FORT WORTH -- Jerry N. Faries, 54, a supervisor, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jerry Faries was born June 4, 1943, in Coleman, Texas. He lived in the Fort Worth area since 1966. He retired from General Dynamics in 1991 after 12 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Survivors: Wife, Patricia Faries of Fort Worth; sons, Edward Segovia of Honolulu, Hawaii, Chris Donovan of Newport News, Va., and James Donovan and Jerry W. Faries, both of Fort Worth; daughters, Terry Faries Matherly and Angie Donovan, both of Fort Worth; brothers, Glenn Faries of Coleman and David Faries of Dublin, Texas; sister, Bessie Pennington of Brownwood; and six grandsons.

Alex Daniel Goolsby
ARLINGTON -- Alex Daniel Goolsby, 23, a student, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, in Austin.

Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Moore Funeral Home. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Alex Daniel Goolsby was born Nov. 13, 1973, in Fort Worth.

He was a graduate of Martin High School and UT-Austin where he graduated with honors in German and history. In the spring of 1995, he was in the Normandy Scholar Program where he received a full scholarship for his in-depth study of World War II.

Mr. Goolsby had lived, studied and taught in Europe.

Survivors: Parents, Roger and Hannah Goolsby of Arlington; sister, Jennifer Goolsby of Arlington; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan D. DeKonty and Mr. and Mrs. Merrell Goolsby; great- grandmother, Mrs. Lucille Ely; and numerous family and friends.

Mazie Irene Hoaldridge
FORT WORTH -- Mazie Irene Hoaldridge, 89, a homemaker, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, at a local hospital.

Graveside service: 10 a..m. Saturday in Rendon Cemetery. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Burleson.

Mazie Irene Hoaldridge was born Dec. 4, 1907.

She was a lifelong resident of the Tarrant County area and a Baptist. She was an avid Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys fan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reagan Hoaldridge, in 1984.

Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sylvia Hoaldridge of Fort Worth; one niece; and one nephew.

Aileen Landry
FORT WORTH -- Aileen Landry, 76, a retired schoolteacher, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Aileen Landry was born Sept. 3, 1920, in Slagle, La.

Mrs. Landry was a second grade teacher more than 20 years and taught at Ridglea Hills Elementary and Como Elementary schools. She was a member of Westcliff United Methodist Church.

Her life was devoted to her grandchildren who named her "Mom-mar." She eventually became known to all her friends as "Mom-mar."

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jackson Landry, in 1962.

Survivors: Daughters, Aileen McGrath and her husband, Terry, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Michael McGrath and his wife, Sherry, of Annetta, Tommy McGrath of Dallas, Gary Bryant McGrath of Fort Worth; great-grandson, Danny Kuhn of Annetta; and numerous nieces and nephews.

J.T. Ligon
ARLINGTON -- J.T. "Tom" Ligon, 81, a retired telephone company supervisor, died Tuesday, June 24, 1997, at an Arlington hospital.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.

Memorials: American Lung Association, Union Gospel Mission, Salvation Army or a charity of choice.

James Ligon was born Dec. 17, 1915, in Fort Worth, a fourth generation Fort Worthian and great-grandson of Colonel Abe Harris, who served under General Worth. His love for horses led him to enlist in the Cavalry Division of the National Guard in the late 1930s. He was also a Mason and an Elk. James retired as supervisor with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Yellow Pages division after 391/2 years. He received the Distinguished Salesman Award and was top salesman for three years. After retiring from the telephone company, he and a partner saw a need for providing Georgetown, Texas, residents with safe and clean water and opened the Water Carry Out Store.

He will be remembered by family and friends for his love of life, his wonderful sense of humor, his culinary prowess and his "Pearls of Wisdom."

Survivors: Son, James T. Ligon Jr. and his wife, Phyllis, of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; daughters, Yvonne Shipman and her husband, John, and Linda Ligon, all of Grand Prairie, and Sharon L. Moore of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Melinda Barnes, Christy Barnes, Jay Moore, Martha Moore, James T. Ligon III and Jean-Paul Ligon; great- grandchildren, Seth and Sheridan Moore, Jason Tyler and Zachary Thomas Ligon; and nephew, Lynn Ligon.

Lillie Mae Lovett
RICHLAND HILLS -- Lillie Mae Lovett, 74, a credit manager, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, at a North Richland Hills hospital.

Lillie Lovett was born May 24, 1923, in Weatherford.

She lived most of her life in Fort Worth. She was employed with Mac Churchill, formerly Bill McDavid, for more than 30 years. She was an active member and current treasurer of the Fort Worth Women's Credit Union. She was a member of Birdville Baptist Church.

Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Lisa Lovett of Midlothian; brother, Glenn Keith of Fort Worth; sister, Lois Bruton of Caddo; and granddaughter, Tina.

D.C. Melear Jr.
WHITE SANDS, N.M. -- D.C. "Jack" Melear Jr., 79, died Monday, June 23, 1997, in White Sands.

Cryptside service: 10 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Mausoleum.

D.C. Melear Jr. was born March 18, 1918, in Arlington.

He died in White Sands under the care of his loving daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Royar.

He was a member of East Meadows Baptist Church in Fort Worth. He was a 50-year member of Poly Masonic Lodge 925 and received his 50-year Masonic pin in 1995. He was a lifetime member of the Fort Worth Downtown Lions Club.

Survivors, other family members include: Grandsons, Garry Hargis of Augusta, Ga., Brian Hargis of Grovetown, Ga., John Royar Jr. and Paul Royar, both of White Sands, N.M.; granddaughter, Mindy Royar of White Sands, N.M.; and two great-grandsons.

Roy E. Michener Jr.
FORT WORTH -- Roy E. Michener Jr., 74, a businessman, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, at his residence.

Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Richland Hills Church of Christ. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.

Memorials: the family has asked that memorials be sent to Fort Worth Christian School, 7517 Bogart Dr., Fort Worth, Texas 76180 or Christ Haven Home for Children, P.O. Box 467, Keller, Texas 76244-0467. Roy E. Michener Jr. was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Tulsa, Okla. He had been a resident of Fort Worth for 66 years. He was the owner of a local detergent manufacturing company. He was formerly a partner of Michener Oil Company with his brother, John Michener Sr., for more than 35 years.

In 1943, he married Geneva Marie Helton. They were devoted to each other in marriage for 54 years.

Mr. Michener was instrumental in helping to establish the Fort Worth Christian School in 1958. He served as a charter board member and diligently worked to make Fort Worth Christian School a reality. He was a member of the FWC school board of trustees for 20 years. He and his wife, Geneva, were recently honored at the school's annual fund raising dinner with a distinguished award for their years of service. He touched the lives of many students through his ministry at Fort Worth Christian School.

He was a member of Richland Hills Church of Christ for 40 years, where he served as an elder for 29 years. He was a dedicated leader, teacher and counselor while worshipping there.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy E. Michener Sr.; his mother, Lucille Michener; and his brother, John Michener.

Roy will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Survivors: Wife, Geneva Michener of Fort Worth; sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Kathy Michener of Colleyville, Royce and Carolyn Michener of Richland Hills and Paul and Victoria Michener of North Richland Hills; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and J.A. Davis of North Richland Hills; stepmother, Cecille Michener of Mansfield; brothers, Harvey Michener of Fort Worth and David Michener of Mansfield; sister, Clare and Bettie Noss of Wenatchee, Wash.; grandchildren, Christi, Dirk, Tammi, Holli, Donna Jo, Eric, David, Katherine, Jennifer Michener and Beverly and Elizabeth Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Beverly Naugle
FORT WORTH -- Beverly Naugle, 69, a homemaker, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, at an Arlington hospital.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at Meadowbrook United Methodist Church. Burial: Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers: Robert Moore, Stephen Hardaway, Steve Poole, Mike Francis, Phil King and Howard Bargsley.

Honorary pallbearers: W.F. McCarver, Gordon Simpson, Jim Pratt, Nelson Mitchell, Johnny Smith, Larry Morrell, Eugene Fowlkes, Duff Massey, Ben Crocker and Frank Benton.

Beverly Naugle was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Fort Worth.

Beverly worked at the Fort Worth Star- Telegram before her marriage in 1948 to Dave Naugle, a broadcaster. They had two sons, and after the first child was born she worked at the `Star-Telegram the first four days of every month.

She was a member of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church and the Meadowbrook Womans Club and was head of the nursery and kindergarten department at the church. She was a member of the Upper Room Class and was co- superintendent of the church high school department for two years. She was a member of the PTA Super Chicks and was a coordinator of Meals On Wheels.

She was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W.B. and Marjorie Chambers, who owned Chambers Drug Store in Poly.

Survivors: Husband of 49 years, Dave Naugle of Fort Worth; sons and daughter-in-law, David K. Jr. and Deemie Naugle of Duncanville and Mark Naugle of Fort Worth; brother and sister- in-law, W. Bruce and Anilee Chambers of Plano; granddaughter, Courtney Shwadlenak; uncle, Edward Chambers of Plano; and nephew, Brent Chambers of Plano.
