Alta Lorene Wright was born June 29, 1920, in Wapanucka, Okla. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Aubrey.

Jerry Garrett Woodard
EULESS -- Jerry Garrett Woodard, 46, a bowling youth director, died Thursday, May 1, 1997, in Bedford.
Funeral: Was Saturday at Moore Funeral Home. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens.
Jerry Woodard was born June 22, 1950, in Knox City, Texas. The joy of her life was her granddaughter, Dani, her "little angel." Jerry lived for her kids, "Jerry's Kids" as they were called. She devoted many countless hours to the youth bowlers in the Fort Worth/Dallas area. She worked for the past eight years at three area bowling centers, Showplace Lanes, Bronco Bowl and Hurst Bowl.
She volunteered with many organizations and committees devoted to kids. Most recently, she served as president of the Fort Worth Yaba, and she belonged to the Fort Worth Coaches Association and HEB Adopt-A-School. She will be missed by many. Jerry gave of her heart, from her heart and she has given all of her heart. We love you Jerry.

Michael Absher was born Jan. 24, 1946, in Fort Worth. He grew up in White Settlement and attended Brewer High School, where he played in the band. In 1968, he graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After working for a number of years as an accountant for International Harvester, he joined the staff at Texas Motors. He and his wife, Carol, were members of Aledo United Methodist Church. Michael became a friend to everyone who met him.

HUBBARD -- James Harold Akin, 64, retired from General Dynamics, died Saturday, May 3, 1997, at home.
Funeral:2 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Funeral Home. Burial: Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wade's Chapel. Rev. Rick Woodall of the First Baptist Church in Hubbard and Rev. Ronnie Beams of the First Baptist Church in Benbrook will officiate.

James Harold Akin was born Nov. 3, 1932, in Princeton to Mart and Ava Jackson Akin. He later moved to Fort Worth where he made life-long friends playing baseball. He was All-State second baseman in 1950 when Arlington Heights High School of Fort Worth went off to State Play-offs.
James graduated from Arlington Heights and Texas Christian University with a BBA in management and married Patsy Lawler on June 2, 1951. He had 40 years of service with General Dynamics before retiring in December of 1992 and during his tenure held various positions including Manager of the Consortium Program in the United States, Belgium, Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands, Director of the Turkey Joint Venture Project Office and General Manager of Maquiladora Palnt in Chihuahua, Mexico. James was an ordained deacon and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Benbrook for 35 years. Shortly after building his retirement home on the acreage he purchased in 1975, James and his wife, Pat, joined the First Baptist Church of Hubbard.
