Joyce Smithey

Jan. 1, 1943 — Nov. 29, 2001

BUFFALO — Services for Joyce Smithey, 58, of Buffalo are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Buffalo Funeral Home.

Bro. Dale Osteen will officiate. Burial will be in Huntsville, Ala.

Mrs. Smithey died Thursday in Providence Hospital in Waco.

She was born and lived most of her life in Huntsville, Ala., and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T.J. Smithey.

Survivors include two sons, Tommy Joe Smithey of Huntsville and Randy Cummins of Indiana; five daughters, Patricia Kurtz and Terri Smithey, both of Huntsville, Judy Cummins of Florida, Tina Yeavy of Houston and Sheila Cummins of Indiana; a brother, John Copeland of Buffalo; a sister, Judy Johnston of Buffalo; and 11 grandchildren.

Vicente C. Sifuentes
July 19, 1921 — Nov. 30, 2001

HEARNE — Services for Vicente C. Sifuentes, 80, of Hearne are set for 1 p.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hearne.

The Rev. Scott Mikkelson of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in St. Jose Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Mr. Sifuentes died Friday in the Hearne Health Care Center.

He was born in Bryan and was retired after 33 years with the city of Hearne. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in England, France, Belgium and Germany, receiving numerous medals and awards. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Sifuentes of Hearne; two sons and daughters-in-law, Pete and Lynda Sifuentes of Tyler and Joe and Brenda Sifuentes of Ennis, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Mike Bates of Richardson, Texas; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Julian Sifuentes, Delfino and Ada Sifuentes and John and Mary Sifuentes, all of Hearne, and Domingo Sifuentes of Bryan; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jeromy J. Williams
March 12, 1976 — Oct. 26, 2001

MADISONVILLE — Services for Jeromy J. Williams, 25, of Denton are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Willowhole Chapel in North Zulch.
Lanier Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Willowhole Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Madisonville Funeral Home.

Mr. Williams died Oct. 26 in Fort Worth.

He was born in Garland, Texas, and graduated from Madisonville High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was employed as a mortgage broker for Wall Street Mortgage in Garland at the time of his death. He was of the Church of Christ faith.

Survivors include his parents, Johnny Salley of Garland and Cathy Williams of Madisonville; a sister, Emily Williams of Madisonville; grandparents, J.W. and Dorothy Williams of Midway; four uncles; four aunts; and eight cousins.

Elbert Ray Roach
May 7, 1921 — Dec. 1, 2001

BUFFALO — Memorial services for Elbert Ray Roach, 80, of the Lanely community in Freestone County are set for Dec. 20 at Grace Tabernacle in Dew, Texas.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Buffalo Funeral Home.

Mr. Roach died Saturday at his home.

He was born in Woodward, Kan., and lived in the Lanely community near Buffalo since 1983. He formerly lived in Wichita, Kan., and was retired after 21 years as an electronics engineer for Boeing. He served in the U.S. Air Army Air Corps during World War II and attended Grace Tabernacle.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Roach of Lanely; a son, Randall Roach of Vacaville, Calif.; a daughter, Pamela Ray Miltz of Wamego, Kan.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grace Tabernacle Building Fund, P.O. Box 131 C, Buffalo, Texas 75831.

Elma Easley Anderson

Sept. 27, 1915 — Dec. 2, 2001

CAMERON — Services for Elma Easley Anderson, 86, of Cameron are set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.

The Rev. Dan Darby will officiate. Burial will be in Little River Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Anderson died Sunday in a Rockdale hospital.

She was born in Cameron and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cameron. She was salutatorian of her class at Yoe High School and owned and operated Anderson TV and Appliance in Cameron for many years. She was a founding member of the Cameron Country Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Burnett Anderson.

Survivors include a daughter, Jo Ann Anderson of Cameron; two sons, Rodney Anderson of Austin and Richard Anderson of Georgetown; and three grandchildren.

Lucas Kristoph Bryand

Oct. 27, 2001 — Dec. 2, 2001

Services for Lucas Kristoph Bryand, one month, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

Deacon Bill Scarmardo of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lucas died Sunday at his home.

