Alma Corley Broadway Starkey

KERRVILLE — Services for Alma Corley Broadway Starkey, 89, of Kerrville and formerly of Madisonville are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Madisonville.
Dr. J.W.L. Adams and the Rev. Vaughn Tatum will officiate. Burial will be in the Oxford Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Madisonville Funeral Home.
Mrs. Starkey died Wednesday in Kerrville.
She was born in the Cottonwood community in Madison County and was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville. Mrs. Starkey was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Reed Broadway, and her second husband, J.W. Starkey.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Broadway of Kerrville; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Clifton A. ‘Charles’ Parish

BEDIAS — Services for Clifton A. “Charles” Parish, 72, of Bedias are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Madisonville Funeral Home.
The Rev. Jerald Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Bedias Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to the time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Parish died Monday at his home.
He was born in El Dorado, Ark., was formerly of Houston and was a resident of Bedias for 15 year. He worked as a pipefitter for Arco Polymer. Mr. Parish was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Paul D. and Rene Parish of Angleton, Heath E. and Christine D. Parish of North Fork. Va., and Keith D. and Marty Parish of Bedias; 10 grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Joe Marion Thomas
December 2, 1930 – November 26, 2002
Joe Marion Thomas, Sr., 71 of Houston passed away Tuesday November 26th, 2002 at home from complications of liver cancer. He was born December 2nd 1930 in Weldon, Texas to Walter Thomas & Lillie Mae Haste Thomas. He had an older brother Lewis Allen (Sparkie) and a younger sister Mary Alyce. He graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 1948, then spent 2 years attending Texas A&M University. On August 26th, 1950 he married the love of his life, Emma Jane Wilson, with whom he had three sons. Joe was an active member of St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church for 21 years and retired from Western Auto and S&B Engineers Constructors. Preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife and one son, Jerry Allen Thomas. He is survived by 2 sons, Joe Marion Thomas, Jr. & wife Betty of Houston; Jeffrey Lewis Thomas & fiancé Shelley Redden of Temple; 3 granddaughters Jennifer & Kimberly Thomas of Houston and Crystal Davlin & husband Tanner of Temple; 1 great-grandson, Braxton Davlin; & a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday November 29, 2002 from 6 – 8 PM at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday November 30, 2002 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Pat H. Foley with the Reverend Sandra Londa officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jim Alexander, Tim Brewer, Mike Buckholtz, Albert Cutter, Ken Thomas, Bill Thornton, John Thornton & Horace Thomas.
Mittie Judie Adams
Feb. 12, 1922 — Nov. 23, 2002
HEARNE — Services for Mittie Judie Adams, 80, of Hearne are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Independent Baptist Church in Hearne.
The Rev. Walter Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Robertson Funeral Chapel in Marlin and from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at Robertson Funeral Chapel in Hearne.
Mrs. Adams died Saturday in the College Station Medical Center.
She was born in Reagan.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Horatio and Pattie Adams of Trenton, N.J., Elder Henry and Mary Adams of Miami, Elder Lawrence and Delores Adams of Harmanville, Ohio, and the Rev. William and Arjorie Adams of Bryan; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Willie and James Clay, Jimmie E. Brown, and Verdell and Robert Washington, all of Marlin; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Floyd L. Judie, William and Edna Judie, and Joe Nathan Judie, all of Marlin; two stepgrandsons; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Cedric Godfrey

HEARNE — Services for Cedric Godfrey, 33, of Hearne are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Old Elam Baptist Church in Hearne.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Robertson Funeral Chapel in Hearne.
A wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Mr. Godfrey died Sunday in Austin.
Petrolino Luna
May 31, 1928 — Nov. 26, 2002
Services for Petrolino Luna, 74, of Bryan are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.
Deacon Bill Scamardo of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bryan City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Luna died Tuesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
He was a resident of Bryan 35 years and was an electrician. He was a member of Kelo Luna y Los Astros band and was a Catholic.
Survivors include three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ejinio and Felisita Luna, and Raymond and Martha Luna, all of Bryan, and Pedro and Camelia Luna of Plainview; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Maria and Raymond Torres of Michigan, Cruz Davilla and Suzie and Tony Trevino, all of Amarillo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jessie F. Shimshack
Nov. 11, 1930 — Nov. 27, 2002
NAVASOTA — Services for Jessie F. Shimshack, 72, of Navasota are set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church in White Hall.
The Rev. Wayne E. Schumpe of Salem Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.
Mr. Shimshack died Wednesday in Navasota.
He was born in Anderson and was a retired mechanic. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and VFW Post No. 4006. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Wehmeier Shimshack of Navasota; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Cynthia Shimshack, Richard Shimshack, and Mark and Meribeth Shimshack, all of Navasota; four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Leroy Nobles, Gloria and Ricky Clepper, Alice and Donnie Mock, and Reba and Dean Zwahr, all of Navasota; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Christina Pasket of Anderson, Ruth Lee of Navasota, and Cecile and Chavis Lindley of Wright City, Okla.; a brother and three sisters-in-law, Joe and Audrey Shimshack of New Orleans, La., Elminia Shimshack of Navasota and Doris Shimshack of Bryan; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

M. Eddie Willis Jr.

NAVASOTA — Services for M. Eddie Willis Jr., 61, of Navasota are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Missionary Camp Baptist Church in Navasota.
The Rev. James Mable will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Friday at the church.
A wake service will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Psalms Funeral Home of Conroe.
Mr. Willis died Sunday.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Dorothy and Ernest Jacobs and Cheryl Willis; a son, Fredrick Willis; his mother, Lillie Mae Willis; his mother-in-law, Hattie Monroe; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian and Johnnie Wesley, Mary and Robert Thompson, Sallie and Rickey Williams and Annie and Clarence Brooks; two brothers and a sister-in-law, George and Beverly Willis and Robert Willis; four grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
Elsie Halyard
April 21, 1913 – November 29, 2002
Elsie Halyard, 89, of Bryan, died Friday morning from complications of Alzheimer’s’ Disease. Services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 1, 2002 at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Osborne and Rev. Tim Skaggs officiating. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.
Mrs. Halyard was a long-time resident of Bryan and was a member of Central Baptist Church for many years. She most recently had made her home at Crestview Retirement Community. She was a retired office worker for the Texas A&M Extension Service and was the caregiver for her husband, A.B. Halyard, and her mother, Josie Johnston, until their deaths.
Survivors include her son, Tommy Halyard of the Atlanta, Georgia area.

Dorothy Love Wood Partin

Services for Dorothy Love Wood Partin, 67, of Porter, Texas, are set for 2 p.m. Sunday, December 1 at the Huntsville Funeral Home Chapel in Huntsville, Texas.
Burial will be in Farris Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Partin will lie in state through out the remainder of the day.
Mrs. Partin died Wednesday in Houston, Texas.
She was born in Walker County, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Georgia Love; three brothers, Lanny Love, G.D. Love and Weldon Love; and her husband, Georgie Wood.
Survivors include her husband, Benny Partin of Porter, Texas; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Raymond and Debbie Wood of Bryan, Texas, and Perry Wood of Huntsville, Texas; a daughter, Janice Wood of Humble, Texas; three granddaughters, Kathryn Wood Sheppard of San Marcos, Texas, Ellen Wood of Summerville and Tessa Bryant of The Woodlands, Texas; a great-granddaughter, Caitlin Sheppard of San Marcos, Texas; a great-great-grandson, Alton Love; three sisters, Molly Sylvester, Audrey Mayfield and Ruby Holder; four brothers, Wayne Love, Lloyd Love, Jimmy Love and Butch Love; and many nieces and nephews.
