Ray Andrew Duncan

Ray Andrew Duncan, 87, of Highlands, Texas went to be with the Lord on February 25, 2009.

Ray was born on August 7, 1921 in Pelle, Texas to Jesse and Sarah (Teer) Duncan. Ray honorably served his country During WWII and then shortly after the war helped with the explosion in Texas City. Ray then went to work for Exxon and retired from there in 1977. In his spare time he enjoyed collecting coins, playing dominoes, playing checkers, watching the Dallas Cowboys play and most of all spending time with his family. Ray was a very devoted family man who was very kind and caring, and he will be missed by all that knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Sarah Duncan, brother Eldon Duncan, sister Thelma Phillips, brother Roy Duncan and brother Archie Duncan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Rachel Duncan, son Craig Duncan and wife Charlotte, daughter Carmen Martin and husband Vance, grandson Joel Duncan and wife Melissa, granddaughter Elise Hurd and husband Jason, grandson Jeremy Duncan, granddaughter Michelle Duncan, granddaughter Rachel Duncan, grandson Stephen Duncan, granddaughter Aleya Duncan, granddaughter Shannon Duncan, granddaughter Claire Duncan, grandson Kristofer Martin, grandson Dustin Martin, granddaughter Carli Martin, great granddaughter Selah Duncan and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, March 2, 2009 from 12-2pm at Sterling-White. Funeral services will be held Monday March 2, 2009 2pm at Sterling-White Funeral Home with burial following at Sterling-White Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Ray’s memory to the Benevolence fund at Alliance Bible Church 302 West Cedar Bayou Lynchburg Rd. Baytown, Texas 77521.

Services have been entrusted to Sterling-white Funeral Home 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd. Highlands, Texas 77562.

Frank B. McCune

Frank B. McCune, 85, of Baytown, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009, at a local rehabilitation center. He was born on January 11, 1924, to Joe McCune and Annie Scott McCune. Mr. McCune was a rice farmer until he joined Pipefitters Union Local 211. He retired as a supervisor in pipefitting in 1986. He was also a Mason, a member of the Cedar Bayou Lodge and a Shriner.

Preceded in death by his wife, Betty McCune; brothers, J. D. and Joe Gates McCune; Mr. McCune is survived by two daughters, Frances Smith Urdiales and husband, Louis, of Liverpool, TX and Donna Miller of Brookshire, TX; one grandson, Don Douglas Smith; three nephews, Patrick, Joe M., and James D. McCune; two nieces, Iris Powers and Sandra McCune; and numerous friends who also loved him.

The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 4 – 6 p.m. at Crespo & Jirrels. A graveside service will be held at Tilton Family Cemetery on Monday, March 2, 2009, at 3 p.m., with Rev. Leroy Stevens officiating.

Lisa D. Guy

Lisa D. Guy, 41, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, following a sudden illness. Born in Baytown on November 20, 1967, she attended Goose Creek schools, graduating from Ross S. Sterling High School in 1986, where she was a twirler. Lisa earned her accounting degree from the University of Texas and was a certified public accountant. She served GCCISD as their business manager and later became an auditor for Pasadena ISD, was involved with Region IV, and taught accounting at Lee College. She was also a longtime, active member of Texas Association of School Board Officials. Lisa loved the Lord and her church family, and was an active member of First Baptist Church. She also held positions on the board of directors of the YMCA, and was heavily involved in PTSO and numerous other committees at Stephen F. Austin Elementary and Cedar Bayou Junior School, where her two oldest daughters attend. Lisa was also a charter member of the Beta Lambda Kappa chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. But the center of her universe was her family, especially her husband and children, to whom she devoted her life.

Lisa was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Alma Jeannette and Jeff Ward, and Clotile Wilkerson. Her loving family includes her husband, Gary; her three precious daughters, Allie, Katie, and Zoe; her parents, Dennis and Jeannette Wilkerson, of Anahuac; grandfather, Glyn Wilkerson and wife, Helen; parents-in-law, Marvin and Carol Guy, of Baytown; brother in-law Kevin Guy and wife, Jana; nephews, Oliver and Willie Guy; and many special friends and associates too numerous to mention.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home. A celebration of Lisa’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 2, 2009, at First Baptist Church, 505 Rollingbrook, with Pastor Bill Yowell and Mark Stafford, officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.

Lisa epitomized life, love and friendship, and in that spirit has left the greatest legacy of all by becoming a tissue donor to benefit others in need.

Mr. Frank Sanders

Mr. Frank Sanders, 93, passed away February 20, 2009 surrounded by his family. He was born in Richards, Texas on April 10, 1915. He lived in Baytown for more than sixty years.

He was a member of the singing group-The Traveling Echoes. A founder of the Lone Star Fellowship. President of the Walnut Ridge Cemetery Rally.

A long time member of Washington Chapel Baptist Church where he serve on the Usher Board as a member and president for many years. An Ordained Deacon for more than fifty years and a devoted member of the Usher’s Fellowship Candle Light March. He was also a founding member of the of the past Usher’s Fellowship that formerly convened each first Sunday of the month. He was a former supervisor of Exxon where he was employed for thirty plus years, retiring in 1980.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Rev. Jim and Bertha Sanders one daughter, Luella Sanders and five siblings.

He leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Frankie Mae Thomas (Earnest) of Baytown, step-daughter: Cynthia Merchant of Houston, Tx. Step-son: Thomas Ed Merchant of Bedias, Tx. Brother: Marvin Sanders Sr. (Mae Eula) of Navasota, Tx. Sister: Bertha Mae Barrett of Barrett Station, Tx. Sister-in-law: Earlie Mae Sanders of Baytown. Grandchildren: Karyn and Ben Thomas of Baytown. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral Services will begin on February 28, 2009 with visitation 10:00-11:00am. Funeral Services at 11:00am at Unity Baptist Church, 2625 Broad St., Baytown, Tx. Rev. Andrew Sanders officiating and Bishop Earl Alexander, Pastor of Washington Chapel delivering the eulogy.

Interment: Warner Ridge Cemetery in Richards, Texas.

Georgia Ann Smesny

Georgia Ann Smesny 79, of Crosby, Texas went to be with the Lord on February 24, 2009. Georgia was born on September 8, 1929 in Crosby Texas to Robert and Rose (Haluska) Janek.

Georgia has been a life long resident of Crosby and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Before she retired, Georgia was a Vice President of Crosby State Bank and a volunteer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School. After retirement, she became a full time volunteer for several organizations in Crosby and helped run Churches United in Caring. When Georgia wasn’t busy volunteering, she enjoyed gambling, traveling and spending time with her family. Georgia was a very professional, loving and caring woman who will be missed by all that knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Rose Janek and loving husband of 48 years, Raymond Smesny.

She is survived by her son Mickey Smesny and wife Lanell, son Steven Smesny and wife MeLinda, brother Floyd Janek and wife Jan, sister Rowena Anderson and husband Alvin, granddaughter Joy Nierode and husband Mark, granddaughter Meredith Feng and husband Nick, granddaughter Tara Smesny, grandson Kyle Smesny and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, February 27, 2009 from 5-8pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a rosary 7pm. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial following at Sterling-White Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Georgia’s memory to Sacred Heart Catholic School.

Services have been entrusted to Sterling-White Funeral Home 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd. Highlands, Texas.
