John T. Shamblin Jr.
FORT WORTH -- John T. Shamblin Jr., 67, passed away Sunday, June 22, 1997, in Fort Worth.
Memorial service: private. Celebration of life: pending.

John T. Shamblin Jr. was born to Damie Elnora Reedy and John T. Shamblin Sr. on July 25, 1929, in Dallas. When he was 9, the family moved to Austin, where he graduated from Austin High School in January 1947. After matriculating at the university that fall, he enlisted in the Army and served one year at Fort Hood. After rejoining civilian life, he was recalled to active duty with the 780th Field Artillery Battalion and served in Korea until November 1951.
In March 1953, he and Ms. Carlos Fay Hackfeld were married in McGregor. In 1954, he resumed his education at SMU and graduated in 1959. Jan. 30, 1961, saw the birth of James Michael Shamblin.
His working career consisted of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., the Talley Corp. and Evans Press and its successors. He retired in 1992.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Kenneth David Shamblin.
Survivors: His mother, 94 years; his wife; a son; a 2-year-old grandson, Cody Ty Shamblin of Nolan; brother, Dr. H. Wayne Shamblin and his family of Mesquite; and sister, Julie Johnson of Las Vegas, Nev.

Louise Southerlan was born Oct. 2, 1910, in Bowie. She was a member of Handley United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin H. Southerlan, and her son, Robert E. Southerlan.

FORT WORTH -- William Edward Stegall Sr., 80, a retired Southwestern Bell repairman, died Monday, June 23, 1997, in Fort Worth.

William Edward Stegall Sr. was born Feb. 9, 1917, in Abilene to W.E. and Iva Julian Davis Stegall. He was a longtime resident of Fort Worth and a member of Rosen Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Stegall graduated from North Side High School and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co.
