May 8, 1918 — Nov. 22, 2002

NORMANGEE — Services for Ina Cavanaugh, 84, of Hilltop Lakes are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the Hilltop Lakes Chapel.

Bob Kristensen will officiate. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Forest Park Cemetery in Houston.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.

Mrs. Cavanaugh died Friday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Marksville, La., and was a secretary for many years at Union Carbide. She was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Douglas F. Newton and Marty Cavanaugh Sr.

Survivors include a son, Douglas Newton of Dallas; a stepson, Marty Cavanaugh of Houston; two stepdaughters, Cathleen McQuillian of Houston and Mary Ellen Reid; a brother, Hersheal Saucier of Grapeland; three sisters, Louise Collins of Houston, Buryl Moncla of Monroe, La., and Sylvia Roy of Marksville, La.; a grandchild; and four great-grandchildren.

Fred Hickman
May 14, 1918 — Nov. 21, 2002

Services for Fred Hickman, 84, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Monday at the Central Church of Christ in Bryan.

The Rev. Robert Moore of the Somerville Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 9 a.m. Monday at Daniel & Son Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Hickman died Thursday in the College Station Medical Center.

He was born in Austin and lived in Bryan 60 years. He was retired as a self-employed pastor. He earned a degree in theology from Bishop College and was a pastor for more than 60 years. He was a World War II veteran and was a member of the Rollins Street Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Varis Mae Sanders Hickman.

Survivors include four sons, Harold Hickman, Roland Morris Hickman Sr., and Fred Hickman Jr., all of Bryan, and Thomas Darron Hickman Sr. of Austin; three daughters, Lillie Mae Johnson and Donna Lisa McGee, both of Bryan, and Joe Ann Koontz of Conroe; a brother, Robert McLaurin of Bastrop; 24 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Rollins Street Church of Christ, 1108 Rollins, Bryan, Texas 77803.

Eleanor E. Kuder
May 27, 1916 — November 24, 2002

Funeral Services for Eleanor E. Kuder, age 85, of the Smetana Community, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan. Msgr. John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kuder was born to Vince and Eva Hebron in Brazos County, Texas, May 27, 1916 and has been a lifetime resident of Brazos County. Mrs. Kuder passed away Sunday, November 24, 2002 in Stafford, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan. She was also a member of the Society of St. Elizabeth K.J.Z.T. No. 6 Bryan, Texas, and the S.P.J.S.T.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie J. Kuder, Sr.; and a son, Willie J. Kuder, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Bob Stolting of Stafford, Texas; four grandchildren, Bill Kuder and Kevin Kuder of Bryan, Jennifer Nicholas of Houston and Amanda Stolting of Sugar Land; five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Blake Kuder, William and Nicole Kuder and Clayton Kuder, all of Bryan.

Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund.

Andrew Jackson Fulton
Feb. 20, 1921 — Nov. 24, 2002

FRANKLIN — Graveside services for Andrew Jackson Fulton, 81, of Franklin are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Franklin Cemetery.

Jim Manning of the Franklin Baptist Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.

Mr. Fulton died Sunday in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple.

He was a lifelong resident of Franklin and was retired from ranching. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in France.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Fulton of Franklin; a sister, Mavis Jefferies of Alvin; and two brothers, Ernest Fulton of Franklin and Jack Fulton of Hearne.

Leon Edward Gamble
May 20, 1914 — Nov. 23, 2002

JEWETT — Services for Leon Edward Gamble, 88, of Marquez are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Jewett.

The Rev. John Warren of the Jewett United Methodist Church will officiate. A Masonic service will precede the funeral. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gamble died Saturday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Terral, Okla., and lived in Marquez since 1977. He was the maintenance supervisor at the Shell Chemical Plant in Houston. He was a member of the Jewett United Methodist Church and the Jewett Masonic Lodge No. 427, where he served as a Master Mason. He was also a shriner. During high school he played basketball and baseball.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Gamble.

Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law, LaCretia Rudeloff of Houston, Paula Gamble Alexander of Marquez and Tami and Charles Barbour of Clear Lake; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Dimple Ray Green-Jones
June 13, 1936 — Nov. 21, 2002

ROCKDALE — Services for Dimple Ray Green-Jones, 66, of Rockdale are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Pecan Street Church of Christ in Rockdale.

Bro. Eugene Knox of the Pecan Street Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mrs. Green-Jones died Thursday in the Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

She was born in Milam County and lived in Rockdale for 33 years. She was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress in Taylor and later as an LVN at St. Edwards Hospital in Cameron. She attended Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Abilene Christian College in Abilene and St. Edwards School of Nursing in Cameron. She was a member of the Pecan Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Donnie E. Jones of Rockdale; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Ann and Albert Gates of Rockdale; her mother, Gertharine Green of Rockdale; six brothers and four sisters-in-law, Bennie C. and Dorothy Green of Corpus Christi, Elias and Margaret Green, Edward Green, Billy C. Green, Ronnie and Rosland Green and Richard and Becky Green, all of Rockdale; six sisters and five brothers-in-law, Juanita and Joe Price and Doris and Roy August, all of Houston, Ethel Shelton of Corpus Christi, Vera Nell and Norman Sanders of Phoenix, Mary and Pinkney Butler of Tyler and Deloris and Ken Barfield of Rockdale; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Barney F. Hammons
Jan. 31, 1911 — Nov. 24, 2002

NAVASOTA — Services for Barney F. Hammons, 91, of Courtney are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.

The Rev. Mike Fraley of Lynn Grove United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Courtney Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Hammons died Sunday in College Station.

He was born in Courtney in Grimes County and was a member of the Lynn Grove United Methodist Church, where he was trustee and head usher. He was a machinist for Union Carbide and was the historian for the Courtney Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Pauline Hammons of Courtney; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon Ann Hammons of Bryan, Linda and Mike English of Austin and Kathy and Dave Irwin of Houston; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James Hammons of Houston and Floyd and Bettye Hammons of Port Lavaca; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Anniebell and Richard Chamberland of Ennis and Joyce Smith of Seven Points; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Courtney Cemetery Association, c/o John Shine.

Clara Eugenia ‘Jeanne’ Selden Johnson Keith
Dec. 4, 1922 — Nov. 23, 2002

BUFFALO — Services for Clara Eugenia “Jeanne” Selden Johnson Keith, 79, of Houston are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Buffalo Funeral Home.

The Rev. Don White of Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo will officiate. Private family burial will be in the Keechi Cemetery near Buffalo.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Keith died Saturday in League City.

She was born in Palestine and lived in Houston for 60 years. She graduated from Palestine High School and held various jobs, but was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of Channelview United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ben Johnson and Lester L. Keith.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ben B. and Yvonne Johnson of Colleyville; a daughter and son-in-law, Grace E. “Jeanie” and Mackie Herring of Clear Lake; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Joann Selden and John Cooke of Tyler and Colleen Selden of Bryan; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
