Mary Alice Byrd Throne
RIVER OAKS -- Mary Alice Byrd Throne, 71, a homemaker, died Thursday, May 29, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Mary Alice Byrd Throne was born May 14, 1926, in Oklaunion, the sixth child of Ben and Emma Byrd. She went to school there and graduated in 1945. She married Bill Throne on Sept. 1, 1945, and they were married more than 51 years. Mary worked at Bob Abey Photography Studio, but quit to rear a family. Afterward, she worked at Bob Abey's for several more years.
Mary was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to play bingo, go to the Moose Lodge and boat club and work around her flower gardens at home. She loved working crossword puzzles, watching television game shows and reading novels. She especially loved to cook for her family and took great pride in cooking delicious home-cooked meals. Mary was a member of Rockwood Christian Church for more than 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Emma Byrd; her brothers, L.C. and Freeman Byrd; her sisters, Mae Ethel McElroy and Norine Byars; and a grandson, Aaron Throne.
Survivors: Her loving husband, Bill Throne of Fort Worth; sons, Benny Carl and his wife, Barbara, of Fort Worth, John William and his wife, Cindy, of Boise, Idaho, and Dennis Dean and his wife, Karen, of Fort Worth; sister, Willie Lou Martin and her husband, Clyde, of Clarksville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Blake Throne and Toby Jo Johnson, both of Fort Worth, Lisa Woody and her husband, Trent, of Mansfield, and Jennifer Throne, Jarilyn Throne, J.T.
