HOUSTON — Services for Verna J. Day, 62, of Houston are set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church in Millican. The Rev. R.E. Daniels will officiate. Burial will be in the Barker Cemetery in Millican.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota. The body will lie in state from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in Houston at Garden of Gethsemane Baptist Church, 4715 Grigg Road, and a memorial service will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Garden of Gethsemane Baptist Church.
Mrs. Day died Tuesday at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.
She was born in Brazos County and was a nurse.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Lee Day of Houston; a son, Michael Johnson of Houston; a brother, James Charles Hester of Houston; two sisters, Velma Russell and Ethel Champion, both of Dallas; her mother, Bernice Hester of Dallas; and one grandchild.
Uldene H. McIntyre
June 20, 1922 — March 28, 2002
Services for Uldene H. McIntyre, 79, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home. Family members of Mrs. McIntyre will be officiating. Burial will be in the College Station Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. McIntyre died Thursday at St. Joseph Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Bedias and was a homemaker and Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in College Station.
Survivors include her husband, David McIntyre of College Station; a son and daughter-in-law, David H. and Cathy McIntyre of Lake Ridge, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, D’Layne and John Fargason of Yuma, Ariz.; two brothers, Harold Harrison of Bellville, Texas, and Charlie Harrison of Bedias; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert Andrews
Dec. 6, 1922 — March 27, 2002
WIXON VALLEY — Services for Robert Andrews, 79, of Wixon Valley are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Bryan. The Rev. Rob Chandler will officiate. Burial will be in the Wixon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
Mr. Andrews died Wednesday in New Orleans, La.
He was born in Garrett, Ind., and lived in Wixon Valley since 1974. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater and also during the Korean War. He retired after 23 years of service as chief boatswain mate. He also worked as a bulk plant manager for both Western Company of North America and B.J. Services. He also was in charge of dispatch at B.J. Services before he retired in 1989.
Mr. Andrews was past president of the Wixon Valley Area Community Club and a member of the First Christian Church in Bryan.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Andrews of Wixon Valley; a son and daughter-in-law, Allen Leigh and Angela Andrews of Austin; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa and David Jenkins of Victoria, Texas, and Theral Medford of Grand Prairie, Texas; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ralph and Mary Andrews of Newport Richy, Fla., Carl Andrews of Garrett, Ind., and Erle and Frankie Andrews of Garrett; and five grandchildren.

Luis J. Lugo Sr.
June 21, 1947 — March 27, 2002
ROCKDALE — Services for Luis J. Lugo Sr., 54, of Rockdale are set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rockdale. Burial will be in Mexico.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Mr. Lugo died Wednesday at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
He was born in Durango, Durango, Mexico. He worked at RCI in Rockdale as a laborer for four years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Cortinas.
Survivors include a son, Luis J. Lugo Jr. of Rockdale; three brothers, Isidro Martinez Rocha of Durango, Jaime Lugo Rocha of Nognes, Mexico, and Victor Manuel Lugo Rocha of Sonora, Mexico; and two sisters, Regina Moreno Rocha and Raquel Lugo Carreon, both of Durango.
Ira Taylor

NAVASOTA — Services for Ira Taylor, 72, of Navasota are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Navasota. The Rev. Samuel Sauls Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Mason Cemetery in Anderson.

Mr. Taylor died Wednesday.
He was born in Grimes County and was a lifetime resident. He was a farmer.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Taylor and John and Mary White, all of Huntsville; seven daughters and four sons-in-law, Brenda and Isaac Edwards of Huntsville, Kathy Taylor of Dallas, Anita Taylor of Huntsville, Mary White of Pasadena, Rose and Tommy Granville of Houston, Bobbie and Israel Liggins of Huntsville and Louise and John Thomas of Conroe; a brother, Emmitt Edwards of Navasota; four sisters, Ida Sauls, Mattie Berry, Vesta Lee and Ruthie Sauls, all of Navasota; and 19 grandchildren.
Carl Ward

PLANTERSVILLE — Services for Carl Ward, 47, of Plantersville are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota. The Rev. Mike Williams of Plantersville Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Plantersville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Ward died Wednesday at The Woodlands.
He was born in Whitney and was a shop foreman for a battery company. Mr. Ward was a Baptist.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce and Fawne Ward of Willis, Texas, and Chase Ward of Tomball; a brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Tammy Ward of Plantersville; two sisters, Mitzi Williams and Lona Goodson, both of Plantersville; his parents, Walter H. and Margaret L. Ward of Plantersville; and three grandchildren.

Hubert Eldie Brinkmann

CALDWELL — Services for Hubert Eldie Brinkmann, 73, of Caldwell are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
The Rev. Steve Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Brinkmann died Thursday in Burleson St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell.
He was a retired carpenter and was a Lutheran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbye Louise Brinkmann.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Hubert E. Jr. and Patricia Brinkmann of Spring, Texas, and Karl D. Brinkmann of Bryan; seven sisters, Lizzie Mickelson, Nellie Faye Brinkmann, Lina Brinkmann and Ida Mae Odom, all of Caldwell, Nora May Hein of Somerville, Hilda Strong and Annie Hicks, both of Temple; and a grandson.
Shirley Decker

ROCKDALE — Services for Shirley Decker, 65, of Euless, Texas, are set for 3 p.m. Saturday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
The Rev. Roy Brewton will officiate. Burial will be in the Rockdale I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Ms. Decker died Tuesday at her home.
She was born in Thornton and lived in Euless for 31 years. She formerly lived in Addicks, Texas; Houston; Irving, Texas; Florida; and Cedar Creek Lake, Texas. She was a dental assistant for 16 years. She attended Calvary Temple Church in Irving and worked with children as a volunteer at area hospitals.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Alisa Decker of Justin, Texas, and Tommy Andrews of La Porte, Texas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Georgina Decker and Kevin Reynolds of Louisiana and Monica Grigsby of Rio Grande City, Texas; her mother, Della Brock of Rockdale; a brother, Duerell Brock of Washington; two sisters, Nell Wiley of Rockdale and Aline Graham of Bryan; and two grandchildren.
Eutha Winfrey Hamilton
May 22, 1917 — March 26, 2002
HARLINGEN — Memorial services for Eutha Winfrey Hamilton, 84, of Harlingen are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Harlingen.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Fairview Cemetery in Richards.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen.
Mrs. Hamilton died Tuesday in Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen.
She was born in Troy, Texas, and lived in Harlingen for many years. She graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown with a B.A. and taught school in Hempstead. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Harlingen and sang in the choir. She played the organ, piano and violin and was a P.E.O. sister in the Valley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Oscar A. Hamilton.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William Nelson and Marilyn Hamilton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Ann and Peter Blackstock, Mary Catherine and Will McCulloch and Sally Ann and Mike Nagy; a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Fred Mehlman of Maryland; a brother and sister-in-law, Hill and Billie Katherine Winfrey of Bay City; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Grady and Drucilla Anderson of Georgetown; seven grandchildren, a great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Jenkins died Friday in Richards Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Milam County and was a lifelong resident of Rockdale. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. “Bill” Jenkins.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Sherry Jenkins of Rockdale; two sisters, Irene Henry and Josephine Doss, both of Rockdale; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
