LYONS — Services for Susie E. Roberson, 75, of Lyons are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lyons. Rev. Basil Lister will officiate. Burial will be in the Lyons Community Cemetery.Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Branford Dawson Funeral Home in Temple. Mrs. Roberson died Friday at her residence.
She was born in Burleson County and was a lifetime resident. She worked at Texas A&M University and Redman Industries, attended Emmitt Scott High in Somerville and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lyons, where she served as church secretary for 40 years.
Survivors include her husband, Jessie “J.C.” Roberson of Lyons; her son, Royce Dorsey of Lyons; her daughter, Shirley Jackson of Lyons; her brother, A.D. Dawson of Houston; her sister, Olivette Woods of Pasco, Wash.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Cindy Emery

HOUSTON — A memorial service for Cindy Emery, 45, of Houston is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bethel Temple, 2608 Villa Maria Rd. in Bryan.
Arrangements are under the direction of National Funeral Home in Houston.
Ms. Emery died Tuesday in the Parkway Hospital in Houston.
She was born in Milwaukee, Wisc. She was self-employed and was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include her parents, Dewayne and Tempie Emery of Onalaska; her daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Brian Meuth of Needville; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Yvette Schneider of Needville and Shawn and Brooke Schneider of Richmond; her two sisters, Cynthia Emery and Connie Vinton; her four brothers, Daryl Emery, Larry Emery, Merrlyn Emery and Dewayne Emery Jr.; and three grandchildren.
Cole ‘Jody’ Clossin

REDLAND COMMUNITY — A memorial service for Cole “Jody” Clossin, 42, of the Redland community is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville. Rev. Larry Ashley of First Baptist Church in Centerville will officiate.
Mr. Clossin died December 29 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Born in Houston, he was raised in Centerville and as an engineer traveled the world working for various oil and power companies. He had worked in Japan the past several months. Mr. Clossin was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Clossin of Bryan; his two sons, Colt Hardee Clossin and Coy Lyn Clossin; his daughter, Courtlyn Nicole Clossin, all of the Redland community; his father, Joe Clossin of the Redland community; his grandmothers, Valda Hardee and Alice Clossin, both of the Redland community; his two brothers and sister-in-law, Tod Clossin of the Redland community and Chad and Michelle Clossin of Centerville; and several nieces and one nephew.

Walter Amos ‘Doc’ Jones

CENTERVILLE — Services for Walter Amos “Doc” Jones, 74, of Centerville are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville. Rev. Ward Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the Two Mile Cemetery in Leona.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Jones died Sunday at his residence in Centerville.
He was born in Centerville and attended school at Pleasant Ridge. He later moved to Houston, where he worked in the construction industry as a laborer. He lived in Centerville for the past 20 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his two brothers and sister-in-law, Jolden and Pearlie Jones of Fort Worth and Rubin Jones of Madisonville; his two sisters, Dorothy Johnson and Pearlean Polk, both of Centerville; his sister-in-law, Evelyn Jones of Leona; and a host of relatives.
Rev. Ella Mae Hampton
June 2, 1919 — Jan. 16, 2002
MADISONVILLE — Services for the Rev. Ella Mae Hampton, 82, of Madisonville are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Madisonville Funeral Home. The Rev. Larry Pinkard of First Assembly of God Church in Madisonville will officiate. Burial will be in the Madisonville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Rev. Hampton died Wednesday in the Madison Care Center.
She was born in Jozye and was a lifelong resident of Madison County. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Madisonville and was a minister of this denomination for about 50 years, having graduated from the Southwestern Bible College in Waxahachie. She worked at the Daniels Children’s Home in Oakwood and Fairfield and at the Madisonville Nursing Home.
Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Vera and Olan Stanley of Georgetown; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.
Bernice Nelms

