BENBROOK -- Oland Carl "O.C." Sloan, 84, a retired General Dynamics employee, died Thursday, June 12, 1997, in Benbrook.

Oland Carl "O.C." Sloan was born May 1, 1913, in Kaufman. He was a member of Ridglea Masonic Lodge, Chapter and Council.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecil M. Sloan.

FORT WORTH -- Benny Bob "Big Ben" Stone, 62, a retired pawnbroker, died Wednesday, June 11, 1997, in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.

Benny Bob "Big Ben" Stone was born July 5, 1934, in Bowie, but was raised in Fort Worth most of his life. Benny was owner and operator of Big Ben's Pawn Shop in Fort Worth for many years.
His kindness and generosity touched many people. He was a man of character and never met a person he didn't make friends with. He helped so many people in his life, all too numerous to mention. Benny loved life to the fullest and enjoyed his family so much and the many friends he shared with. His Christian heart touched all of us.
The family wishes to thank sincerely the doctors and staff of John Peter Smith Hospital and MICU for the devotion and care Benny received. Mrs. Stone extends a very special appreciation to Dr. Michael Casa Grande for his relentless and caring treatments for her husband.

Raymond Louis Stuard
FORT WORTH -- Raymond Louis "Bob" Stuard, 68, died Thursday, June 12, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Raymond Louis "Bob" Stuard was a retired senior field service engineer for scientific products. He was a member of the East Side Crime Watch Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Stuard served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Ella Galle Stuard, and a brother, James.

Virginia Lockwood Thompson was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Wanaque, N.J. She had resided in the Fort Worth area since 1988. She was a volunteer for more than 25 years with the Pompton Lakes First Aid Squad and also worked with Girl Scouts of America. She enjoyed living at St. Francis Village.
Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Thompson.

Nora Christy Walker was born Dec. 23, 1909, in Apache, Okla. She was a member of Eleventh Avenue Church in Mineral Wells.

Mildred Bandor was born Oct. 10, 1908, in Taylor Springs, Ill.
She was the widow of Joseph P. Bandor, administrative consultant of the Public Housing Administration. He died in 1965. Mr. Bandor was a prominent layman in Fort Worth and the recipient of the Holy Trinity Medal of Honor, a knight commander of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and president and historian of the Sierra Club of Fort Worth. Mr. Bandor served as president of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Men and was a member of Msgr. Robert M. Nolan Council Knights of Columbus. He was also a past faithful navigator of General Worth General Assembly, 4th degree Knights of Columbus.
Mrs. Bandor was a member of St. Patrick Cathedral, past president of its Altar Society and a member of the Auxiliary of the Carmelites Court Louise, a member of Catholic Daughters of America and a lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

Charles Bertram Barker II
FORT WORTH -- Charles Bertram Barker II, 85, owner of a foundry and plastics business, died Friday, May 16, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Mr. Barker was born Feb. 15, 1912, in Pittsburg, Kan., and spent the last 30 years in the Metroplex. Charles attended First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. He had the rare ability of meeting and talking with anyone. He never met a stranger. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend. As a young man, Charles was the fastest runner in three states and was the recipient of several awards as a softball pitcher. An award plaque entitled "Keep the Dream Alive" was recently originated in his honor at All Saints Episcopal School, where he was well-known for his dedication to his grandson, Courtney Lindley's activities and to the athletic program. Each year, the name of a student of exceptional character, leadership, and athletic ability will be added to this plaque. Charles will be missed by family and friends, but will always hold a special place in our hearts. We will keep the dream alive, Charles.