He was born in Bryan.

Survivors include his parents, Damian and Amanda Bryand of Bryan; two brothers, Jacob Bryand and Kalob Bryand, both of Bryan; grandparents, Janice Muston of Bryan and Mr. and Mrs. Armando Bryand of Bryan; great-grandmother, Anne Salvaggio of Bryan; and numerous other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a fund at the First American Bank in memory of Lucas Bryand.

Charlie Belle Aycox Legette

Aug. 26, 1919 — Oct. 11, 2001

CHICAGO — Services for Charlie Belle Aycox Legette, 82, of Chicago were Oct. 25 and Oct. 30 in Chicago and Houston.

Burial was in Houston Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements were under the direction of Johnson’s Funeral Home in Chicago and Carl Barnes Funeral Home in Houston.

Mrs. Legette died Oct. 11.

She was born in Cameron and lived in Chicago more than 35 years. She attended Cameron schools and formerly lived in Houston. She was a member of Mount Horeb Baptist Church in Houston, where she was in the choir and an usher. In Chicago she worked as a nurse in the Chicago health system and later worked at Johnson Publishing Co. Inc. She was a member of the Chicago Funeral Directors’ Wives Association, Wesley United Methodist Church of Chicago and numerous other organizations.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Frankie Legette; five sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda Joyce of Dime Box, Margaret Ruth of New York, Betty Charles of Virginia, Ruth Burton and Lovie and E.L. Rhone, all of Houston; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Bruce, Harvard Ray and Preston Aycox, all of Houston, Edward Lee and Emma Aycox of Bryan and Clara Aycox of Oakland, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Corra Michelle Faye Kibodeaux

Aug. 17, 2001 — Nov. 30, 2001

CALDWELL — Services for Corra Michelle Faye Kibodeaux, three months, of Caldwell are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell.

Burial will be in Wellborn Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Corra died Friday at her home.

Survivors include her parents, Chancy and Courtney Kibodeaux of Bryan; a sister, Kalysto Husted of Millican; two brothers, Ethan Kibodeaux and Drew Kibodeaux, both of Bryan; grandparents, Frank and Rosaland Gerlach of Caldwell, Alan and Lisa Stallings of Bryan and Eldridge Kibodeaux of Iola; a stepgrandfather, Wayne Gill of Bryan; great-grandparents, Harry and Maggie Pfeffer of Caldwell, Mary Anne Hancock of Bryan; two great-great-grandmothers, Edna Warren of Bryan and Fannie Hancock of Beaumont; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ed Kerlick

Jan. 22, 1914 — Dec. 3, 2001

Services for Ed Kerlick, 87, of College Station are set for 1 a.m. Wednesday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in College Station.

The Rev. Erich Schaefer of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in College Station Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Kerlick died Monday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Ecleto, Texas, and lived in College Station since 1958. He was the job safety training director at the Texas Engineering Extension Service for many years before his retirement in 1980. He was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Selma Kerlick.

Survivors include a son, Robert Kerlick of Gilmer, Texas; two daughters, Carol Cyphers of Austin and Cyndi Shaw of College Station; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 315 Tauber, College Station, Texas 77840.

Albert Wheelus

July 6, 1912 — Dec. 1, 2001

ROCKDALE — Services for Albert Wheelus, 89, of Tanglewood, Texas, are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

The Rev. Joel Stevenson of the Tanglewood Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Hugh Wilson Cemetery in Tanglewood.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Wheelus died Saturday at Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.

He was born in Fannin County and lived in Tanglewood since 1948. He was a heavy-equipment operator for Tonn Construction in Giddings for 20 years. He was also a farmer and rancher. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was also a member of the Lexington Masonic Lodge and was a past member of the Lexington school board.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie Dell Wheelus; and a son, Albert Ray Wheelus.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Gladys Elder of Las Vegas; a daughter and son-in-law, Emmie Joyce and Gary Ranous of Austin; a sister, Emmie Hawthorne of Roosevelt, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
