ARLINGTON -- Margaret Ann Shilling, 56, a homemaker, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 29, 1997, in Arlington after courageously battling Lou Gehrig's disease for 21/2 years.
Memorial service: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pantego Bible Church. Burial: Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Margaret Shilling was born Oct. 25, 1940, in Austin. She graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1958 and attended Texas Christian University. In 1960, she married Gordon Shilling and they moved to Arlington to begin their home, family and career. She had been a member of Pantego Bible Church since 1961. She worked as a church secretary, served in the nursery and was a leader in the Senior Adult Ministry where she enjoyed planning special events and field trips.
Margaret waited until her youngest child graduated from high school in 1991 before returning to college. In May of 1995, she received her degree as a Dietetic Technician from TCJC. She was looking forward to a promising future in Dietetics when she was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and her health prevented her from pursuing those dreams. She was faithful to her family and friends. She was a true example of being a blessing to other people and giving of herself sacrificially. Her life was a living testimony of always thinking of others as being more important than herself. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend.
Survivors: Husband of 36 years, Gordon Shilling of Arlington; sons, Steve Shilling of Irving and Nathan Shilling of Houston; daughter, Lea Ann Shilling of Arlington; parents, Merle and Nell Bell of Fort Worth; sister, Patricia Brown of Granbury; brother, William Bell of Southlake; nephew, Aaron Brown of Lubbock; niece, Julie Lowe of Littlefield; and great-niece, Tatum Margaret Lowe.

Alma Beatrice Massey Snowden was born Sept. 18, 1905, in Poolville and was a native of Parker County. She resided in Spearman for 18 years and returned to Parker County in 1965. She was a gardener and raised beautiful flowers and bountiful vegetable gardens. She was a member of the Gibtown Baptist Church for many years.

In addition, she was a former Alumna of the Year at Texas Wesleyan University and a member of the Women of Rotary.

Fredrick von Gonten was born Aug. 13, 1906, in Sapulpa.
He was a resident of Fort Worth since 1992 and retired from Oklahoma Gas and Electric in 1971 as chief electrician of the central division in Sapulpa. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sapulpa and a former member of the Sapulpa Lions Club. He was an avid bowler and gardener.
