ROCKDALE — Services for Joe Farrar, 81, of Rockdale are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
The Rev. Greg Nichols of the First Christian Church of Lexington will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Mr. Farrar died Saturday in Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.
He was born in Leon Junction, Texas, and lived in Rockdale for 30 years. He formerly lived in Fort Worth and was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 26 and a half years of service. He also worked for Alcoa during start-up, General Dynamics and Shell Oil Company. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Rockdale.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Farrar of Rockdale; a son, Damon K. Farrar of Rockdale; a daughter, Denise Kay Nichols of Rockdale; two brothers, John Henry “Sonny” Farrar of Whitney, Texas, and N.F. “Pat” Farrar of Grand Prairie, Texas; two sisters, Ruby Jean Evans of Waco and Bobby Sue Crawford of Gatesville, Texas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Ruth Davis Kutzschbach
Sept. 29, 1909 — Jan. 19, 2002
Memorial services for Ruth Davis Kutzschbach, 92, of Houston are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church of Bryan.
The Rev. Robert Leslie will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kutzschbach died Saturday in Houston.
She was born in Port Arthur and lived in Houston since 1997. She lived in Bryan from 1946 to 1997 and was a retired teacher. She attended Southwestern University and was a graduate of Southern Methodist University. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta and The Women’s Club of Bryan. She taught elementary school in Mexia, Olney and Taylor and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ernst Kutzschbach Sr.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, William E. Kutzschbach Jr. of Huntsville and George F. and Jean Kutzschbach of Houston; and a grandchild.

Leon C. Ranson

Services for Leon C. Ranson, 91, of McAllen and formerly of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of College Station.
The Rev. David Rowland of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the College Station City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
Mr. Ranson died Thursday in McAllen.
He was born in Cleburne, Texas, and lived in McAllen three years. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1932. He was the captain of the 1932 National Champion International Livestock Judging Team and was president of the State of Texas 4-H Club in 1927. He served as county agent of Armstrong and Floyd counties until 1946 when he entered the retail agriculture business in Levelland, Texas. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of College Station and was a member of the First Baptist Church of McAllen.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva B. Ranson of McAllen; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Hillry and Gail Ranson of McAllen; a sister, Jean Sanders of Lamesa, Texas; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Elvira Treto

HEARNE — Graveside services for Elvira Treto, 87, of Calvert are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the St. Jose Cemetery in Hearne.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.
Miss Treto died Sunday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
She was born in McGregor, Texas, and was a homemaker.
Survivors include a brother, Frank Treto of Calvert.
Arthur Richard Theis

HEARNE — Services for Arthur Richard Theis, 86, of Hearne are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Hearne.
The Revs. James R. Heffington Jr. of West Oaks Baptist Church of Bryan and C.D. Walker of Bethel Baptist Church of Dallas will officiate. Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.
Mr. Theis died Sunday at Renaissance Villa in Rockdale.
He was born in Muskogee, Okla., and was a lifelong resident of Hearne. He was retired after 33 years’ service with Southern Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hearne and the CCC.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Ara Theis; and a son, James Richard Theis Sr.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Grace Marie and Kenneth Smith and Artie Floyce Theis, all of Farmers Branch, Texas, and Jane Ann and Bruce Smith of Bryan; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Doris Theiss of Hearne, Robert and Frances Theiss of San Angelo and Harry and Nell Theiss of Bryan; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cossairt died Wednesday at her home.
She was born in New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Cossairt.
Survivors include two sons, Leland Jolly of Tucson, Ariz., and Larry Jolly of Phoenix; a sister, Norma Roberts of Hearne; a brother, William Compton of Roswell, N.M.; four grandsons; and two great-grandsons.

Rosie Pratt

NAVASOTA — Services for Rosie Pratt, 83, of Navasota are set for noon Wednesday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Courtney.
The Rev. J. Phillips of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Stonehamville Cemetery in Stoneham, Texas.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota and from 11 a.m. to the time of services Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Pratt died Thursday in Diagnostic Hospital in Houston.
She was born in Grimes County and was a lifelong resident of Navasota. She was a homemaker and was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Pratt Jr.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Pratt and Michael Pratt, both of Navasota; seven daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra White, Easter Nobles, Rose and Robert Farmer, Ida and Kayode P. Longe, Erma Jones and Doris Alexander, all of Houston, and Gwendolyn Byrd of Missouri City, Texas; two brothers, John Henry Chatman of Houston and Elbert Chatman of Los Angeles; 31 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Eva Lee Simmons

ROCKDALE — Services for Eva Lee Simmons, 99, of Rockdale are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
The Rev. Johnny Moon will officiate. Burial will be in the Adina Cemetery in the Adina community of Lee County.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Simmons died Sunday in Richards Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Emmett, Ark., and lived in Rockdale since 1971. She formerly lived in Cameron and Taylor, Texas. She was the owner and operator of the Simmons Second Hand Store in Rockdale and was known as the “apron lady” in Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Simmons; a son, Alvin James Simmons; and a daughter, Ruth Helen Donworth.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Evans of Milano, Margie Woods and Avon Bacak, both of Glendale, Ariz.; 22 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 58 great-great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-great-grandchildren.
Frank Styles Blue Jr.

BRENHAM — A memorial service for Frank Styles Blue Jr., 73, of Brenham will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Independence Baptist Church. D. Strickland of Independence Baptist Church and Chuck Miller of San Antonio will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Santana Funeral Home in Houston.
Mr. Blue died Wednesday at the Houston Veterans Administration Hospital.
He was born in Navasota and attended Independence schools in Brenham and Blinn College. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-55 and was an auto mechanic.
Survivors include his son, Michael C. Blue of Brenham; his daughter and son-in-law, Karin Ann and Wade King of Brenham; his brother, Marion G. Blue of Independence; and four grandchildren.