Services for Bernice Nelms, 73, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at New Chapel Baptist Church. Rev. Clifton Stewart of Mt. Olive Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.
Mrs. Nelms died Saturday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
Born in Hearne, she was a lifetime resident of Bryan and was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Nelms.
Survivors include her four sons, Eugene Nelms Jr., James Nelms, William Nelms and Michael Nelms, all of Bryan; her four daughters, Larine Brown, Gloria Moore, Mary Ester Nelms Garner and Delores Taylor, all of Bryan; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Herman David Cole

MADISONVILLE — Services for Herman David Cole, 88, of Madisonville are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Ten Mile Church. Burial will be in the Ten Mile Cemetery in Normangee. Lanier Stevens will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville.
Mr. Cole died Thursday.
He was born in Normangee and was a retired self-employed cattle truck driver.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Bobby Tinsley of Madisonville; his foster son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Cheryl Morgan of Palestine; his two brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell (Ben) and Bobbie Cole of Normangee and Herbert Ray and Golda Cole of College Station; his two sisters, Mary Lou Dawkins of Normangee and Azeal Musgrove of Huntsville; and several grandchildren.
Edna Marie Mikeska

FRANKLIN — Edna Marie Mikeska, 62, of Franklin died Wednesday.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m., at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.
Mrs. Mikeska was born in Philadelphia, Pa. She was a nurse and was employed at Calvert Nursing Home. She had been a resident of Franklin for the past nine years, having previously living in Tabor.
Survivors include her husband, Joe W. Mikeska of Franklin; her son, Ted Mikeska of Franklin; her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary A. and John O’Neill Sr. of Franklin and Marie E. and Jerry Mayfield of Austin; her three brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul P. and Shirley Comly of Austin, Francis P. and Janice Comly of Franklin and Philip L. and Gayle Comly of Franklin; two grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews.

MIDWAY — Services for Thomas Overton, 83, of Midway are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Antoch Church of Christ in Midway. Brother Howard Watson will officiate. Burial will be in the Midway Cemetery.

Mr. Overton died Wednesday at Memorial Southwest Hospital in Houston.
He was born in Madison County. He was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie B. Thomas of Midway; his son, Ocie B. Melvin of Houston; his daughters, Wilma, Patsy, Margaret, and Cheryl, all of Houston; his sister, Hattie Johnson of Houston; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
John E. Lewis

SOMERVILLE — Services for John E. Lewis, 50, of Somerville are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Snook Brethren Church.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. A prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Lewis died Thursday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.
He was born in Brenham and was a graduate of Somerville High School. He was a self-employed fence builder, the director of the Burleson County Fair Association, a member of the Salt Grass Trail Riders Association and a member of Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Lewis of Somerville; a daughter and son-in-law, Jonna and Randall See of Bryan; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Justin and Loree Lewis of Snook and Charles Lewis and Colton Lewis, both of Somerville; his mother, Lottie Lewis of Somerville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia Crawford of Houston, Carol Sue and Sammy Brinkman of Somerville, Brenda and Dale Schoenberg of Somerville and Teresa and Guy Hargrove of Somerville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Kim Lewis of Somerville and Glenn and Barbara Lewis of Fresno, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Betty Lou Whatley Blair

Mrs. Blair died Thursday in Richards.
She was born in Mountain Home and was a retired sales clerk at Clint’s Supermarket. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her son, Clinton Anthony Blair of Richards; three daughters and son-in-law, Angela and Micheal Doneske of The Woodlands, Celia Kay Blair of Devine and Daelila Blair of Willis; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Charles and Mary Whatley of Richards and Houston and Sherly Whatley of Conroe; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous other relatives.
D.L. ‘Dick’ Knight

NAVASOTA — Services for D.L. “Dick” Knight, 89, of Navasota are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota. Rev. Ross Poteet of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday with the family present at Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Knight died Thursday at the College Station Medical Center.
Born in Marfa, he was retired from Gulf State Utilities and was a city councilman for two terms. Mr. Knight was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Fay Knight.
Survivors include his two sons and daughter-in-law, Bob R. and Monte Knight of Huntsville and Bill Knight of Houston; a daughter-in-law, Eberle Knight of Houston; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Magee Knight of Fort Davis; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
