Kenneth Browne IV was born May 7, 1958, in Bryan. He was a member of Smithfield United Methodist Church and was active as a lay leader, in the Chancel Choir, The Men's Group and the Seekers Class. He was an Eagle Scout and a previous Scoutmaster. He was a soccer coach at the N.E. YMCA. Upon his death he made a gift of his organs, so that others may live.
Survivors: Wife, Carol Browne of Colleyville; sons, David Ladd and Andrew Samuel Browne, both of Colleyville; daughters, Emily Elizabeth Browne of Colleyville; parents, Kenneth and Thelmarie Browne of San Antonio, Mark Browne of Marble Falls; sisters, Clair Browne Hease of San Antonio; numerous loving relatives; and his church family at Smithfield United Methodist Church.

Letha Jane Adams Brown
BURLESON -- Letha Jane Adams Brown, 92, a homemaker and a retired Burleson teacher, died Monday, May 5, 1997, at a Fort Worth nursing center.
Funeral: 4 p.m. Wednesday at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne. Her former first-grade students will be pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be retired Burleson school district friends.

Letha Jane Brown was a member of the Eastern Star, Burleson Chapter 431, Texas Retired Teachers Association, the Royal Neighbors and First United Methodist Church of Burleson. She received degrees from Northern State University (Northern State Teachers College) in Aberdeen, S.D., and Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth. She taught school in South Dakota and Burleson, Texas, for 28 years. She substituted in Burleson for 16 years.
Mrs. Brown was born Nov. 22, 1904, in Garden City, S.D. When she graduated from Garden City High School at the age of 17, she received her second-grade teaching certificate. She began her teaching career at the age of 18 in a one- room schoolhouse in South Elrod, S.D., with eight students. She also taught in Elrod and Garden City. With five years of teaching experience and an associate degree earned during the summers from Northern State Teachers College (Northern State University), she became a demonstration teacher supervising student teachers at the seventh- and eight- grade levels in Westport, S.D., for Northern State Teachers College.
She left her teaching career and family in South Dakota to come to Texas and marry a native Texan in 1935. She received a life teaching certificate during the governorship of Miriam "Ma" Ferguson. In 1957, she resumed her teaching career substituting and began teaching first grade the next year at Nola Dunn Elementary in Burleson, where she taught for 17 years. After retiring, she continued to substitute for 15 years for the Burleson schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Brown; her parents, George Adams and Grace Stacey Adams; and brothers, Wilton Adams and Melvin Adams.
Survivors: Her daughter and son-in- law, Letha Grace Brown McCoy and Gary Lynn McCoy of Burleson.

Glenn M. Burns
FORT WORTH -- Glenn M. Burns, 71, a roofer, died Monday, May 5, 1997.
Graveside service: 2 p.m. Thursday in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Glenn M. Burns was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Fort Worth. He had been a lifetime resident of Fort Worth. He graduated from Carter-Riverside High School in 1943. He met his wife, Louise Averitt, during the war and they were married more than 50 years ago. Mr. Burns was a roofer most of his life, a great part of the time with E.O. Wood. He was a an avid sportsman. He enjoyed fishing and spent much of his time watching and listening to seasonal sports, especially baseball and the Rangers.
Survivors: Wife, Louise Burns of Fort Worth; sons, Gerald Burns of Copperas Cove and Gregory Burns of Newark; daughters, Linda Smith of Lake Worth and Elaine Smith of Bedford; brother, Willard Burns of Fort Worth; sister, Mary Gammon of San Antonio; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

FORT WORTH -- Roscoe E. Garrett, 89, a mail coder, died Monday, May 5, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Roscoe E. Garrett was born Aug. 7, 1907, in Hopkins County. He was the second oldest of six children born to Thomas J. and Carrie Garrett. Mr. Garrett met Catherine Cook there in their community and they married in Oklahoma. They have been married for 64 years. Together they worked for Pacific Union Railroad and retired after 30 years of service with that company. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Baker, in July 1994.
Survivors: Wife, Catherine Garrett of Fort Worth; daughter, Marilyn Landry of Illinois; six grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Mylinda Gay Hefner Griffin
ARLINGTON -- Mylinda Gay Hefner Griffin, 40, a nurse, died Sunday, May 4, 1997, at home.
Graveside service: 10 a.m. Thursday in Mansfield Cemetery.
Mylinda Griffin was born April 20, 1957, in Fort Worth. She worked as a nurse. She loved her work, but loved the Lord the most. What a blessing to be with the Lord. She is now with both her earthly father and heavenly Father. Both father and daughter up there praying for all of us down here.
She was married to Don Allen Griffin in April of 1922 in Fort Worth.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Hefner, on May 16, 1996.
Survivors: Husband, Don Allen Griffin of Arlington; mother, Donis Hefner of Boyd; and brother, Kenneth Hefner Jr. of Richland Hills.
