ROCKDALE — Services for Jack D. Bird, 70, of Rockdale are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
The Rev. Doug Springer of the Rockdale Full Gospel Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Davilla Cemetery in Davilla.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Bird died Tuesday at his home.
He was born in Meade, Kan., and lived in Rockdale since 1993. He formerly lived in Houston for many years and retired in 1993 as a heavy equipment operator for Dunn Equipment in Texas City. He worked with the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and the United Way. He was a member of Local 450 International Union of Operating Engineers for 24 years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Bird.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Bird of Rockdale; a son, Keith Tusing of Garland; a daughter, Pamela Sauce of Houma, La.; a brother, Donald R. Bird of Houston; and two sisters, Helen Rice of New Caney and Twylah Hill of Powder Springs, Ga.

James Glenn Martin

FRANKLIN — Services for James Glenn Martin, 22, of Franklin are set for 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Franklin.
The Rev. Jim Manning and Justice Anderson of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Franklin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to the time of services Friday at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Bremond Funeral Home.
Mr. Martin died Tuesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
He was born in Bryan and was a lifelong resident of Franklin. He worked for B.J. Hughes Oil Field Service Company.
Survivors include his wife, Candice Martin of Franklin; a son, Don Martin of Franklin; his parents, Don and Teresa Martin of Franklin; and a sister, Brooke Martin of Franklin.

Nora A. ‘Pat’ McConnell

CALDWELL — Graveside services for Nora A. “Pat” McConnell, 73, of Deanville are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the San Antonio Prairie Cemetery near Caldwell.
The Rev. Ralph Powers will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Mrs. McConnell died Tuesday at her home.
She was born in Burleson County and was a homemaker. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post No. 4458 and was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johny C. McConnell.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Paul Galloway of Lockhart and Vivian and Carl Steplock of Hot Springs, Ark.; a brother, Walter Wilson of Somerville; a sister, Mary Douglas of Deanville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Aaron Morgan

NAVASOTA — Graveside services for Aaron Morgan, 82, formerly of Roans Prairie are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Singleton Cemetery in Singleton.
Deacon Peter Sechelski of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plantersville will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.
Mr. Morgan died Tuesday in Grimes St. Joseph Health Center.
He was born in Roans Prairie and was retired farm worker.
Survivors include W.H. “Arch” Walkoviak of Anderson.
Lena ‘Lana’ Mae Morris

NAVASOTA — Services for Lena “Lana” Mae Morris, 72, of Bedias are set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson.
The Rev. Louis S. Sikorski of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Independence Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Morris died Wednesday in Stoneham.
She was born in Bedias and was a waitress at the Cow Talk Steakhouse. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Lee Morris.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Lee and Elaine Morris of Houston and Steve and Amy Morris of Bedias; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Terry Sharp of Willis, Peggy and Bob Sharp of Lago Vista and Donna and Ted Burzynski of Stoneham; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Samuel and Bert Ross of Houston and Minor and Vera Ross of Livingston; two sisters, Jane Gunnels of Humble and Grace Ross of Dallas; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Herbert Sebesta
March 31, 1935 — March 11, 2002
CALDWELL — Services for Herbert Sebesta, 66, of Snook are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Elizabeth Lutheran Church in Caldwell.
The Revs. Lawrence Bade and Bill Gaskamp will officiate. Burial will be in the Snook Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Mr. Sebesta died Monday in Bryan.
He was a lifelong resident of Snook and was retired from Mitchell Gas where he served as a gas pipeline supervisor. He was a founding and current director of the First Bank of Snook and was a charter member of the Snook Lion’s Club. He served with the Burleson County Fair Association Youth Livestock Auction for many years and also served on various committees and organizations in the community. He was a member of Elizabeth Lutheran Church and served on various church committees.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Sebesta.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Kuecker Sebesta of Snook; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and John McNair of Snook; a daughter-in-law, Katheryn Sebesta of Snook; his mother, Emmagene Sebesta of Snook; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Elizabeth Lutheran Church or to a charity of choice.
Jack M. ‘Recie’ Smith

Memorial services for Jack M. “Recie” Smith, 73, of Centerville are set for noon Friday at the American Heritage Chapel in Houston.
Burial will be in the Houston National Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Mr. Smith died Saturday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
He was born in Austin and was a truck driver. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Smith of Centerville; a daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Mike Smith of Humble; a brother, M.L. Smith of Houston; a sister, Bessie Jean Holzfaster of Livingston; two grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Emma Harriet Rice

Graveside services for Emma Harriet Rice, 87, of Bryan are set for noon Saturday at the San Jacinto Cemetery in Houston.
The Rev. Wayne Moss of the First Assembly of God Church in Channelview will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
Mrs. Rice died Thursday in St. Joseph Manor.
She was born in the Oyster Creek area of Brazoria County and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in College Station. She was a homemaker and a LVN nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Rice.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Warren W. and Martha Rice of Salisbury, N.C., and Britt and Kay Rice of College Station; a daughter and son-in-law, Judi and Lou Heidemann of Village Mills, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Regan and Lurlyne Hudgins of Pasadena; a sister and brother-in-law, Edith and George Payne of Lake Jackson, Texas; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
