HURST -- Ray D. Burgett, 71, a retired Bell Helicopter employee, died Thursday, July 10, 1997, at home.

Ray Burgett was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Ashland, Ky., and had lived in Hurst since 1963. He served his country for 20 years in the Army Air Forces, Air Force and Army Material Command. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He retired from Bell Helicopter in 1987.
Mr. Burgett was a member of Richland Hills Christian Church, where he served as deacon, elder and two terms as chairman of the board.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jo-Ellen, of Hurst.

FORT WORTH -- Edred Newton Everett, 86, a retired USDA Soil Conservation Service engineer, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, at a hospital in California.
Funeral: none planned. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Everett, a beloved father and grandfather and a resident of Fort Worth for 33 years, passed away July 8 after having had surgery on June 20. He was born to Louise Mayle and James Newton Everett on Aug. 3, 1910, in Pacific, Mo. He graduated from high school in Pacific before attending Central College and Missouri School of Mines, where he graduated with a civil engineering degree in 1933. He retired from the USDA Soil Conservation Service in 1977 after 42-plus years of service.
He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was a Texas-registered professional engineer.
Mr. Everett was preceded in death by his wife of 67-plus years, Mary, in 1995.
Survivors: Son, Roger Everett of Livermore, Calif.; daughter, Karen Preston of Durango, Colo.; sister, Gwyneth Darling of Jefferson City, Mo.; and grandchildren, Julie Everett of Danville, Calif., Jill Hornbeck of Livermore, and Nicholas Preston and Amanda Preston, both of Durango.
