BOONSVILLE -- Van Turner Connel, 69, a retired maintenance man for NACO Resort, died Thursday, June 12, 1997, at a Dallas hospital.

Graveside service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home.

Van Connel was born June 1, 1928, in San Diego, Calif.

Survivors: Special friend, Etta Osborn of Poolville; son, Larry Connel; daughter, Fawn Connel; step-children, Trisha Hall, Lillian Simmons, Carol Church and Sue Gillpin; and cousin, Patsy Cox of Fort Worth.

C. Raymond Cypert
FORT WORTH -- C. Raymond Cypert, 85, a retired retail carpet manager, died Friday, June 13, 1997, at home.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Ridglea United Methodist Church. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.

Memorials: Ridglea United Methodist Church or Alzhemier's Association of Tarrant County Parenting Center.

Mr. Cypert was born July 14, 1911, in Hillsboro.

He married Helen Akins in 1937, and the couple moved to Fort Worth in 1941. He was employed in the retail carpeting business for numerous years.

Mr. Cypert was employed as the carpet manager for Monnigs until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of Ridglea United Methodist Church.

Mr. Cypert was preceded in death by his wife, Helen A. Cypert on Jan. 12, 1996.

Survivors: Sons, David T. Cypert of Azle, G. Lynn Cypert of Houston; daughter-in-law, Bettye C. and Wade T. Nowlin of Fort Worth; brother, Truman Cypert of Hillsboro; sister-in-law, Gladys Irwin of Fort Worth; sisters, Margie Boyse, Jewell Mitchell, both of Hillsboro, Sybil Herring of Alvin, Kathleen Cain of Pueblo, Col., Patsy Williamson of Dallas; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

FORT WORTH -- Lillian Jestene Elder, 89, a homemaker, died Wednesday, June 11, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.

Lillian Elder was born March 23, 1908, in Goldthwaite.

She was a housewife and a homemaker. She was a longtime resident of Fort Worth and a Baptist.

Survivors: Sons, Jeff E. Elder and William E. Elder; brother, Tommy Miller, all of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild.

Doris L. Ellis
FORT WORTH -- Doris L. Ellis, 71, who was a 25-year worker for Swift Ice Cream Campany died Friday, June 13, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Graveside service: 10 a.m. Thursday in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Doris Ellis was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Robinson, Ill.

She had lived in Fort Worth since 1938.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Ellis in November 1971.

Survivors: Brother, Bill Jack of Longmont, Col.; sister, Jeanette Holmes of Fort Worth; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Melton, Susan Morrison, Margaret Bush; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Aubrey E. Elmore
CROWLEY -- Aubrey E. Elmore, 68, a retired car salesman and grocery store owner, died Saturday, June 14, 1997, at home.

Funeral: Pending in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Burial: Tuscaloosa, Ala. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Land Funeral Home, Fort Worth.

Aubrey Elmore was born March 21, 1929, in Tuscaloosa, Ala. He was an Army veteran.

Obannon of Fort Worth; step-children, Pam K. Mr. Fields was born Sept. 21, 1923, in Ennis. He was a Fort Worth resident 52 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Odessa Williams Fields.

Survivors: Special friend, Mattie Long; son, Tyrone Williams of Casper, Wyo.; brother, Thomas Fields of Fort Worth; and sister, Jeweline Brown of Fort Worth.

She was preceded in death by husbands, E.B. Gilmore and W.A. Gardner; and children, Joyce Gilmore, Kenneth Gilmore and Glenda Walter.

Survivors: Son, Bill Gilmore; daughters, Janell Putsejubsky, Norma Bullard and Theola Casteell; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

LIPAN -- Troy Dee Gerdes, 32, an investor-broker, died Saturday, June 14, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Mr. Gerdes was born Sept. 7, 1964, in Spencer, Iowa, was reared in Aledo and graduated from Aledo High School. He attended Angelo State for a year, lived in Weatherford for eight years and Lipan for two years. He was very athletic and everyone who knew him loved him. He was a member of Elm Grove Assembly of God Church in Toler.

Survivors: Wife, Diane Gerdes; son, Colton Gerdes; daughter, Shelby Gerdes, all of Lipan; parents, Paul and Joyce Gerdes of Willow Park; sisters, Trudy Deel of Weatherford and Lynette Lode of Willow Park; grandmother, Ruth Green of Stanton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Laverne Fisher of Fort Worth; and several neices and nephews.

Manaura L. W. Gray
FORT WORTH -- Manaura L. Wilson Gray, 82, a housekeeper, died Thursday, June 12, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jonhson Chapel A. M. E. Church, 5235 Bonnell Ave. Wake: 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Baker Funeral Home.

Manaura Gray was born Dec. 22, 1914, in Fort Worth.

She was the daughter of the late George Wilson and Virginia Wilson of Fort Worth. She was reared in Fort Worth and attended public school and graduated from historical I. M. Terrell High School and Dickerson Beauty School.

She had been a member of Johnson Chapel A. M. E. Church since 1927 and served faithfully with the Missionary Society and other auxiliaries of her church. Mrs. Gray was a 40-year member of the Mildred M. Anderson Art and Charity Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jospeh D. Gray and sister, Aleane Willis.

Survivors: Son, George Austin Gray of Fort Worth; daughter, Dorothy Ann Gray of Los Angeles, Calif.; and other relatives and friends including Mrs. Nancy Smith.

AUSTIN -- Karl Harris, 19, a waiter, died Thursday, June 12, 1997, in Austin.

Karl Harris was born June 8, 1978, in Fort Worth.

He was a Fort Worth native, born to Larry and Sylvia Harris. He graduated from Paschal High School in 1996. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Karl most recently lived in Austin where he died.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry W. Harris in 1989.

Survivors: Mother, Sylvia Harris of Fort Worth; brother, Brian Harris of Austin; paternal grandmother, Jewel Harris of Fort Worth; nephew, Taj Harris of Austin; aunts, Evelyn Thralls, Sandy Cavazos and husband, Noe, all of Fort Worth, Lana Redinger of Arlington; great aunt; Gretchen Patkus of Austin; and cousins, Sierra Cavazos, Clayton Redinger and Celina Redinger.
