Nona Amy Taylor

COLUMBUS, Texas — Services for Nona Amy Taylor, 91, of Columbus and formerly of Houston are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington. The Rev. Bob Parrott, a retired Methodist minister, will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Taylor died Tuesday at the River Oaks Health Care Center in Columbus.
She was born in Lee County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Taylor was a life member of Christ United Methodist Church in Houston and a volunteer at Golden Age Manor in Houston and Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernice R. Taylor.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Angelene and Don Legg of Tucker, Ga., Maurene and Homer Lange of Oldenburg, Texas, and Conneen and Willard Lange of Eagle Lake, Texas; three sisters, Gertrude Quinney and Gladys Taylor, both of Lexington, and Pauline Reynolds of Houston; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Clarence Eugene Charanza
June 21, 1931 — Feb. 13, 2002
CALDWELL — Services for Clarence Eugene Charanza, 70, of Caldwell are set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell. The Revs. Dimitrij Colankin and Henry Beseda will officiate. Burial will be in the New Tabor Cemetery.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Mr. Charanza died Wednesday at his home.
He was born in the Birch community and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, receiving a Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Medal and a National Defense Medal. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus and the V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Charanza of Caldwell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Kay Charanza of Caldwell and Kenneth and Mundee Charanza of Houston; two brothers, Joe Charanza of Caldwell and Edwin Charanza of Temple; a sister-in-law, Gladys Garbs of Caldwell; a brother-in-law, Sonny Ondrasek of Caldwell; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Hospice Brazos Valley.
Mary Asberry
Jan. 20, 1909 — Feb. 5, 2002
Services for Mary Asberry, 93, of Bryan are set for noon Saturday at Peaceful Rest Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. C.E. Jefferson will officiate. Burial will be in the Wixon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Peoples Mortuary in Bryan.
Mrs. Asberry died Feb. 5 at her home.
She was a lifetime resident of Brazos County and was a member of Peaceful Rest Baptist Church.
Mrs. Asberry was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Asberry.
Survivors include three sons, Willie J. Asberry of Gardenia, Calif., Frank Asberry of Los Angeles and Otis Asberry of Bryan; four daughters, Irish J. Bishop of Houston, Lillie Marshall of Los Angeles, Myrtle Asberry of Bryan and Helen Williams of College Station; 29 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Chong Suk McMahon
Jan. 27, 1955 — Feb. 11, 2002
NORTH ZULCH — A memorial service for Chong Suk McMahon, 47, of North Zulch is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith Baptist Church in Madisonville.
The Rev. Donnie Foster will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Mrs. McMahon died Monday at her home.
She was born in South Korea and lived in Madison County for the past 10 years. Mrs. McMahon was a member of the Brazos De Dios (H.O.G. Chapter #4985) and the Texas Association of Buckskinners Re-enactment Group. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Madisonville.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry McMahon of North Zulch; a son, Andrew James Anglin of Florida; a stepson, Scott McMahon of North Zulch; and a stepdaughter, Kelli McMahon of Bryan.

Freemond Dixon

CALVERT — Services for Freemond Dixon, 96, of Calvert are set for 11 a.m. Friday at St. Luke Baptist Church in Red Hill.
The Rev. James Baker will officiate. Burial will be in the Beauty Rest Cemetery in Calvert.
Arrangements are under the direction of Robertson Funeral Home in Marlin.
Mrs. Dixon died Saturday at Calvert Nursing Center.
She was born in Red Hill.

Hoard, both of Denver, and Jimmie E. and Aaron Britton of Hearne; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Richard Patrick Maher
March 17, 1928 — Feb. 13, 2002
MERRIMAC, Wis. — A mass for Richard Patrick Maher, 73, of Merrimac is set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the St. Mary’s Health of the Sick Catholic Church in Merrimac. Burial will be in the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Suttons Bay, Mich.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Gnewikow-Hooverson Funeral Home in Sauk City, Wis.
Mr. Maher died Wednesday.
He was born in Detroit and obtained degrees in law and architectural engineering from the University of Detroit. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and was a professor of construction science and of civil engineering at Texas A&M University, becoming a professor emeritus. Mr. Maher was a member of the Association of General Contractors, the Michigan Bar Assocation and the American Arbitration Association.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Mellin Maher of Merrimac; three sons, Henry L. Maher of Hilliard, Ohio, Dr. Joseph F. Maher of Richland, Miss., and the Rev. Thomas P. Maher of Hales Corners, Wis.; two daughters, Nancy Jacob of Barrington, Ill., and Dr. Margaret Maher-Robinson of Onalaska, Wis.;a sister, Margaret Gnau of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Sudie Williams

MADISONVILLE — Services for Sudie Williams, 82, of Madisonville are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Antioch Church of Christ in Midway. Howard Watson will officiate. Burial will be in the Southside Cemetery in Midway.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Madisonville Funeral Home.
Mrs. Williams died Saturday at her home.
She was a lifetime resident of Madison County and was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, D.C. Williams.
Survivors include two daughters, Sudie M. Burns of Midway and Syble Johnson of Madisonville; two stepdaughters, Lucille Allen of Houston and Thelma Williams of Houston; and five grandchildren.
Christine M. Rhodes

JEWETT — Services for Christine M. Rhodes, 88, of Jewett are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Little Flock Baptist Church in Jewett.
The Revs. Jimmy Petty of Teague Bible Church and Ray Grissett of Little Flock Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Little Flock Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Ricks Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mrs. Rhodes died Thursday at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia.
She was born in Jewett and worked as a supervisor in the food service department at the Mexia State School for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Little Flock Baptist Church and attended the Teague Bible Church.
Mrs. Rhodes was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Rhodes.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Hancock and Joe Dwain of Lake Limestone; a sister-in-law, MesCal Holmes of Mount Sterling, Ky.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Beverly Ann Reagan

BALD PRAIRIE COMMUNITY — A memorial service for Beverly Ann Reagan, 64, of the Bald Prairie community in Robertson County is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Marlin.

Mrs. Reagan died Wednesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.
Born in Kerrville, she was a graduate of Tivy High School in Kerrville and attended the University of Texas at Austin. She was a resident of Robertson County for the past seven years. Mrs. Reagan was Methodist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Glynn Reagan.
Survivors include a son, John Reagan of Bald Prairie; a brother, Joseph Luther of Lincoln, Neb.; a grandson; a stepgranddaughter; and a host of other relatives.
Judy Brininger

CALDWELL — A memorial service for Judy Brininger, 49, of Caldwell is set for 3 p.m. Saturday at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell.
Mrs. Brininger died Wednesday in a Houston hospital.
She was born in Brownsville.
Survivors include her husband, Stephen Brininger of Caldwell; a son, Eric Louviere of College Station; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Stephen Courtney of Caldwell; four stepdaughters and a stepson-in-law, Jessica and Doyle Duncan of Silva, Mo.; and Sabrina Brininger, Traci Brininger and Stephanie Brininger; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lisa Ann and Rey Roman of Caldwell and Ida Crawford of Texarkana; six grandchildren; and five nephews and two nieces.
