Mrs. Elliott was born July 21, 1913, in Decatur to William David and Sarah Delaney Henderson Hicks. She married Richard L. Elliott Sr. Dec. 4, 1936, in Fort Worth. Mr. Elliott preceded her in death on April 28, 1979. Mrs. Elliott lived in Saginaw more than 50 years, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors: Son, Richard Elliott of Big Spring; daughter, Addie Delane Sadberry of Alexandria, Va.; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

FORT WORTH -- Frederick von Gonten, 90, a retired chief electrician, died Thursday, June 26, 1997, at a local nursing center.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Biggers Funeral Home. Burial: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sapulpa Cemetery in Sapulpa, Okla.
Frederick von Gonten was born Aug. 13, 1906, in Sapulpa.
He was a resident of Fort Worth since 1992 and retired from Oklahoma Gas and Electric in 1971 as chief electrician of the central division in Sapulpa. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sapulpa and a former member of the Sapulpa Lions Club. He was an avid bowler and gardener.
Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law, Gerald D. "Jerry" and Rethal von Gonten, of Joplin, Mo.; sister, Elizabeth Piatt of Tulsa; brother, Louis von Gonten of Jersey Village, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary von Gonten of Tulsa; nine grandchildren, 19 great- grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Born in Sumter, S.C., he had been a resident of Lake Placid for the past year, moving from Coral Springs, Fla. He was a Methodist.

Evelyn L. Pitman Gurley
BURLESON -- Evelyn L. Pitman Gurley, 77, died Saturday, June 28, 1997, in Fort Worth after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Gurley was born June 24, 1920, in Dawson County and attended school in Klondike. She later attended beauty school in Dallas and worked there. She married A.P. "Chunk" Gurley in Lovington, N.M., Feb. 12, 1952, and moved to Post at that time. She opened Evelyn's Beauty Shop and operated it until moving to Burleson, at which time she retired.
She was very active in the Trinity Baptist Church, where she was a member and the pianist. She played and sang for all occasions and also the Trail Blazers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jan. 13, 1976, and by a sister, Bonnie Applegate, March 1997.
Survivors: Daughter, Paula Tallent of Burleson; one grandson; and one great- granddaughter.
