Doyle Smith was born Oct. 29, 1914, in Bowie County. He had also lived in Alvarado.

Survivors: Wife, Ruby Smith of New Boston; daughter and son-in-law, Mickey and James Odle of Alvarado; one brother and two sisters; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

AZLE -- Helen Pappas Sorensen, 68, a restaurant waitress, died Saturday, June 21, 1997, at home.

Funeral: 3 p.m. Monday at White's Funeral Home of Azle. Burial: Azleland Cemetery in Reno, Texas. Visitation: 8 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Helen Pappas Sorensen was born Sept. 20, 1928, in Fort Worth. She had been an area resident since 1997, prior to that she lived in Oakhurst, Calif. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and one brother, Ted Pappas Jr. of Malone.

Survivors: Husband, Robert A. Sorensen of Azle; daughter, Deborah Jan Sorensen of Fresno, Calif.; grandson, Matthew Waller of Fresno, Calif.; brother, Tony Pappas of Azle; sisters, Chris Kundysek, Lou Woolsey, Stella McCandlies and Alice Miller, all of Azle, Irene Moulton of Perryton and Sophia Garbin of Garden Grove, Calif.

Norman Spain was born Jan. 31, 1912, in Ellis County.

Survivors: Wife of 57 years, Minnie Spain; sisters, Lois Fyke, Dorothy Parr and Imogene Clark; and a number of nieces and nephews.

ARLINGTON -- "Dusty" Sim Thomas Thompson, 43, a co- owner of Costumes By Dusty, died Friday, June 20, 1997, at home as a result of heart failure.

Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home. Burial: Parkdale Cemetery. Visitation: 4 p.m. Monday.

Sim Thomas Thompson was born Nov. 15, 1953, in Cameron. He was an Arlington High School and UTA graduate. He was a member of the TAFTP and the TETA. He was an active supporter of school, community and professional theater. He was active in Scarborough Faire. He created numerous schools' and businesses' mascots.

Survivors: Brother, Cliff Thompson of Arlington; sisters, Paula Johnson and Louise Neilson, both of Arlington; nephews, Tony Neilson of Flower Mound and Roger Neilson of Arlington. great-niece, Kaytie Neilson of Flower Mound; and great-nephew, Nicholas Neilson of Flower Mound.

FORT WORTH -- Dorothy Milner Truly, 86, a retired journalist, died Sunday, June 22, 1997, at home.

Graveside service: 11 a.m. Tuesday in New Hope Cemetery in Henrietta.

Dorothy Truly was born August 13, 1910, in Bosque County.

She was a graduate of Texas Woman's University and a member of First Christian Church in Henrietta. She was the widow of Tom Truly.

Mrs. Truly retired from the `Dallas Morning News' in 1973.

Survivors: Son, John Patrick Truly and his wife, Ruthanna of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Christie Truly and her husband, Jim Mosher of Madison, Wis.; and sister, Mary Nell Roderick of Hendersonville, N.C.

Survivors: Mother, Gladys Warren of Keller; girlfriend, Pat Miner of Fort Worth; sons, Ty Jason Warren of Mabank and Joshua Warren of Keller; daughter, Larisa Warren of Keller; and sister, Carole Williams of Keller.

Alva Bingham was born Aug. 27, 1929, in Durant, Okla. Mrs. Bingham was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Benbrook.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William B. Anders.

AZLE -- Edward S. "Big Ed" Brownlee, 59, a retired millwright, died Sunday, June 22, 1997, at his residence.

Memorial service: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Biggers Funeral Home.

Mr. Brownlee was born April 26, 1938, in Gorman. He served in the Air Force from 1955 to 1959, mostly in Hawaii, and had lived in the Fort Worth area since. Mr. Brownlee was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
