FORT WORTH -- Alta Viola Walker Banks, 99, a homemaker, died Friday, Aug. 1, 1997, in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Royse City. Interment : Royse City Cemetery. Harry Bell will officiate the service.
Alta Banks was born Oct. 1, 1898, in Royse City. After graduating from high school and attending Texas Christian University for one year, Alta married Herman Banks, a veteran of World War I. She was a lifelong homemaker except two years during World War II when she worked in a defense plant. She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Royse City and was faithful in her attendance there until she moved to Fort Worth in 1995 to be near her daughter.
Affectionately known as Big Mamma by her grandchildren and great- grandchildren and their friends, she touched each of them with a special love. That special love was not reserved, however, just for her grandchildren but shared unselfishly with whomever she met.
She was preceded in death by husband, Herman Banks, a sister and two brothers.
Survivors: Sister, Lula Walker Amis Fitzpatrick of Royse City and Fort Worth; daughters, Mary Anna Banks Franke and husband, Harold of College Station and Joy Banks Noel and husband, Kenneth of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew.

Kenneth W. Bilby
DALLAS -- Kenneth W. Bilby, 78, a retired executive vice president of Radio Corporation of America, died Friday, August 1, 1997, in Dallas.
Memorial service:2 p.m. Sunday at Perkins Chapel, Southern Methodist University. A second service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Apawamis Club in Rye, N.Y.

Mr. Bilby was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and he made his home both in Dallas and Greenwich, Conn., where he lived for 35 years. Before his retirement in 1984, Mr. Bilby served as an executive vice president of Radio Corporation of America for 22 years. Prior to that, he worked for NBC and Carl Byoir Advertising Associates in New York City. Upon his retirement, Mr. Bilby was appointed executive-in-residence and taught at the Harvard Business School for two years.
Mr. Bilby attended Columbia University and graduated with a bachelor of arts from the University of Arizona. During World War II, he served as lieutenant colonel in the 30th infantry division in fighting its way across France and Germany. He was awarded the Legion of Honor, Bronze Star and the Silver Star. Following the war, he was assigned to cover the Arab-Israeli war as a foreign correspondent for the New York Herald Tribune. He write a book about that experience called `New Star in the Near East.' He also authored a book tracing the rise of RCA and its founder, General David Sarnoff, called `The General.'
He was an avid sportsman who traveled worldwide.

Leo Ceasar
FORT WORTH -- Leo Ceasar Sr., 91, a retired civil service electronics specialist, died Friday, August 1, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Mr. Ceasar was born July 6, 1906, in Muldoon.
The son of Archie and Isabelle Mullen Ceasar, Leo was one of 13 children. He grew up and was educated in the public schools at Muldoon. He was inducted into the Army in 1942 and served his country honorably in Battles of Normandy and Northern France. Leo met Blanche Ree Ballard, and they married Dec. 24, 1935. They shared 52 years of loving devotion before her death.
Mr. Ceasar lived at Lexington, Ky. and worked for the Bluegrass Depot there until retirement from civil service. Returning to Fort Worth in 1970, he was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school scholar, member of the Prayer Band and head of the Food Pantry Ministry. He was a member of Rescue Lodge No. 20 and Prince Hall Masons. He served many years on The Board of Directors of The McDonald Branch YMCA. He was the leading fundraiser in the sustaining membership drive. He was a kind and friendly man. He was also a leader, motivator and dedicated Christian.
Survivors: Husband, Leo Ceasar, Jr. and his wife, Carrie; foster son, Frank Pruitt and his wife, Brenda, both of Fort Worth; daughter, Mertha Lewis of Waco; nine grandchildren, Deshauna, Lachel, Leo III, Patricia, Billy, Gladys, Eric, Derrick, Krystal; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several generations of nephews, nieces, other family members and many friends.

Mabry Joe Chester
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Mabry Joe Chester, 72, a retired insurance officer, died after a long battle with cancer Friday, Aug. 1, 1997, at an Arlington hospital.

Mabry Chester was born Dec. 10, 1924, to Mabry Glen and Josephine Dunn Chester at Nazareth Hospital in Mineral Wells. He attended school in Mineral Wells and graduated from the Kemper Military Institute. He went on to obtain his associates degree from Kemper Junior College, where he was class president. He also attended TCU in Fort Worth. He served in the Army during World War II.
During his work career, he worked for the Texas Theater in Dallas and Fort Walters in Mineral Wells. He retired after 20 years with World Service Life in Fort Worth in June, 1970, due to his failing eyesight. He was a longtime Baptist and former WSL Customer Service VP
He was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Mildred Little Chester, Aug. 19, 1988.

Clara Mae Clark was born to Nancy Elmina Wallace and William Jefferson Jarrett on May 10, 1915, in Cass County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Winifred Perry Clark, in 1984.
She was a faithful, loving wife and mother who loved the Lord and served Him through the children's ministry at South Fort Worth Baptist Church.

He was raised in Stamps, Ark. where he met and married Lillian Vickers.
Mr. Clower started in management with American National Life Insurance Co. in Texarkana, Texas and was promoted and moved to Garland in 1957. He was a son of a Methodist minister and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Roger Wesley Crampton
WICHITA FALLS -- Roger Wesley Crampton, 78, died Thursday, July 31, 1997, at home.
Memorial service:2 p.m. Monday at Owens-Brumley Funeral Home.

Mr. Crampton was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Hordville, Neb., and married Barbara Cook on Jan. 21, 1946, in Lexington, Neb. He was a 1942 graduate of the University of Nebraska with a bachelor of arts degree and received an LLB from the University of Texas School of Law in 1947. He was licensed by the State Bar of Texas in 1947.
During World War II, Mr. Crampton saw major fighting in Europe, the Pacific, including the Battle of the Bulge. He continued in the Reserve and the National Guard, serving in both the Artillery and the JAG and was called to active duty during the Cuban missile crisis. He began the practice of law in Wichita Falls in 1950. In 1951, he joined the law firm of Allen, Locke and Crampton; and in 1952, Allen, Crampton, Johnson & Purcell; in 1955, Roger W. Crampton, attorney at law, sole practitioner; 1958, Crampton & Crampton - he began a 29- year practice with his wife, Barbara. From 1967-1977, he was chief appellant attorney for Tarrant County.
Survivors: Wife, Barbara; his daughters, Holly Crampton, attorney, of Wichita Falls Nancy Crampton-Brophy, chef, of Portland, Ore.; and son, Mark Crampton, attorney, of Austin; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
