Darrow Fulton

March 16, 1926 — April 7, 2002

FRANKLIN — Graveside services for Darrow Fulton, 76, of Franklin are set for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Franklin.

The Rev. C.E. Barnett will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.

Mr. Fulton died Sunday in Temple.

He was born in Robertson County and was a lifelong resident of Franklin. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1943 and served in the U.S. Army, receiving a Purple Heart. He was a member of the New Baden Baptist Church and the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, Reba McLeroy Fulton of Franklin; a daughter, Karen Smitherman of Franklin; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Alan Fulton and Kevin and Bethany Fulton, all of Franklin; a sister, Mavis Jefferies of Alvin, Texas; three brothers, Andrew Fulton of Franklin, Jack Fulton of Hearne and Ernest Fulton of New Baden; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eleanor Glenn Hanover Nance

March 18, 1920 — March 27, 2002

Services for Eleanor Glenn Hanover Nance, 82, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in College Station.

The Rev. Ben Aurand of St. Thomas Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Wheelock Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. Nance died March 27 in Seville, Ohio.

She was born in McGregor, Texas, and retired in 1992 after 27 years of service with the Sterling Evans Library at Texas A&M University as head of the Gifts & Exchange Department. She received a B.A. from Mary Hardin-Baylor University. She was one of the organizers and directors of the Junior Museum of Natural History in Bryan and was a member of the Brazos County Survey Committee. She was a longtime member and officer of the Daughters of the American Revolution, National League of Pen Women, AAUW, UDC, Kappa Phi, Phi Gamma Mu, Sigma Tau Delta, Poetry Society and the Fine Arts Council at Texas A&M University. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Milton Nance.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Babette Nance and Joe and Barbara Nance, all of Bryan, and Jim and Eileen Nance of Westfield Center, Ohio; a sister, Elizabeth Corder of Brady, Texas; a sister-in-law, Attadell Hanover of Bryan; six grandchildren; and 12 nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Wheelock Cemetery Association Building Fund, P.O. Box 14, Wheelock, Texas 77882.

Johnnie Eva Person

Sept. 9, 1921 — April 4, 2002

HEARNE — Services for Johnnie Eva Person, 80, of Midland, Texas, are set for 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Calvert.

Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Robertson Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mrs. Person died Thursday at her home.

She was born in Calvert.

Survivors include a brother, Hugh Harris of Columbus, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Jackie Wright of Oakland, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Bennie Harris of Lott, Texas; caregivers, Golden Gibbs, Samuel Gibbs, Stancel Gibbs, Billy Gibbs and Allee Shaw, all of Midland; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Dorothy ‘Dot’ Worbington Demny Johnson

Oct. 13, 1923 — April 6, 2002

NAVASOTA — Services for Dorothy “Dot” Worbington Demny Johnson, 78, of Conroe are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.

The Rev. Dan Bates of Heards Prairie Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Visitation, with the family present, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnson died Saturday in Conroe.

She was born in Navasota and was a member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church. She worked for Western Union Telegraph and was a charter member of the Conroe Elks Club. She was president of the Conroe Rebekah Lodge and was a member of the Board of Realtors GRI.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Frank Demny and Elmer Johnson; and a son, Johnny Mason Demny.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Gayla and Gene Miller and Ané Wilson, all of Conroe; a brother, Jack Worbington of Bryan; a sister, Myrtle Patterson of Millican; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Worbington of Navasota; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Julian Jimenez

Oct. 18, 1985 — April 6, 2002

Services for Julian Jimenez, 16, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan.

Monsignor John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Julian died Saturday at his home.

He was a lifelong resident of Bryan and was a student at Bryan High School.

Survivors include his parents, Lorenzo and Janie Jimenez of Bryan; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Braulio and Shelby Herrera of Dallas, Gary Herrera of Fort Worth and Lorenzo Jimenez of Bryan; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Debbie and Rafael Landeros, Felicia and Tilo Sanchez, Melinda and Mario Martinez and Emilia Jimenez, all of Bryan.

Garland Earl Manning

April 8, 2002

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Services for Garland Earl Manning, 75, of New Port Richey are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home in New Port Richey.

Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Manning died Monday at the Veterans Administration Center in Bay Pines, Fla.

He was born in Macey, Texas, and lived in New Port Richey for 25 years. He formerly lived in Bryan and was a Baptist. He was retired as a technical sergeant after 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a life member of VFW Post 7987 in New Port Richey.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy L. Manning of New Port Richey; a son, Garland E. “Gary” Manning Jr. of New Port Richey; four daughters, Rebecca Rosenkranz of Bryan, Pamela Bisonette of Plano, Texas, and Janet Beich and Carol Baker, both of New Port Richey; two brothers, Robert Manning and Vernon Manning, both of Bryan; three sisters, Lilly Chamberlain of Trinity, Texas, Ruby Walters and Rebecca Houston, both of Bryan; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandsons.

Janet Kennedy Matthews

Sept. 3, 1945 — April 5, 2002

Services for Janet Kennedy Matthews, 56, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at A&M United Methodist Church in College Station.

The Rev. Deborah Proctor and Monsignor John McCaffrey will officiate. Burial will be in the College Station Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.

A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Matthews died Friday at her home.

She was born in Corpus Christi and lived in College Station since 1975. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was also a member of the P.E.O. She graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston and worked as a public health nurse for the Brazos County Health Department since 1994.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Kenneth Matthews of College Station; a son, William “Will” T. Matthews of Flower Mound, Texas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ashley and Billy Harkins of Richardson, Texas, and April Matthews of College Station; a sister, Karen Peach of Webster, Texas; her parents, John and June Kennedy of Victoria, Texas; and a grandson.

Memorials may be made to the A&M United Methodist Church Building Fund, the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund or the Susan B. Komen Foundation.

Margie Nell Myers

Dec. 4, 1937 — April 8, 2002

BREMOND — Services for Margie Nell Myers, 64, of Kosse, Texas, are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Kosse.

The Rev. C.L. Nicholas of Global Harvest Ministries in Kosse will officiate. Burial will be in Mustang Prairie Cemetery near Kosse.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bremond Funeral Home in Bremond.

Mrs. Myers died Monday at her home.

She was born in the Mustang Prairie community and was a homemaker. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, John Myers of Kosse; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donny Ray and Mary Myers of Spring, Texas, and Clarence Dale and Kay Myers of Anderson; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Ann and David Hillman of Kosse; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, William Carnes of Bremond, Johnny and Paula Carnes, James and Becky Carnes and Jimmy and Nickie Carnes, all of Houston; a sister, Bobby Garrett of Kosse; her mother, Pauline Carnes of Kosse; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
