Joan Williams was born Sept. 21, 1919, in Danbury, Conn.
She had been a resident of Fort Worth since 1946. She served in the Navy during World War II as a chief pharmacist mate. She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and was a volunteer in many areas sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, including the Fort Worth Food Bank. She was honored in 1996 as Volunteer of the Year by the state of Texas of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors: Husband, Charles E. Williams Jr. of Fort Worth; sons, Charles E. Williams III of Flippen, Ark., and Michael F. Williams of Fort Worth; twin sister, Jean Flanagan of Worcester, Mass.; and grandchildren, Heather Williams, Megan Williams, Scott Williams and Christopher Williams.

Ora Jane "Pete" Wright
HALTOM CITY -- Ora Jane "Pete" Wright, 65, a retired Star-Telegram advertising supervisor, died Tuesday, July 29, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.
Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Ora Jane "Pete" Wright was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Rhome. She retired from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram after 42 years' service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis H. Wright.
Survivors: Daughter, Jean Ann Wright of Haltom City; sister and brother-in-law, Imogene and H.L. Hackworth of Haltom City; cousin, Jim W. West and his wife, Sue, of Bowie; one niece; one nephew; one grandniece; one great-grandnephew; and many cousins.

Gladys Beatrice Patton Alexander was born Dec. 26, 1906, in Grand Saline. She was a longtime resident of Grand Saline and Fort Worth. She was a member of South Hills Baptist Church and Sunday school and attended regularly under her illness.
She was employed by Williamson- Dickie, Leonard's, Weir Manufacturing Co. and Tandy. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, gardening, fishing and traveling.
Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Sam N. Alexander, in August 1976; granddaughter, Deborah Sue Farmer in January 1994; brother, Mancy Coffman; and sister, Lillie Coffman Guthrie.
A special thank-you to all friends, neighbors and care-givers who helped in her wandering days by helping bring her back home and helping keep her safe. I sincerely appreciate each of you.

Larry Wayne Allgood
STRATFORD -- Larry Wayne Allgood, 26, a mill hand, died Tuesday, July 29, 1997, in Stratford, Texas.
Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.
Larry Allgood was born Jan. 21, 1971, in Denison.
He died as a result of an accident while working at Walter Lasley & Sons Cattle Feeders in Stratford.

William B. Anderson Sr.
LAKE FOREST, Calif. -- William B. Anderson Sr., 64, died Monday, July 21, 1997, of injuries suffered in an auto accident.
Memorial service: 3 p.m. Saturday at Hughes Funeral Home North Chapel in Dallas, Texas. Burial: Mr. Anderson was laid to rest beside his loving wife in Eugene, Ore., on July 26.
William B. Anderson Sr. was born March 21, 1933, in Fort Worth to Orval B. and Willie Florence Slocum Anderson. He married Carolyn Faye Manda in Dallas on Dec. 31, 1954. She died Feb. 25, 1984.
Mr. Anderson attended Texas Technological University, where he studied architectural design. He served in the Army. Mr. Anderson worked as a firefighter and for a neon sign company in Lubbock and Eugene.
He lived in Dallas until 1960, then in Lubbock until 1968, when he moved to Eugene. Two years ago, he moved to California.
His hobbies included classic cars, hunting, fishing, music and antiques.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kristen Coen and Tanner Anderson.
Survivors: Daughters, Cynthia Fernandez of Irving, Patty Averett of Corpus Christi and Kathy Nerseth of Tucson, Ariz.; son, Billy Anderson Jr. of Eugene; sisters, Carylon Gardner of Garland and Norma Fish and Linda Cooper, both of Dallas; brother, Richard Anderson of Plano; and eight grandchildren.

VAN -- Richard Vining Bates, 70, a retired accountant for Lone Star Corp., died Wednesday, July 30, 1997, in Tyler.

Richard Vining Bates was born July 1, 1927, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was a veteran of the Navy. He served on the board of directors for the Van Chamber of Commerce and the board of Manna, Inc., of Van Zandt County. He also served on the Van City Council and was a member of the Van Kiwanis Club, the Van Historical Museum and was a director of St. Stephens. He was formerly of Dallas and had lived in Van since 1990.
Survivors: Wife, Barbara Bragg Bates of Van; sons, Richard V. Bates Jr. and Patrick Bates, both of Fort Worth, and Robert Walters and Randall Walters, both of Dallas; brother, John Paul Bates of Midland; and six grandchildren.

Helen Bonifert was born Dec. 20, 1913, in Sombor, Yugoslavia. A strong, well-spoken woman, she evoked respetct and admiration in those who knew her. She had a passion for life and a flair for beauty; these gifts revealed themselves in her paintings and in her award- winning flower gardens. A loving mother, wife and grandmother, she gave of herself daily, saying only how lucky she was to have such a loving family.
Helen was an active member in the St. Maria Goretti Leisure Club. She was always helping others, concerned that those who were less fortunate enjoy life's simple necessities.
She saw God in everything that is beautiful; she loved walking beneath the trees and mountains with her family.
Helen was originally from Chicago. She has family and friends still in the Chicago area.
Survivors: Husband, John Bonifert; son and his wife, Denis and Judy Bonifert; daughter, Diana Vincenti; grandchildren, Michael, Laura, Christine, Suzanne and David; cousin, Marion Berceli; and her sister-in-law, Margaret Berninger, and her husband, John.

Grover L. Brister was born July 23, 1926, in Leonard. He was a Korean War veteran and received the Purple Heart.

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Irene Garner Dennis, 85, a retired assembly worker, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 1997, at a North Richland Hills care center from Alzheimers disease.

Irene Dennis was born May 1, 1912, in Rochester, Texas. She married Noah Dennis on Aug. 28, 1930, in Spur, Texas. She was a member of the Assemblies of God. She retired from General Dynamics in 1973.
She resided in Azle for 40 years. She lived in Granbury for seven years before moving to Bedford in 1989.
She enjoyed traveling to Colorado on hunting and fishing trips with her husband. She loved cooking and baking. Her grandsons will always remember her for her buckwheat pancakes. She was known for her sweet smile and sparkling brown eyes. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Irene Dennis was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Dennis, in 1984. They had been married 54 years.
