Esther Lois Ball was born March 22, 1911, in Dike, Hopkins County, and had been a resident of Garland for seven years. She was a Methodist.
She was devoted to her family.
Esther Lois Ball was preceded in death by her only son, Billy E. Ball, and her daughter-in-law, Shirley J. Ball, both in 1993.
Survivors: Sisters, Ruby Kutscherousky of Garland, and Mickey Abel of Arlington; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Lillie Mae Barber
FORT WORTH -- Lillie Mae Barber, 103, a retired cook, died Thursday, July 17, 1997, at home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church. Burial: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. Monday.
Lillie Mae Barber was born June 20, 1894, in Elgin.
She was the daughter of Peter Williams Miller and his wife, Priscilla Eagles Miller. She grew up in Bastrop County and attended Miller's School there. Early in life, she was converted, baptized and united with Mount Vernon African Methodist Episcopal Church. She married Arthur Mack Barber in 1937, and they came to Fort Worth and settled the next year. Mrs. Barber worked as a cook from age 12, and was employed at several hospitals and private residences until age 72. She remained in remarkable physical condition, and had washed and hung up her own clothes to dry the morning of her death. She was a loyal stewardess at St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church here, having united under the late Rev. R. T. Jenkins. She served in the choir and Womens Missionary Society and taught Sunday School. She also enjoyed cooking for the Children of the Church. Mrs. Barber was also a member of The Eastern Star.
Survivors: Son, Charles Campbell and his wife, Geraldine of San Antonio; sister, Mamie Fowler of Compton, Calif.; grandchildren, Ethel, Bobbie and Charlie Campbell of San Antonio; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and her very dear friends, Cheryl McLean, Mary Wheat, Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Smith and many others.

COLLEYVILLE -- Douglas A. Blemings, 66, a retired Air Force major, died Friday, July 18, 1997, at a Euless hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Douglas Blemings was born Dec. 17, 1930, in Newark, N.J. He entered the Air Force in 1951 and graduated from pilot training in 1955 (Class of 55K) and served 21 years flying transport aircraft worldwide through three wars.
Upon his retirement, he worked in the lighting industry in North Texas. He served on the Colleyville City Council and did extensive volunteer work for Care Corps and other civic projects. He was a member of St. Vincent's Episcopal Church.

Dorothea Brand was born July 17, 1916, in Cleburne, where she was a lifetime resident. She was a member of Field St. Baptist Church. She married Thomas E. Brand Jr. Oct. 4, 1933, in Glen Rose. He preceded her in death Sept. 5, 1989. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Florrie Prescher, her parents and a sister, Onettia Adkins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Alice R. Daniels on May 3, 1990; his oldest son, Logan B. Daniels on July 22, 1952, and Joe G. Daniels on March 11, 1979.

Winnie Davis was born May 4, 1908, in McCally. She was a member of Calvary Temple in Irving and a resident of Denison from 1932 to 1984. In 1984, she moved to Fort Worth. She will be missed by her beloved family and friends. She is a rose that continues to give beauty and meaning to our lives even as she leaves this world and reaches out and embraces her new life with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H., in 1974, sons, Claud and Billy Gene and a daughter, Norma Faye.
