Laleta Baker was born Jan. 5, 1925, in Greenwood, La.
She came to Fort Worth early in her life and spent most of her years here. Mrs. Baker completed nursing training here and was a hospital dietitian for St. Joseph Hospital for several years. She later worked as a sales representative for a local cemetery. Mrs. Baker was also a licensed florist and a member of Eastern Star and American Woodmen.
She was the widow of James H. Baker Jr.
Survivors: Daughter, Jamie Baker of Fort Worth; brother, James Dunn of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Kenneth D. Flowers, Brandon J. Flowers and Brenton E. Flowers of Fort Worth; and many other family members and friends.

AZLE -- Ella J. Bates, 99 years, 6 months and 11 days, a homemaker, died Tuesday, May 27, 1997, at an Azle nursing home.

Ella J. Bates was born Nov. 16, 1897. She was a member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Reno.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther A. Bates, on June 24, 1977, and son, M.J. "Shorty" Bates, in July 1958.

Oscar H. Bernhardt was born April 3, 1919, in Olney. He retired from General Dynamics after 36 years. He had been a resident of Fort Worth since 1949. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was married 55 for years.

HALTOM CITY -- Andrew "Jack" Campbell Jr., 83, a retired sales representative in machinery, died Wednesday, May 28, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Andrew Campbell Jr. was born Jan. 4, 1914, in Temple, Texas. He was the retired owner of Jack Campbell Machinery and Supplies. He attended Arlington State College. He was an active member of Glenview Baptist Church, where he played in the ukulele band and belonged to the LLL Class. Jack Campbell always enjoyed playing with the ukulele band at nursing homes and other functions.
Mr. Campbell was a loving husband, father and grandparent who enjoyed the company of his family and friends, his church, music and fishing. During his younger years, he played clarinet in several bands. Jazz was one of his favorite styles of music. Later, gospel music became another of his favorites.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melba Bass.

FORT WORTH -- Leonard O. Cathers, 79, died Tuesday, May 27, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Leonard Cathers was born May 29, 1917, in Kansas City, Mo. He worked as a lineman for General Motors. He also worked at General Dynamics and as a distributor for Sears. He served as a quartermaster in the Army from 1942 to 1946. He was a security officer at Wichita Avenue United Methodist Church for 6 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10461. Mr. and Mrs. Cathers were a husband and wife truck driving team which delivered trailers to dealers.
