Her parents, Floyd and Annie Hopkins, moved the family to Honeygrove, Texas, where Mary Ann graduated from high school. After moving to Fort Worth in the early 50s, she married Sgt. Bill Olsen, USAF. Over the course of the next 20 years, though constantly on the move from Hawaii to San Antonio to Maryland to Greece and back to San Antonio, she managed to lovingly and patiently raise four children. Finally arriving in Euless, Texas, Mary Ann asserted herself, operating her own catering business and flower shop. During this time she married Jim Cox, a man she was entirely devoted to. She and Jim moved to a lakeside house in East Texas, where she spent her final years in quiet happiness.
Mary Ann was a rock, and all of our burdens were her burdens. She touched the lives of many good people and our sense of loss is acute. She was truly a good person.
Mary Ann was preceded on her journey by her parents and two brothers, Mack and Buddy Hopkins.
