Joyce M. Taylor
BENBROOK -- Joyce M. Taylor, 61, an educator, businesswoman and homemaker, died Thursday, July 31, 1997, at her home after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at Western Hills United Methodist Church, 2820 Laredo Drive in Fort Worth. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Shannon-TCU Funeral Chapel.

Memorials: Western Hills United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Marilyn Joyce Taylor was born April 15, 1936, in Tampa, Fla., to Gladys and Carlyle L. Moore Sr. She graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1954. She married Earl A. Taylor of Tampa in 1956 and worked as a bookkeeper to help put her husband through college. She moved with her family to Fort Worth in 1966. She returned to school and received her bachelor's degree in special education from TCU in 1970. She taught special education for 12 years for the Fort Worth school district at Sam Rosen and Wycliff elementary schools. Joyce began J-Tex Computer Services in 1982 and in 1987 became the owner of The Book Shoppe on West Berry, which specializes in used and rare books.

She was a member of the Book Ladies' Club, a group of women involved in writing, publishing and selling books. She was a devoted member of Western Hills United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, served as an MYF sponsor and taught Sunday school. Joyce loved camping, singing, sewing, quilting, painting, rock-hounding, bird- watching and letter-writing. She was an avid camper and shared this love with her family, touring the United States and exploring the natural and historical wonders of this land.

Joyce was a loving wife and mother, a good friend and an honest and hardworking businesswoman. She will be sorely missed by her family, friends and customers.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carlyle L. Moore Sr., and her mother, Gladys Jenkins Moore.

Survivors: Her husband, Earl A. Taylor of Benbrook; daughter, Elaine R. Taylor of Fort Worth; son, Douglas E. Taylor of Arlington; and brother, Carlyle L. Moore Jr. of New York.

Rebecca H. Tijerina
FORT WORTH -- Rebecca Hernandez Tijerina, 70, a homemaker, died Friday, Aug. 1, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Rebecca Tijerina was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Lexington.

Grady Lee Toney
MIDLAND -- Grady Lee Toney, 66, a core sample technician, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997, at home.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Ellis Funeral Home. Visitation: Until noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials: Hospice of Midland.

Grady Toney, born Oct. 5, 1930, in Slaton, was reared and educated in Fort Worth. Mr. Toney served in the Army Air Corps. He also worked in the oil business in several Middle Eastern countries and in South America. He had been employed by Reservoirs, Inc., in Midland during his last years. Mr. Toney's body was donated to M.D. Anderson Hospital.

Survivors: Wife, Jaice Pickett Toney of Midland; daughters, Sharon Michaud of El Paso, Shelly Maroney-Ridgell of Midland and Sheila Broussard of Lake Charles, La.; mother, Hazel Dickerson of Fort Worth; brothers, Kenneth Toney and Morris Toney, both of Fort Worth; sister, Glenda Grier of Fort Worth; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Dorothy Mae Willis was born Sept. 23, 1931, in Fort Worth.

Marion Wimmer was born July 9, 1921, in Los Angeles, Calif. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, Diamond Oaks Country Club, Petroleum Club of Fort Worth and St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. She was married Jan. 21, 1945, and was married for 52 years. She was a graduate of the University of California-Los Angeles.

Survivors: Husband, Robert F. Wimmer of Haltom City; sons, Michael R. Wimmer of Albuquerque, N.M., Daniel B. Wimmer of Austin, Gary L. Wimmer of Copenhagen, Denmark, Gregory G. Wimmer of Grapevine, Terry F. Wimmer of Fort Worth, Rick W. Wimmer of Clifton and Pat J. Wimmer of Keller; sister, Catherine W. Real of Menlo Park, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.

STEPHENVILLE -- Doyle Wood, 76, a carpenter, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997, at home.

Mr. Wood was born May 29, 1921, in Plains, Kan. He was an Air Forces veteran of World War II. He was a Baptist and a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Iredell.

FORT WORTH -- Victor Harold Beatty, 64, a retired Wonder Bread supervisor, died Friday, Aug. 1, 1997, at home.

Victor Harold Beatty was born March 9, 1933, in Sioux City, Iowa. He married Mary Cosgrove Sept. 19, 1953 and moved to Texas in 1969. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was also considered an A-1 golfer.

Survivors: Wife, Mary Beatty of Fort Worth; daughters, Vickie Scammahorn of Redmond, Wash., Connie Siebert, Julie Havel and Molly Hughes, all of Fort Worth; mother, Leola Crapo of Omaha, Neb.; brother, Robert Beatty of Fort Worth; and grandchildren, Kylie, Nicole, Ashlie, Zac and Katlyn.

James Webster Brewer
EULESS -- James Webster Brewer, 79, a retired supervisor for Lone Star Gas Co., died Saturday, August 2, 1997, in Euless.

Funeral:11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: Starting at noon Monday.

Mr. Brewer was born to Reese and Viola Brewer on Dec. 5, 1917, in Arlington. He retired from Lone Star Gas Co. after 25 years of service and then worked for Hurst-Euless-Bedford schools for 10 years. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II.

He will be missed and loved.

Mr. Brewer was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. Brewer.

Survivors: Daughter, Pamela Sue Spears of Burleson; brother, Reese Brewer Jr. of Burleson; three sisters, Marie Patterson, Billie Cowling and Ima Lawler, all of Arlington; grandson, Bryon Lawson; granddaughter, Kathy Sanchez; two great-grandchildren, Jayson and Sabra; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie. Burial: 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Elmo Cemetery in Elmo. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mrs. Bruner's home.

Mildred Bruner was born Dec. 3, 1935, in Wichita Falls.

For 12 years, she served on the Democratic National Committee, and for eight years, she served on the State Democratic Executive Committee.

Leo Ceasar
FORT WORTH -- Leo Ceasar Sr., 91, a retired civil service electronics specialist, died Friday, August 1, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Burial: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at Baker Funeral Home. Wake: 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ceasar was born July 6, 1906, in Muldoon.

The son of Archie and Isabelle Mullen Ceasar, Leo was one of 13 children. He grew up and was educated in the public schools at Muldoon. He was inducted into the Army in 1942 and served his country honorably in Battles of Normandy and Northern France. Leo met Blanche Ree Ballard, and they married Dec. 24, 1935. They shared 52 years of loving devotion before her death.

Mr. Ceasar lived at Lexington, Ky. and worked for the Bluegrass Depot there until retirement from civil service. Returning to Fort Worth in 1970, he was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school scholar, member of the Prayer Band and head of the Food Pantry Ministry. He was a member of Rescue Lodge No. 20 and Prince Hall Masons. He served many years on The Board of Directors of The McDonald Branch YMCA. He was the leading fundraiser in the sustaining membership drive. He was a kind and friendly man. He was also a leader, motivator and dedicated Christian.

Survivors: Son, Leo Ceasar, Jr. and his wife, Carrie; foster son, Frank Pruitt and his wife, Brenda, both of Fort Worth; daughter, Mertha Lewis of Waco; nine grandchildren, Deshauna, Lachel, Leo III, Patricia, Billy, Gladys, Eric, Derrick, Krystal; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several generations of nephews, nieces, other family members and many friends.
