Willie Mitchell Jr. was born Aug. 16, 1937, in Martinsville, Va. He was also a retired Army veteran.

FORT WORTH -- Frankie L. Duncan Murray, 81, a homemaker, died Tuesday, June 17, 1997, at a local hospital.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Providence Baptist Church, 5500 Rickenbacker Place. Burial: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Family hour: 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Frankie Murray was born March 16, 1916, in La Grange, Texas. She was a committed servant at Providence Baptist Church.

Her other son, Arthur, had preceded her in death.

Survivors: Husband, Frank Murray; son, Richard Murray; brother, Chestine Duncan of Dallas; sister, Arnetha McKenzie of La Grange; and numerous grandchildren.

MARTINS MILLS -- Loren Paul O'Grady, 81, a gasoline transport truck driver for Phillips 66 for more than 30 years, died Sunday, June 15, 1997, in Athens, Texas.

Charles L. Owen
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Charles L. "Charlie" Owen, 75, a prominent local commercial and industrial developer and co-founder of Gearhart-Owen Industries, died Sunday, June 15, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Richland Hills Church of Christ. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth.

Charles L. "Charlie" Owen was born March 6, 1922, in Fort Worth. He grew up and lived on the south side of Fort Worth until 1963, when he moved to the old Smithfield area of North Richland Hills. He graduated from TCU in 1951 with a degree in business.

In 1974, he began developing industrial parks and office buildings. His company was one of the largest commercial and industrial developers in the North Richland, Haltom City and North Arlington areas in the 1970s and early '80s. Among his many projects were Spring Lake, North Richland Industrial Park, Stadium Place, The Atrium, Brown Trail Commons, Oak Grove Park and numerous other retail centers, office complexes and industrial developments.

Charlie, along with his brother, Harrold Owen, and Marvin Gearhart, was a founder of Gearhart-Owen Industries Inc. Starting with only four employees in 1955, Gearhart-Owen grew to more than 8,000 employees worldwide by the early '80s. Its revenues grew from $145,000 in its first year to $345,000,000, to make it the second-largest wireline service company in the world.

Mr. Owen served under Audie Murphy during World War II in the 3rd Infantry Division. Charlie received many medals, including two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and all company citations awarded Murphy's outfit. He was recently involved in helping Audie Murphy's son collect information for the Audie Murphy Research Foundation and was on hand for the dedication of the Audie Murphy Memorial Highway in Greenville, Texas.

Charlie was a tireless worker and devoted a great deal of time to the communities in which he lived and worked. He was a longtime member of Richland Hills Church of Christ, where he was a former deacon, was serving as the head of the Real Estate Ministry and served on numerous committees over the years. Most recently he was involved with the Covenant Group of the church, helping to develop and operate Meadowlakes Retirement Center.

He was a former North Richland Hills city councilman and served on the Planning and Zoning Commission until his death. He was a member of the Downtown Rotary Club for more than 30 years. For 35 years he has been a driving force and supporter of Fort Worth Christian School, where he served as a member of the board of trustees for 18 years, six of which he was chairman. He was instrumental in expanding the campus to its present 40-acre facility, which currently inspires 725 students, prekindergarten through 12th grade. He was the honorary chairman of the current "Securing the Future" fund-raising campaign for the school.

Charlie was a past president of the Safety Council of Fort Worth and Tarrant County, a past vice president of Haltom Richland Chamber of Commerce, former chairman and life member of Northeast Tarrant County Chamber of Commerce, former director of Huguley Memorial Health Center, former director and benefactor of York College, benefactor of Oklahoma Christian College, a member of the Longhorn Council of the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the South Area Council Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce.

Charlie will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Survivors: His wife, Linda of North Richland Hills; children, Judy Davis of Long Beach, Wash., Donna Huber of Fort Worth, Kathy Michener of Colleyville, Suzan Jenkins of Fort Worth, Charles L. Owen II of North Richland Hills and Michele Kelley of Diablo, Calif.; stepchildren, Lynne Whiting of Colleyville and Timothy Allen of North Richland Hills; grandchildren, Chris May, Greg May, Jennifer Nolan, Allison Larsen, Heather Moore, Dirk Michener, Joey Price, Lee Owen III, Jayci Jenkins, Landon Norwood, Ryan Huber, Keely Owen, Donna Jo Michener, Eric Michener, Brett Allen, Jade Jenkins, Jessica Whiting, Jori Jenkins, Brooke Allen, Taylor Kelley and Jett Jenkins; brothers and sisters, Jessie Mae Tomlinson of Stephenville, Harrold D. Owen of Fort Worth, LaDell Young of Arlington, Geneva Berg of Fort Worth and Joe Owen of Magnolia, Ark.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Zoe Elaine Teel Petersen was born July 15, 1924, to the late S. Scott and Zoe Elaine Teel. She was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth and graduated as valedictorian from Arlington Heights High School in 1941. She attended Monticello College in St. Louis, Mo.

In 1989, after 30 years of service, Zoe Elaine retired from Prudential Insurance Co. as assistant office manager.

She was an active member of Central Christian Church. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, Junior League of Fort Worth, Jewel Charity Ball, Roundelay Dance Club, River Crest Country Club and the National Secretaries Association. During World War II she was a Red Cross Volunteer.

Her infectious laugh, endearing smile and giving ways will be missed by all.
