Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at White's Funeral Home, Springtown. Burial: Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Family will receive visitors 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Hattie Thomas was born Aug. 11, 1897, in Birmingham, Ala. She was a lifelong resident of Springtown and a member of the Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener and dairy farmer 27 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. Thomas, in 1970, after 56 years of marriage; son, Harold Thomas, in 1976; and a grandson, Larry Arnwine, in 1996.
Survivors: Daughters, Ruby Ellis of North Richland Hills, Billie and her husband, Loyd Jones, of Springtown, and Peggy and her husband, Jack Arnwine, of Saginaw; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mary Alice Byrd Throne
RIVER OAKS -- Mary Alice Byrd Throne, 71, a homemaker, died Thursday, May 29, 1997, in Fort Worth.
Graveside service: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Mary Alice Byrd Throne was born May 14, 1926, in Oklaunion, the sixth child of Ben and Emma Byrd. She went to school there and graduated in 1945. She married Bill Throne September 1, 1945, and they were married more than 51 years. Mary worked at Bob Abey Photography Studio, but quit to rear a family. Afterward, she worked at Bob Abey's for several more years.
Mary was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to play bingo, go to the Moose Lodge, boat club and work around her flower gardens at home. She loved crossword puzzles, televison game shows and reading novels. She especially loved to cook for her family and took great pride in cooking delicious home-cooked meals. Mary was a member of the Rockwood Christian Church for more than 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Emma Byrd; her brothers, L.C. and Freeman Byrd; her sisters; Mae Ethel McElroy and Norine Byars, and her grandson, Aaron Throne.
Survivors: Mary is survived by her loving husband, Bill Throne of Fort Worth; sons, Benny Carl and his wife, Barbara of Fort Worth, John William and his wife, Cindy of Boise, Idaho, Dennis Dean and his wife, Karen of Fort Worth; sister, Willie Lou Martin and her husband, Clyde of Clarksville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Blake Throne and Toby Jo Johnson, both of Fort Worth, Lisa Woody and her husband, Trent of Mansfield, Jennifer Throne, Jarilyn Throne, J.T. Eugene W. Anderson
ARLINGTON -- Eugene W. Anderson, 64, a professor, died Friday, May 30, 1997, in Arlington.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church of Arlington. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: For public viewing after 5 p.m. Monday.

Mr. Anderson was born Sept. 17, 1932, in Kinsley, Kan.
He moved to Arlington in 1978 and had a long career in education capped by his PhD. in Physical Education from Arizona State University in 1970. He began his career as a high school teacher and coach, first at Hanover, Kan., then Hays, Kan., followed by tenures at Olivet College in Michigan, Chico State College in California, Southwest State University in Minnesota and finally the University of Texas at Arlington.
He joined the UTA staff in 1978 as Professor and Chair of the Department of Exercise, Sport and Health Studies. During his administration he advanced the stature of the UTA program to its current level. In recent years he developed an avid interest in model railroading and designed and built an excellent rail layout which included a section dedicated to his home town of Kinsley.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Arlington where he was active in the choir. He was on the Board of the American Heart Association and provided volunteer service projects for the Arlington Public Schools. He participated in a model railroad train club and several professional organizations. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his father, Harlow Anderson. Survivors: Wife of 43 years, Julie Anderson; son, Keith Anderson of San Francisco, Calif; daughters, Laurie Thais and husband, Bill, Shelly Murphy and husband, Paul, all of Arlington; mother, Fadonna Anderson; brother, Rollen Anderson and wife, Carol of Austin; sister, Donna Kay Frick and husband, Elmer of Kinsley, Kan.; and grandchildren, Matthew Thais, Sean Thais, Devon Thais, Jory Murphy and Reese Murphy.

Georgia Etta Herring Baker was born June 10, 1901, in Salesville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Baker in 1982 and two sons, Wilson Baker and Glenn Allen Baker.
She had been a gift wrapper at Leonards Department Store.

Mr. Behrens was born July 16, 1934, in Colleyville.
He was born and reared in what is now Colleyville. He was town marshall before Colleyville became a city. He was a graduate of Grapevine High School and attended Paris Junior College and Arlingon State College.
