FLOSSIE ELTZROTH BONE CRANE
Flossie Crane, age 96, passed away at home Tuesday, September 10, 2002, at 6B Cedar Court, Lebanon, Ohio, of congestive heart failure. The daughter of Benjamin and Alice (Little) Eltzroth, both born before the Civil War, she was the youngest of 13 children, having 9 brothers and 1 sister survive infancy, all having predeceased her. She leaves behind her two sons, Eric and Terry Bone, and her beloved husband, Robert Crane, as well as her step-daughter, Nancy Crane Cunningham, of Long Beach, California. Although she outlived many friends and relatives, she leaves quite a few to mourn her passing, both in Texas where she lived for almost 30 years, as well as in Ohio.
Her early adult years were devoted to caring for and supporting her aging parents and to attending and teaching Sunday School at the Lebanon Methodist Church with a perfect attendance record for over 25 years. She also loved and was accomplished as a ballroom dancer with her dance card usually among the first filled. She married C. Harold Bone of Lebanon in 1937, had two children, and, due to a wartime job requirement, the family moved first to Galena Park, Texas in 1942, and, shortly thereafter, to Baytown, Texas. They helped organize the Lebanon Little Theatre in the ‘30s as well as the Baytown Little Theatre in the ‘60s. They were both very active in all aspects of the theatre.
After being widowed in 1966, she married old friend Robert Crane in 1970 and returned to Ohio. They shared a great love for gardening and for the city of Lebanon.
She was well known nationally for her achievements in flower arranging and horticulture. She was an accredited flower show judge with both a National Masters and Life Certificate in flower arranging and taught these skills for many years.
Her other great love in this life was for animals. She could never turn away a stray cat or dog and provided many of them with lives fit for a king.
She loved life and was most dedicated and devoted to providing a loving and rich family environment for us all. She was our blessing and will be eternally missed.
Services were held in Lebanon on September 13. The family requests donations to the wonderful people at Hospice of Cincinnati, 4310 Cooper Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45242, in lieu of flowers.
