Services for Thelma Penn Mucha, 88, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

The Rev. John Gantt of Hope Evangelical Free Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Restever Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mucha died Wednesay at Sherwood Health Care Center.

She was born in Franklin County and was the owner of Shady View Nursery. She was a member of Atlanta Methodist Church in Atlanta, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Mucha.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Ludmila Mucha of Bryan; a sister, Hazelle Hawkins of Little Rock, Ark.; two nieces; and two nephews.

Lue James Hines

Jan. 16, 1920 — Jan. 22, 2002

Services for Lue James Hines, 82, of Bryan are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Martin Luther King Jr. Street Church of Christ. Carnell Nealy will officiate. Burial will be in the Roams Chapel Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Peoples Mortuary in Bryan.

Mr. Hines died Tuesday at College Station Medical Center.

He was born in Brazos County and was a cook at Texas A&M University. He was a member of the Martin Luther King Jr. Street Church of Christ in Bryan.

Survivors include two sons, Lue James Hines Jr. of Bryan and William Arthur Hines of Houston; two daughters, Maxine Phillips of Bryan and Dorthy Hines of Houston; two stepdaughters, Dorthy Rozier and Ruth Jackson, both of Houston; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Minnie Houston Clay

Sept. 26, 1916 — Jan. 21, 2002

Services for Minnie Houston Clay, 85, of Bryan are set for noon Saturday at Lee Chapel United Methodist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Floyd Polk will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mrs. Clay died Monday in the St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Normangee and lived in Bryan for the past 57 years. She was a member of Lee Chapel United Methodist church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Clay.

Survivors include four sons, Joseph Alexander, Earl Clay, Nelson Parnell Jr. and Andrew Parnell, all of Bryan; a son-in-law, Nelson Parnell Sr. of Bryan; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Velma Clay of Bryan, Thelma and Frankie Jones of Los Angeles, Carla Parnell and Deborah and James Toliver, all of Bryan; a sister and brother-in-law, Johnnie Mae and R.L. Polk of Madisonville; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Lee Chapel Elder Aid.

Lyndel Orene Williamson

March 26, 1929 — Jan. 22, 2002

NACOGDOCHES — Graveside services for Lyndel Orene Williamson, 72, of Nacogdoches and formerly of Madisonville are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Bedias Baptist Cemetery.

The Rev. Chris Beam will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Southern Heritage Funeral Home of Bedias.

Mrs. Williamson died Tuesday.

Mrs. Williamson was born in Madison County. She was a longtime member of the World Wide Church of God.

Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law, Susan and Ray Brady of The Woodlands, Texas, Denise Allemang of Etoile, Texas, and Rebecca Bradley of Chireno, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Bill Ward of Fairfield, Texas; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

Ivy Pauline Broadus Timmons

Sept. 10, 1916 — Jan. 24, 2002

HEARNE — Services for Ivy Pauline Broadus Timmons, 85, of Hearne are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Baptist Church near Hearne.

The Rev. Eldon “Bubba” Alfred will officiate. Burial will be in the Suggs Cemetery near Hearne.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mrs. Timmons died Thursday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

She was born in Edge, Texas, and lived in Hearne most of her life. She was a homemaker and member of Bethany Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Timmons.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Sue Timmons of San Saba, Texas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Ray Charles Johnson

Oct. 2, 1951 — Jan. 19, 2002

HEARNE — Services for Ray Charles Johnson, 50, of Hearne are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Independent Missionary Baptist Church in Hearne.

The Rev. Walter Ward will officiate. Burial will be in the Port Sullivan Cemetery in Branchville.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mr. Johnson died Saturday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Branchville and was a longtime resident of Hearne. He was a rancher’s assistant. Mr. Johnson attended Blackshear High School and completed Gary Job Corps in San Marcos. He was a member of the Independent Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Chelsea LaTisha Johnson of College Station and LaQuita Foster of Hearne; two brothers, Timothy Johnson of Galveston and Ulysses Wells Jr. of Houston; two sisters, Barbara Johnson of Hearne and Arvis Hopkins of Houston; and his parents, Pearline Johnson and Ulysses “Bryant” Wells Sr., both of Hearne.

Billy Joe Wilson

Dec. 5, 1942 — Jan. 23, 2002

Services for Billy Joe Wilson, 59, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Galilee Baptist Church.

The Rev. John F. Foster Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Daniel & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Wilson died Wednesday.

A lifetime resident of Bryan, he was retired from Culligan Water Purification. He was a 1961 graduate of E.A. Kemp High School and was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Wilson.

Survivors include a stepson, Donald McFadden of Denver; a daughter, Yolanda L. Allen-Wilson of Bryan; two stepdaughters, Carolyn and Patricia McFadden, both of Denver; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Bennie Jr. and Gloria Wilson of the Brushy community, Floyd Wilson of Bryan, Otis and Geraldine Wilson of Houston and Raymond and Cora Wilson of Odessa; a brother-in-law, John Weedon of Chicago; a sister and brother-in-law, Alberta and Leon Stevenson of Denver; three sisters-in-law, Beatrice Cash, Delores Weedon and Geraldine Weedon, all of Chicago; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Galilee Baptist Church.

Mary Margaret McNarney Newcomb

Dec. 18, 1920 — Jan. 22, 2002

CALDWELL — Services for Mary Margaret McNarney Newcomb, 81, of Caldwell are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell.

The Revs. Dimitrij Colankin and Geary Oren McManus will officiate. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, with a wake service at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Newcomb died Tuesday at Mainland Center Hospital in Texas City.

She was born in Brechin, Ontario. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Caldwell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred W. Newcomb.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia M. and David S. Day of Texas City; a sister, Lillian Niemczewski of Dearborn, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Terry McNarney of Inkster, Mich. and Lois Godbehere of Bryan; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Oscar W. and Celia Newcomb of Caldwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sam T. Yeager

April 15, 1918 — Jan. 24, 2002

Services for Sam T. Yeager, 83, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan.

Monsignor John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

A rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Yeager died Thursday at his home.

He was born in Kurten and was a longtime resident of Bryan. He was a rancher, former owner and operator of the Ridgecrest Mobile Station in Bryan and was retired as a rural route carrier for the post office. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. Gleissner Council 1834 and the Sons of Hermann. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Yeager of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Heddy Yeager of Crockett, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat Lindsey-Mata and Victor Mata of Bryan; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
