry Hunsacker officiating. At his request, Mr. Jordan's body was donated to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock. Arrangements were by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St.
Mr. Jordan was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Groom to Mark and Ollye Queen Jordan. He was raised near Crosbyton. He served in the Army during World War II. He raised his daughters in White Deer and moved to Amarillo in 1976. In 2009, Mr. Jordan moved to Spearman to be closer to his daughter, Cindy.
He worked at Wheeler Evans in White Deer from 1945 to 1976. After moving to Amarillo, Mr. Jordan worked as a commodities broker for Snider-Burnett. He also worked as a security guard at Park Place Towers, where he made many friends.
He married Dorothy Colgrove on Aug. 26, 1948; she preceded him in death in 1986.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul Glen Jordan and Wendell Jordan
Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Elmore and husband Mike of Cleburne and Cindy Scribner and husband Jerald Ray of Spearman; a brother, Max Jordan of Amarillo; a sister, Sue Moore of Floydada; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Veterans Auxiliary or a favorite charity.
Claude N. "Pinky" Pearson
PERRYTON - Claude N. "Pinky" Pearson, 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010.
Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16 in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with branch President Jon Garnett officiating. Burial was in Ochiltree Cemetery.
Mr. Pearson was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Ochiltree County and was a lifelong resident. He married Emma Mendenhall in 2002 in Albuquerque, N.M.
He was a farmer and also worked for North Plains Electric until he retired in 1997. He received 4-H certificate for making 4-H trophies for many years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was first counselor for many years and taught seminary for 17 years.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Pearson: three daughters, Cindy Cramer and husband Jim of Portland, Ore., Carolyn Back of Milton, Wash., and Rebecca Taylor and husband Matthew of North Pole, Alaska; three sons, Dr. Merten Pearson and wife Tiffany of Amarillo, Sean Comerford and wife Penny of Show Low, Ariz., and Shea Comerford and wife Tamara of Marysville, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Cole Pearson and Annika Pearson, both of Amarillo, Kelly, Ryan and Tristan Taylor, all of North Pole, Cameron Comerford and wife Bethany of Mesa, Ariz., and April Whiting and husband Kendall of Show Low; three great-grandchildren, Haylee Comerford of Mesa and Tyce and Teegan Whiting, both of Show Low; and a sister, Clella Schmidt of Dumas.
Rebecca Sue Borunda
FRIONA - Rebecca Sue Borunda, 46, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, near Pecos.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Friona. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday in the church with the Rev. George William as celebrant. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home.
Rebecca was born March 5, 1963, in Spearman to Felipe and Estella M. Lopez Guzman Jr. They lived several years in Gruver.
She married Jesus Jose Borunda in Gruver. Later, she moved to Friona. She was a member of Saint Teresa's Catholic Church in Friona, the Catholic Daughters of Americas-Daughter of Hope No. 2567.
Mrs. Borunda was employed by Texas Boll Weevil, Mars Real Estate and Insurance and owned her own retail clothing business in Friona.
She was preceded in death by a nephew.
Survivors include her husband, Jesus Jose Borunda of Friona; two sons, Roland Herrera Jr. and wife Gloria of Denver and Matthew Ezekiel Borunda Sr. and wife Clarissa of Amarillo; two daughters, Regina Nicole Heredia-Williams and husband Bobby of Amarillo and Angelica Raquel Gonzales of Lubbock; her father, Felipe Guzman Jr. and wife Brenda of Grand Prairie; her mother, Estella M. Lopez of Amarillo; two sisters, Maria C. Grinie and husband Enrique of Pleasanton and Amanda Kyle and husband Dewayne of Round Rock; a brother, Felipe Guzman III and wife Samantha of Grand Prairie; 16 grandchildren; and three nephews.
