CLEBURNE -- Lloyd B. Hathcock, 76, a retired electrician at General Dynamics and a retired minister, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at a Cleburne hospital.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church in Cleburne. Burial: Pleasant Point Cemetery in Johnson County.

Lloyd Hathcock was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Venus. He entered the ministry in 1956. He retired from General Dynamics after 32 years of employment.
Survivors: Sons, Roger L. Hathcock of Cleburne and the Rev. Milton C. Hathcock of Buffalo, Mo.; daughters, Audry H. Bussey of Cleburne and Freda R. Major of Crowley; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Ruth Devall Heywood
FORT WORTH -- Ruth Devall Heywood, 96, a retired piano teacher, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, in Fort Worth.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Monday, June 9, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 917 Lamar. A reception will follow. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.
Memorials: in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Partners in Prayer or the Fort Worth chapter of TWU Alumnae Scholarship Fund.
Ruth Devall Heywood was born June 3, 1901, in Mount Vernon. She was a 72- year resident of Fort Worth and a leader in promotion of the arts among the city's youth.
She was past president of the Fort Worth Piano Teachers' Forum and a founder of the Van Cliburn Quadrennial Competition. She was active in the Fort Worth Music Teachers' Association and the National Guild of Piano Teachers.
When she left the teaching field in 1981, she had taught piano to some 400 young Fort Worth residents over a half- century span. A number of her pupils followed her into the instructional ranks.
She was very active in St. Andrews Episcopal Church. She was a member of women's guilds, the prayer group and was a choir mother. She also belonged to Partners in Prayer.
She was the oldest child of country newspaper publisher Charles Robert Devall and Leila Lundy Milam Devall of Mount Vernon, in Franklin County. She and Milton Scott Heywood were married on Dec. 31, 1923, and set up housekeeping in Fort Worth, where Mr. Heywood was involved in management at the Fort Worth Transit Co.
In 1945, he became operations manager at Texas Motor Coaches, headquartered in Fort Worth.
Mrs. Heywood attended Mount Vernon schools and was a graduate of CIA (now TWU) in Denton. She later attended the St. Louis Institute of Music and TCU. She was a member of the Athenaeum Club and a life member of TWU Alumnae Association, serving as Fort Worth Chapter president from 1970 to 1972.

ALVARADO -- Nannie Pearl King, 79, a retired seamstress for Walls Industry, died Thursday, June 5, 1997, at a Cleburne hospital.
Graveside service: 1 p.m. Friday in Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne.
Nannie King was born May 4, 1918, in Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Cooper King, on March 13, 1990, and son, Henry King, in May 1991.
Survivors: Son, Jimmy King of Grandview; daughters, Betty Sorrells of Cleburne, Nelda Fox of Cleburne and Debra Finstad of Alvarado; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Joan Long

Helen Peabody Marietta was born Nov. 10, 1913, in Newport, R.I, the daughter of Lionel and Helen Ward Peabody. She graduated from Peter-Bent Brigham Nursing School in 1934 and married Dr. John Stanley Marietta on Nov. 21, 1942. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1980. She had lived in Fort Worth 47 years.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Alice Peabody Blaikie and Eunice Peabody Kelly; and brothers, Lionel Peabody and Herbert Peabody.

FORT WORTH -- Catherine Paxton, 90, a retired teacher, died Thursday, June 5, 1997, in Plano.

Catherine Paxton was born Sept. 20, 1906, in Fort Worth.
She graduated from Our Lady of Victory High School in 1924 and Texas Wesleyan in 1928. She was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth. She was a member of Hemphill Presbyterian Church and taught kindergarten at Westcliff Elementary School for 28 years. She was the first certified kindergarten teacher in the Fort Worth Independent School District. She was a member of the Womans Club of Fort Worth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Paxton, in February of 1996.
Survivors: Sons and daughters-in- law, John Jr. and Virginia Paxton of Plano and Joseph E. and Allyson Paxton of Colleyville; and grandchildren, David Paxton of Dallas, Christopher Paxton of Dallas, Jennifer Paxton of Colleyville and Jason Paxton of Colleyville.
